Sigh. St. Berry in New York has always been my headcanon endgame, and you wrote it beautifully. 3

Awe, this is so cute. At first I was afraid that Finn would remain to reap all the credit but all's well that ends well. I really enjoyed this story. Great job!

First of all, you have to know that I'm writing this half awake and half asleep, so as much as I want to keep my review long and informative, I'll just sum all my thoughts up into one word—FANTASTIC. St. Berry ftw! ;)

Where to start... First off, I absolutely loved this. I'm still blown away by the fact that we had a little St. Berry moment during IACBTM, a song that has always been at the top of the St. Berry playlist b/c it fits them so perfectly. I liked getting a peak at Rachel's thoughts as she sang the words and realized that the song really spoke about her and Jesse.
Can I just tell you how much I love the idea that Jesse was actually out in that courtyard looking for Rachel? That's my head!canon b/c really it's such a Jesse thing to do. And I could totally see Jesse not intending to taunt Rachel the moment he opened his mouth, but nerves getting the better of him. The way you described the ease between them and the subtle things like the way they touched each other was perfect.
I really liked the organic unraveling of Finn and Rachel's relationship. Just by the way they had started almost avoiding each other, it was obvious that the end was coming whether Rachel had found out about Finn's lie of omission or not.
Even though I loved that Jesse talking to Carmen on Rachel's behalf was meant to be without her knowledge, I like the idea of Rachel finding out from Carmen and eventually learning that it was Jesse. It was so incredibly romantic and selfless and just completely wonderful. It made me love Jesse even more.
Rachel seeking Jesse out and showing up at his dorm with a bunch of baked goods is something that I could totally see happening. She would want to see him and thank him. Loved the ending with the acknowledgement that they have a lot to still talk about but just getting lost in the moment for a bit.
I'm so glad that Nationals inspired you to write this. :)

I wanted to cry at the look on Jesse's face during I'ts All Coming Back To Me Now, and even the doubters now must realize that he really did have feelings for her in the past, and that he still has them. So we St. Berry shippers still have a chance in cannon of seeing our beloved couple reunite!
And in fiction...Jesse was right, this epic song should belong to he and Rachel; it expresses their past and present so perfectly, Highway To Hell is the song that expresses her future with Finn. He knows it, he knows that while it might even take years, she would one day be Jesse's Girl again. All he has to do is wait for Finn to screw up, which will only be a matter of time.
Rachel was on fire as she sang, her voice has only gotten better over the last three seasons, but I loved that it was Jesse that she looked to for comfirmation. Of course he would be honest, it was the one thing that was NEVER in doubt between them! That, and his faith in the future she saw for herself. He sees her where she once saw herself, on stage singing Don't Cry For Me Argentina. She is the one who let the people around her doubt herself, he never has. To him, she is still the girl who belted out Don't Rain on my Parade with confidence.
Jesse's musing about the brief interlude he'd shared with Rachel before Finn interrupted had me snickering. Finn being Finn can only see what is right in front of his face; of course he's going to think that Jesse is giving up on Rachel, that he's giving up for the "perfect romance" that is Finchel. And of course only Jesse would see the irony in the song choice.
And of course he would be happy to take the girl off his hands!
I hate Finn, and the fact that he did not correct Rachel when she told him what the Dean had told her did not surprise me. And since he was too busy hoping he was going to get lucky, of course he didn't even wonder WHO really had swayed the Dean's
mind? Really? He MAY have said something nice?
Thank you for sending Kurt to NYADA with Rachel, he belongs there with her( And season four spoilers are saying he's there?) and for leaving Finn where he belongs, and I can see what you describe so clearly. Kurt and Blaine have so much in common that I can see them on Skype nightly, talking about the day the other had and thinking about how it would be when they are together again.
Rachel and Finn? not so much. The distance between them would grow as each of the struggled with a new life (and if truth be told, I can see Finn's eye wondering now that Rachel wasn't by his side all the time. Inner rock star remember?)
"Are you as talented as her previous boyfriend?"
Well, Duh, Finn, of course she was going to question the "new" boyfriend, and mention the "charming" young man who had spoken to her. Of course Rachel (and Kurt) would realize she was talking about Jesse.
Kurt's amusement at the situation had me wondering if maybe he was a closet St. Berry supporter until you answered the question with "It's true love, and I hope she kicks Finn to the curb."
Trust Finn not to understand what Rachel was telling him, to understand why she was so angry, to toss the "it's all about you' bomb in her face. (Think back Finn, did you not use HER to try and get a scholarship in season one? Did you not cheat with Quinn in season two for your popularity? Remember the kissing booth? Running for prom king? If anything, it's always been about YOU!)
And SHE IS BETTER THAN EVERYONE IN GLEE!
Then to expect to have sex because they were fighting and it gets her all worked up? Then not being smart enough to figure out that not only was she saying no. but that she was breaking up with him? Finn, Please go back to preschool and start over, it may be the only help you can get!
Muffins? Not her famous sugar cookies? I'm surprised. But not at how they connected the instant he opened the door. They understand each other so well that words can go unspoken, a look can say a thousand words, and a hug can be a homecoming.
And of course he will keep his promises to her. He's Jesse St. James. Her soulmate.
