I thought the one shot was good, even though it was kind of depressing. It was interesting how you made a story about a guy we didn't even know about. The writing was also good. You did a good job on describing his depressing life. Maybe you should do a follow up on before the island and after. Maybe he could have been connected somehow to what was going on. Also, you could do something where he knows Hugo. Hugo was able to see ghosts, so that would be a way to bring him into the story.
