I read on in complete and utter horror as I saw that you, who I thought could do no wrong, was writing a story that looked like complete and utter garbage. Then you turned the whole thing on it's ear with that twist. You had me fooled, nicely done.
That said, this short chapter was well-written like all of your work and didn't beat a dead cliche to death (something that even you fell prey to at the beginning of Denarian Renegade).
Looking forward to the next chapter.

I rather enjoyed this! It's fun when an author toys around with a common trope, in this case Naruto the badass ANBU. Even those stories that have Naruto's skills and prowess belittled rarely have him actually acting his age, as you do. I find that really rather refreshing. This way, you're sure to be able to include a lot of humor, while maintaining the possibility for seriousness. It really grants a lot of potential to the story. All of the things that Sarutobi could do to torture Naruto really are quite numerous. Whether you decide to confine his experiences to within ANBU or branch out to others of his age will be an important choice, of course. For example, I can imagine Sasuke's slack-jawed impotence at discovering there's an ANBU hig age who is many magnitudes stronger than he is, which would make for an interesting scene. Even more so if you have him attached to a team of genin (is Sarutobi that cruel?), since it doesn't seem like his maturity is to a point where it matches his skills.

It's great to see you writing again! You are one of my favorite fic authors and I read the Denarian series over every once in a while. I hope you come up with a full length story for this, it seems that all my favorite naruto fics are written by predominantly Harry potter writers. Keep up the good work! I hope inspiration knocks on your door soon!

This looks to be a lot of fun, and looks like Naruto's gonna be true to himself, no matter what LOL, and will be interested if this ANBU version of Naruto has the skills to go along with his actual rank, or if he's just sort of an honorary ANBU?

brilliant! I must say you had me there, from the beginning I thought Naruto was Kitsune...it was really surprising when you showed him as ferret^^
