Oh, cool! I definitely thought Merida was like Mulan in some ways because of how bold and independent they are as young women, which was definitely not expected on how they should behave in their time periods. And with the song "Reflection," I most definitely thought that the first few lines described Merida's situation perfectly to Mulan's, and the sentences you say after each line to describe what they mean are perfect. I think my favorite one is how she would break her family's heart if she acted like her true self. That's definitely a case with Elinor, because she just encourages Merida to act like a typical princess and behave just like her (Elinor). But that's where I think Elinor should loosen up a bit and learn to accept the fact that Merida has her own identity as an individual. Parents can't expect their children to grow up and be just like them, because it just doesn't always happen.
And Merida has to accept her responsibilities as a princess. She may think her mother is just constantly nagging her, but Elinor is very wise and knows of the consequences if Merida doesn't go through with the betrothal. It's just kind of sad that Merida had to learn and accept her responsibilities the long and hard way around with her mother's transformation, and learning that Mor'du had done the same thing when he was the prince of his old kingdom. But at least she learned her lesson, and Elinor learned a good bit, too.
So good work on this by using the song lyrics and describing what each one means in regards to Merida's situation. :)
