Fun! I love the general idea of understanding people on another level (reading ki). It feels like seeing on a different plane, like Kaminoans seeing ultraviolet in Star Wars (ep. 2?). I like how you address the idea why Kenshin puts up with all the hits from Kaoru when everyone knows he doesn't have to. I like your premise!

Ha! I've always thought that Kenshin really adores an angry Kaoru, myself. The idea that his childhood with Hiko has led him to associate a whap to the head with open affection isn't that far fetched- we're all more than a little bit messed up by our loving parents- and is really amusing. And I can totally see him being enchanted by the implication that she knows she had nothing to fear from him, ever. Thanks for posting! :D

I love this expression of their relationship! It honors Kaoru's abilities as much as Kenshin's, for a nice change. Her skill often gets overshadowed by his, and that's too bad. He would not have fallen for an incompetent!
