You actually made me have a "Holy crap!" moment when Hiccup killed the day. The thing is, it was because I could see the whole thing so perfectly. I can see Hiccup actually doing this to anyone who tried to kill his dragon.
Being told from Stoick's point of view really added to the story. His shock reflects that of the reader.
Very nice. I would LOVE if you did a follow-up

Oh, so very well done.. It is very interesting to see the couterpart of His Unholy Guardian... I don't doubt that Hicup would respond 'hard and fast' to any concrete threat to Toothless, and I like how you made it. The last line is a killer! Congrats, and thanks!

Wow, this is amazing. I like how this was told through Stoic's POV. Usually Hiccup teaching classes and things happening to Toothless are done in Hiccup's POV. Having the story narrated through Stoic;s POV was a nice approach.
The part that I actually think I like the best is was the part where Hiccup draws blood for the first time in actually killing the man. The reason being because it is told through Stoic's POV. Stoic unnerved thoughts on his son's behavior is interesting to read.
The part that hit me the most was last part: "How much of my son's sanity now relied on his dragon's well-being?" Do you think you can write another fic through Stoic's POV that will kinda answer that question?
Anway, excellent job! I can't wait to read other fics! :)
