This is an amazing oneshot. Who'd ever have expected that characters like Rachel and Jesse, who have often been portrayed as rather egocentric on the show, would ever start to give back? I think the miscarriage is a very sad thing to happen to the both of them, and that it altered their personalities a great bit, making them seek for something else, something different than what they had been pursuing all their lives up until then. So their time at this school could be viewed as a break from their usual life, which had been tainted by the memory of an unborn child. But I feel like in your story, it was much more than that, since they really seemed committed to what they were doing. That, and their shared admiration for the trophy. And the fact that Jesse would actually have turned the lead in a brand new Broadway musical down. I'm glad that they will be pursuing their dreams again, though, but I think it will be with a different mindset.

Well, I've no knowledge about the challenge, so I'm not sure if this story was written differently because of it. This my second or third time not getting bored of a mostly-narrative-story. Usually I get all sleepy when no one's actually talking. (I know, I know. I'm such a lazy reader.) I was actually drawn to the story.
The miscarriage incident was so sad, but I believe it brought about a growth between St. Berry. To be honest, I couldn't imagine Jesse throwing off an incredible opportunity for a lead role in Broadway nor open up a school with Rachel. The Jesse I know would always think of his career just as much as Rachel does. However, thinking about what they've been through, I can see how he would do those for her. I've watched the show long enough to see how Rachel is the only one who has the power to change him. I recall the incident at Nationals during the third season, how Jesse instantly shifted his character when Rachel responded to his mockery. Their love is just so strong.
This future fic is truly interesting and new to me. It felt so mature and grow up unlike the typical St. Berry stories because of the selfless decisions Jesse made for Rachel.
I'm glad you made the ending fluffy. They deserved such one. It's nice to see one-shots being written shortly yet concisely; therefore, the plot is still as good as multi-chaptered ones.
Keep writing! I look forward to reading more one-shots! :)

This story was so sweet, as Cris said in his comment that Jesse is so cute supporting her in this difficult time for both, a very pretty story.

Well, you were right, this definitely is different than your other stuff. I also distinctly remember you saying you weren’t a fan of baby stories, and this does fall into that category, ;-)
Nice play on a common saying with your title, since the story is about a journey into teaching that Rachel and Jesse never really expected to take. I always found it a touching moment in Fame when a teacher refused to give one of her graduating students a recommendation because he wasn’t good enough, but told him instead to try teaching. I don’t know if it was meant the way I took it, but it felt like a very intimate moment to me, a recognition that the teacher herself wasn’t at the level to which her students aspired. In this case, Jesse and Rachel have the talent and drive and luck that leads to success and they chose to take some time out of that hectic life to try something different. I don’t think there’s any shame in that, nor in their choice to go back to the city they love and the roles they were born to play.
It was interesting to see the reactions to the miscarriage, and how something unplanned had such a drastic effect on their lives. Even the most devoted couples can have those moments, it seems, and this was it for them. I’m glad his stormout didn’t quite happen and he had the strength to stay with her, despite everything that they were going through.
Yes, I can imagine that when Rachel first proposed the idea of going to the middle of nowhere to teach, no one would really have understood, even Jesse. But he’s so caring and so devoted, and it was extremely touching that he was willing to take this leap of faith with her because it made her happy again and because she needed it. Though it turned out to be good for both of them, I have no doubt he would have stuck it out for her even if he personally wasn’t feeling fulfilled at the school. And yes, I can unfortunately see how their friends and family might not understand, especially at first. But there are some things that happen between two people, within a couple, that the outside world just isn’t privy to. So, sure, people would doubt her decision, and doubt that Jesse would stick with her because of it, but they don’t understand the connection between these two.
There’s no wonder why Rachel and Jesse quickly became favorites of the students (who WOULDN”T want to soak up that knowledge and energy and talent?), and I can see Rachel being quite happy passing on what she knows to students who actually want to listen and learn. While I don’t think she’d have the patience to teach a normal subject at a normal school, this is a very different situation. These kids are desperate for what she and Jesse can give them, and while I’m sure there are the usual youthful shenanigans, on the whole I suspect the student body is better behaved than McKinley’s.
It was so beautiful to see the way both of them were willing to make changes and “sacrifices” (I put it in quotes, because I’m sure it never felt that way to them) for each other: first Jesse going with her to teach, then Rachel going with him back to Broadway. It was an unexpected detour in their lives, yes, but I’m sure it’s one they won’t ever regret.
And they have a new baby to look forward to, a successful pregnancy this time (perhaps aided by the less-stressful atmosphere of being out of the spotlight for a while, though I suppose it’s impossible to say for sure). So cute! I loved Jesse’s last line, too: yes, they’ve helped jump-start plenty of dreams, and now they’ve more than earned a chance at their own once more. The quip about letting Kurt go crazy with the nursery was too funny and VERY apt…with Kurt (possibly Blaine?) and Jesse and Rachel around, that is going to be one well-dressed and very spoiled kid!
This was dreamily lovely, and I’m very happy to have read it! Future fics were never my favorite, but my opinions are definitely slowly changing… Of course, how can anyone not love AmyLeigh’s wonderful story, and you’ve only convinced me more that an older and wiser Jesse and Rachel can be just as compelling as their childish counterparts.

This was lovely. I feel so sorry for them losing their child, so I'm glad they got their happy ending at last.
I liked that they became teachers - they're both natural leaders (*cough* Which is not valued enough by ND *cough*), and I loved to see that they both used that to change the lives of those kids. :)

You know my affinity for future fics, so it was pretty much guaranteed that I was going to love this. I just idea I was going to love it this much. *sigh*
I just adored every moment of it. From them living out their Broadway dreams to the devastation over Rachel's miscarriage to letting go of their Broadway dreams for a bit to find fulfillment elsewhere to the kids that they'd left such an impression on to them finally starting a family and returning to New York to chase their dreams once more. Absolutely wonderful. :)

Wow! This is definitely different from what you've written before, but is absolutely amazing as is all your work. I love how easy and comfortable Jesse and Rachel seem with each other, and that they found success relatively easily in New York. The loss of their baby was hard to read, and I was scared for a moment that it would break them, and was so relieved when they came back to a good place. Phew!
I have no doubt that Jesse would support Rachel in anything she would want to do, even if it wasn't the Broadway dreams that they have both had for their entire lives. I am positive that Rachel and Jesse would make excellent and inspirational teachers. (If you ever need ideas for a new series, I nominate this one!)
I loved how you used the song as inspiration! Their dedication would have made an amazing impact on their students, and it is in my opinion the absolute best way to change the world.
Thank you for participating in the challenge! Amazing job!

Great story, I loved it !
I really liked how Jesse agreed to go with Rachel for something she really wanted, and how he did the same when he had the offer.
Even with the title that said it, I loved the "To Mr. and Mrs. St. James, with love and gratitude. Those who can, teach. You have changed our world."
Thank you so much for this wonderful story !
