Hello!
When I read about this two guys I feel like watching my two favorite teams play against each other, rooting wildly for both of them. Makes me think I've finally gone crazy.
The bantering was gold in this chapter.
When Ichigo got his point with the jersey thing I literally cheered like a loon. Grimmjow's 'mother joke' though... I totally thought Ichigo would take it badly and blow up. I'm really glad it didn't happen and they just continued with the back and forth, I needed the comedy.
I think I reached my monthly quota of laughter today.
I love it that you made Grimmjow "physically and mentally unmovable" it makes it even sweeter that Ichigo is the guy that can make Grimmjow 'move' a litte. I will never forget how Grimmjow lost to Ichigo's pop corn bad habit XD
The unmovable arm thing though ah, my poor heart can't handle such mental images. Grimmjow's dangerous for the health.
Well Damn ... I mean, Grimmjow, you really are too sexy for anyone's good. Poor Ichigo, I don't blame his mind for wandering, anyone's would have.
One thing I really like is that when I'm reading this story I'm always laughing like crazy and jumping around because of the feels... Until the moment comes when between the jokes, the banter, the impending doom and the fervent shipping, appears the remark on how hard it is to be in love with someone who won't reciprocate. Sometimes you just drop this little bombs where Ichigo mentions it, how this crush won't develop further.
It breaks my heart, and it's just so good at the same time because, when mixed with all the fun and the tension, the lonely lines that mention Ichigo's 'unrequited crush' remind me of how some past relationships went.
The laughter and the freaking "emotional moments" and at the same the quiet, seeping wound that bleeds when you have all those positive times while knowing you won't ever be looked at 'in that way' by them.
The chapter with Ichigo in the shower, to me, that was the saddest chapter, and it is one of my favorite paragraphs.
The 'always there' sadness really cuts deep the way you used it. My tears approve of your writing and masochistically beg for more.
On a more happy note, I enjoyed Ichigo finally blowing a gasket and telling Grimmjow to stop clinging like a Koala. I mean, it was really funny, even more fun than that was that Grimmjow had not noticed he was doing so. Also, his decision to continue just to stress Ichigo made my day, I hope to see more 'daily specials' in the future XD
My compliments on relaying perfectly the feeling of utter freedom and bliss that comes after you return to your training drills after a long while. You left me itching to drop everything and just dedicate a couple of hours to training.
At last, I need to mention Urahara.
Oh my gosh, I believe that you find it difficult to write this part. It really is complicated. The actions and reactions... It really must be hell.
But! You are doing an amazing job.
Urahara was awesome. His behavior is really Urahara like, the gestures and the freaking things he said, I love it that you managed to show that he is insane and insanely qualified at the same time. The way he stopped skating without any movement?... I fangirled hard, I won't lie.
I like a lot how Grimmjow and Urahara studied each other, it felt like two predators were meeting and Grimmjow was just perfect too.
The way he noticed immediately that the mad coach is hiding something but still rating him too much of a basket case to consider seriously was so like him. Careful and intense and completely baffled by Ichigo's behavior. I love that it made Grimmjow concede Urahara the benefit of the doubt and I really hope it all won't turn out to be a mess.
I also liked a lot that Grimmjow saw a new side of Ichigo and every one of his thoughts was interesting. It was really cool to see Ichigo through his eyes.
Poor Ichigo.
Bravely trying to minimize the trauma of those two meeting reminded me of this time when I had to bring my best friend to meet my deranged family. I remember nearly bursting a blood vessel while trying to make my friend say the right things so that my relatives wouldn't get triggered and let loose all their craziness. I really hope the thing with Urahara doesn't end like mine did XD

I love this, Urahara is like a boomerang. Whatever Grimmjow throws at him gets right back at him. And he has it coming too. I really like how it contrasts with the way you described their actual coach as patting him in the back like he was doing an amazing job hitting people - because it means Grimm has potential besides being a brick wall on skates.
Poor Ichigo though, he looks like he's been there before but still wishes Grimmjow had a filter in him. But I think what might be frustrating is how Grimmjow is determined to not like Urahara, just like he was determined not to like Ichigo either when he met him. And now... "If you made sense of that, I don't think we can be friends anymore." ;u; And they communicate so well without words.. I think I said this before already but I'm always pleased by it.
Ichigo blushing at the "fuck me if I'm wrong" line. Ah! That dirty young mind when straight to the gutter. Nice foreshadowing, since Grimmjow IS wrong - at least about Urahara) ~~
And Urahara... I love how smart he is, and how insuferable too. He must have taken a psychology degree somewhere down the line, because he's terrifyingly good at it. I love how his lines tease about Grimmjow's father. I just want to peel him open and find out what's in there that he can't get past.
I think I'm understanding Urahara's strategy now :D (ok I might be a bit slow on it) Rile them up, frustrate them, make them want to beat him... and not letting them until they deal with the real reason they're blocked. I'm looking forward to see them working together :D Or try...

