Wow. I admit, I did notice the Unicorn Hunt, but didn't put together the significance of its appearances until you mentioned it - Rumpel's afraid that he's the unicorn, the beast being trapped by the hand of a maiden, only to find out at the end that she was pure of heart after all. See, that's what I love about your writing - you don't spell it out, but leave the underscore to your audience to draw their own conclusions. Beautiful, and very well crafted.
I also love the nod at other fairy tales - you really can't help it, can you? *grin* I'm seeing... the Emperor's New Clothes, and the original Rumpelstiltskin story reworked OUAT-style. And any number of barren-queen-bears-a-child stories, but with your very specific description of the weaver's daughter's hair and skin... Snow White? Now there's an amusing twist. And, hey, not to hijack your muse or anything, but the Emperor's story looks like a fun thread to explore. Care to sate a reader's curiosity?

Normally he wouldn't waste time walking, but, true magic was best augmented by slight of hand, and transporting the tapestry had depleted his reserves. What sort of idiot beast would let itself be caught by a pretty face?"
Yay foreshadowing! ;) Love the background you've given on the characters here, as well as the side-effects of his 'condition'.
