I get it.
I see it as Bella had a personality disorder?
And her dual personality would sometimes take over and Edward would slowly fall for Maribel because she was more normal because she was more in the know while Bella struggled, right? Maybe not, I'm not sure.
But it is tragic how Bella would see herself in the mirror and think she saw Maribel and so forth.
oh goodness this was beautifully written.
But I would love it if you would reply to tell me if I'm right or not. XD

Wow, I thought that was very powerful and very skillfully written. I pride myself on being able to figure things out, but your story my dear totally blew me away. I actually went back and read it a 2nd time so I could pick up on your little clues as to what is really going on. I could actually feel Bellas pain and confusion through your words. As well as Edward being so torn - in the middle as to what he should do. He knows if she finds out the truth he might lose his "comfort" forever. While incredibly sad, I salute you on a very clever one shot.
