You are very brave writing this. I really enjoyed it, even though it was heartbreaking - because it's real. Addiction is such a scary thing. It's every parents worst nightmare, and as you say, it is indiscriminate. From the best families to the worst - and all points in between. There, but for the grace of God go I.

Awww, I knew it, I just knew it.
You know, there was this guy in a Seattle band. Heroin addict, trying to recover. Not sure how long he'd been clean but his band had been picked to open for a very popular rock group on their tour. That night he decided to do a celebratory shot of heroin. He died clutching the tour dates in his hand. True story.
Perfect ending. Stellar writing as usual.
