What a great story! I loved it, and YES, I needed a hankie. I have to admit that it made me want to go to the cemetary and take up Seeley's family traditions!

Your story really made me feel as if I were there with them, watching and listening as the relationships between Seeley and his father and 'Pops' developed... and how Seeley developed as a man. I love to think of him passing down those wonderful traditions to his children.

Thanks for sharing your creativity and writing talents!

Interesting, I didn't know about this respectful American tradition.

I was so happy to see this alert in my email this morning! You did such a great job setting the scene and describing what was happening, I could see this as it happened! He would have been so happy to help with those flags as a little boy and so thrilled when he could share that same moment with Parker.

I'm glad you shared this. I had the bright/stupid idea to clean out ny storage unit this weekend so I've been hip-deep in boxes for days. Having this to read was such a great way to take a break!

great story, so nice to read of the booth traditions, and the same traditions he wants to pass on to his own family.

keep up the great writing

What I liked about this was how visual it was. I could envision every part of it, and I really enjoyed that. You did the holiday justice. Thanks.

Your story is wonderful. You worried for nothing. The traditions, the longing for the past the longing for the future was just brilliantly told. Loved it.

Thanks for hiding my story in yours. You made me grin. I'd never seen that done before and I just want to thank you. It is a sweet thing to do.
