for Battlestar Galactica, other scifi specifications

I'm less interested in knowing what other factions would do to the Galactica, and more in what Colonials would do with access to SW Tech. Especially with B&C armament.

You made some mistakes. The Columbia-class is nothing but a improved Galactica-class, they were built post clyon war. Also the Galactica is almost the same size as a Galaxy-class or Excalibur-class starship. I like to see you do a Macross/Robotech version.

To quote the Gungans with regard to all battlestar variations discussed in this document: "Ouch time..."

i am actually working on something of the sorts...in a way.

The ship one of my characters captains is described as "a ship designed after one in Battlestar Galactica, a 21st century movie" lol mine takes place somewhere around the 24th century. Its a Earth born humans end up in the SW universe story. but the ships dont take the name/class of Battlestar.

The Galactica is said to be some 1,800 meters long. An Imperial Star Destroyer is 1,600. true it is not so high as an ISD, but even so..

An ISD1 or ISD2 have a crew complement of 37,000 which includes an entire Stormtrooper legion of 9,700 men. It also possesses 72 fighters plus (or including?) a squadron of bombers (12). Then there several shuttles and drop equipment (for AT-STs, AT-ATs etc.) plus prefabricated parts of a base.

There is one thing speaking for you. The Galactica had a crew of some 5,500 men and women. And it was rather primitive when compared to SW tech, so your crew numbers should be alright, since a lot of he tech needs far less room, meaning the crew plus the soldiers might make it inside, though it'd mean that the troops no ground support or anything, even deploying them would be problematic.

I am not sure about the weapons, but 100 heavy turbolasers is something you'd find on a Super Star Destroyer (5-8km) or even an Executor-class (19km). Go look up the specs for an ISD. I know though that an ISD has 10 turbolaser batteries.

Btw.: A super laser can be fitted on a ISD (as shown in the Yuuzhan Vong war with the Errant Venture) but it severely reduces its armament.

Eclipse Star Dreadnoughts have them, but even then they are spinal mounted, so as to allow the ship to have more than enough weapons. Then though it is 17 km long.

I hate to be the one to rain on anyone's parade...

You do realize that the Death Star was 160Km in Diameter and the gun (including reactor to power it) was something on the order of 90Km in length? And that the Columbia class battlestar was less than 1.5Km?

Seems a little odd that a ship smaller than a single Star-destroyer (1.6Km) would have 2 main guns each ~60 times length of the ship.
