This is the kind of “I choose you” outfall I love. The combination of Esmeralda’s indomitable will and Frollo’s persistent obsession with owning her. She wins. She always wins because what Frollo wants deep down goes beyond her body; he desires the interplay of a healthy man-woman relationship, but since his massive ego reviles all vulnerability, he can only inflict violence. Personally, I’d love to know who abused him as a child because of how severely traumatized he is (not excusing his actions, but let’s be real here). You captured this limbo he’s trapped in perfectly. Oh, man, what an impressive, steamy story. You imagine such a dark AU for them here, and the way you write their interaction - Esmeralda's continued nonreactions, Frollo's determination to break her - feel so fitting for them. I also love the flashback to when they first met, which is so intense by showing it through Frollo's eyes and how much Esmeralda effected him.

This is by far the most realistic Disney-verse fanfiction I've read on their relationship. While the initial scenario is not new, you have handled it in a way that is actually believable. Too often authors write stories where Esmeralda's feelings instantly transform from hate to lust and/or love simply by having sex with Frollo (who is often portrayed as some sort of absurd virgin sex god). Your version is much more true to the characters in the Disney film. Excellent work.