So... the concept of the 'balance' between them is awesome. I love it that they both know it and actually calculate how not to kill each other while talking, and I love it most when it actually emerges from their bickering, when it feels like punches might be thrown and jet it ends with Grimmjow purring away a remark and Ichigo's hair nearly curling out of sheer stress.
"Emotional Carnage" as you said, I think there is no better way to put it. Ichigo's and mine, as I was reading this and ended up scaring a bunch of turists on the train.
I really loved the way you described the arena, with its corridors and changing area, it felt like I was there. It reminded me of when I too used to train, those places all have the same atmosphere, taste, and you got it and made me all bittersweet just like Ichigo felt and Grimmjow actually interrupted not only his memories but mine too. It was really awesome.
I love how far they've come. They both learned to read the other like it's the most natural thing. Like, they understand the others voice inflection and mannerisms, Grimmjow actually notices at the end of the chapter that he can notice Ichigo's emotions and that the other too can read him which ends up stunning him, and the whole process happened throughout the chapter in a very pleasant way. Slowly changing, progressing, just like Grimmjow has gotten more and more phisically close with Ichigo (I died inside when he was so close Ichigo decided to hit him with his gear bag XD) I'm really... I dunno, I feel deeply satisfied with the world right now.
About Grimmjow I love the way you let his mind run through thoughts unbridled, always leaving him unsettled when he finally catches up with his own reasoning, shocked that Kurosaki is able to just make his mind call it quits and travel on roads unknown. It was exasperatingly fun to see him nearly wish to see Ichigo's photos from when he was younger XD
Ichigo's failing 'mental gimnastics' are awesome too, you called them such in one of the first chapters if I remember correctly, well, I love them. His thoughts always tie themselves in knots when he thinks of Grimmjow and it's just so human, and real. They both seem so real I coul cry.
And oh my god! Grimmjow is, like, super understanding of human nature and down to earth and damn it how can he still get it wrong? Not getting that Ichigo is crushing hard and instead, even considering that he might be homophobic! And I love it that he does so, and well... we all know that it's denial that is clouding his mind, I guess he'll really see Ichigo's feelings once he realizes his own painfully obvious crush. My, my, he's crushing so hard it's painful to watch... And endearing XD
A note to the writing stile, I really liked it how you mixed thoughts, talking, and the acts of dressing (like, Ichigo putting on a sock or Grimmjow talking to his knee) and undressing. It made the whole thing divided in small paragraphs really smooth to read. All those gestures made the thoughts flow well like it was all happening at the same time, continuously, fast but unhurried.
To conclude. I can't wait to see how Grimmjow will take feeling like he's not 'top shelf' in Ichigo's eyes. He thought something similar about Ichigo's family thinking badly of him in the previous chapter and it's making me really curious on how things will develop for him. I really like the way he thinks.

Hooray! Another chapter! :D My eyes nearly popped clean out of my skull when I saw the update email! I’m so glad to know that you’re determined as ever, and pushing through. This chapter was excellent on the characterization of Urahara. I think you nailed him perfectly. The perceived vagueness of his advice was superb, and I can understand why Grimmjow was getting annoyed. The guy needs to face his father’s death, and I have to say I’ve been burning with curiosity to know exactly what happened there as well. Ichigo’s own lecture was quite intriguing, that’s for sure. I’m really excited to see how he will harness this “other part” of himself (excellent hint by the way! :D). I’m also amped to see Urahara switch to ‘being serious’, it’s an exciting change of pace, and honestly this reminds me of the manga. I know I’ve said this before but your writing is truly fantastic. I just wanted to say that I'm ecstatic to see you are well and back. I don't normally post reviews, as I'm never sure what to say, but I have enjoyed this story immensely. When I saw a new chapter was up I read the preface and then went back and reread the whole story before reading the new chapter and I was still riveted a second time.
I just wanted to say it is excellent to see you posting again and I am glad you are in better health and are on the mend.

Welcome back, its good to know you re feeling better. My mom went through breast cancer so i know the difficulties that come with it. My mom had both radiation and chemo therapy and the removal of part of her breast and the lymph nodes on her right side. She had an awful time of it. well any way im glad your doing better, and i am looking forward to more of your writing. I love it
