Very cool character insight here my friend. Even tho he is made a hero hiccup always treasured the truer unreserved love of his dragon rather than the shallow affections of humans. yet he is big enough to sacrifice time with Toothless to have them in his life. Nice work.

Wow, this could be a prologue for an epic quest of sorts where Hiccup gets turned into a dragon - or at least he embarks with the goal to be able to understand Toothless... and gets more then he bargained for

Awesome oneshot is awesome, of course. And I really like the small analisis of Hiccup's life in Berk. It's something that I think I already knew, but I didn't know how to put it into words. So while reading it I felt so satisfied, and also I bit sad. :( Poor Hiccup.
But you know, this could be the beginning of an interesting fic. Or you could write another oneshot to go with it. The plot is deep enough to get attention. And to be honest it's a oneshot that didn't feel... Complete? I don't know, something is missing. But of course, your stories your rules.
Keep writing beautiful stuff, ok? And remember, you are awesome! xD
