i think this one shot really cements the two alternate endings as one, and it is more to be expected than the "they lived happily ever after with a few bumps in the road" because you don't just bounce back after living years in a world where people make you doubt your past, your love, your hardships, and your very existence

This one-shot does explain more, but still, and like some other reviewers tell you, I'd like another one-shot, more happy, just to make us all happy too, and more hopeful. :D It would be nice to know more about the future, if she can have and if they have children now and if she is still mortal, what happens to her when they go to Valinor. They have so little happy time together, it's so sad.

Love it! yet I kind of want more :P
I would wish to see more of the process of Lane's healing, forgiving herself and rebuilding the relationship.
Regarding what Lane did with her captors, after reading the story I don't feel any sympathy for them so I found satisfying the idea that she got her revenge, but there is no denying that it was brutal and a good reason to become more traumatized, and adding her childhood, it is to be expected that she would despise herself as she did with the fairies.
The role of Lord Glorfindel in this story is great. That he tries to listen and being non-judgemental is a great help, and the advice of talking about it with Legolas, was good; though giving advice is risky, because even if they had some experiences in common, he is not her; Glorfindel wont understand her, and won't know with certainty what is best for her.

If you wrote a sequel i have no idea where you would go with it unless it told how she has finally moved past all of her pain and they have gone to the undying land and what is there.i cannot believe the Valar are that cruel to bring her back and let her suffer so much.

Your stories are so wonderfully beautifully written... poor Lane- all that pain that she has to go through; but you make her so real, so strong XD Thank you

I just got done binge reading your trilogy and this one shot, all in two days if I may brag, and I have never cried over fictional characters nearly as much as I did for Legolas or your original character, Elaine. I adore the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit, and Legolas is tied with Gimli for my favorite character. The way you wrote for Legolas spoke to me, made me feel as though I was Lane, and I wept like the world was ending when I read the ending that depicted it all being just her mind trying to escape from the hell of captivity. Then I continued reading, and the tears just kept falling. I'm a total glutton for punishment though, and plan on rereading the trilogy and this one shot over and over again.
I just want to thank you for having this one shot and it's companion pieces on this website. My favorite story by far. There's no competition.

I have never felt the need to review a story in all my years (gosh it has been many years) of browsing FanFiction as much as I have this one. This story has made me both despair and rejoice, so much more so than any other I have read here that it would have been down right rude of me not to comment. To me Lane became not just a character but a person and the portrayal of Legolas, the fellowship, even those that had little significance to the story was so well executed that I doubt anyone could have done a better job save for Tolkien himself. Your original ending was very well done and although you have said it was the more realistic of the two i'm(like many people i'm sure) a sucker for a "happy" ending. This one-shot was just the cherry on top of a wonderful, heartbreaking and masterfully written story. Although I wish for more (as anyone should from a good story) I am delighted that I had the opportunity to read this, for it is something not to be missed. No doubt I will be checking out you other works and although I do not know if you are still actively writing I will be sure to check back often. A talent such as your shouldn't go to waste :)
Many well wishes,
Amy

I hope that you decide to make another one shot and perhaps another after that. I want to know what happens to Legolas and Elaina. Love your writing. Peace.

Just went through all the story's related to Lane. They are beautiful stories done really well. I thank you for the litrateure but at the same time I am annoyed at you for so uncaringly playing with my emotions surrounding these characters. It is a testament to your writing ability to be able to make me feel such but difficult all the same.

I loved these stories. I hope you write some more about our heroin, for one who has seen combat and has friend battling PTSD, I would love to see Lane find herself victor in this inner war. Thanks again, and keep up the writing. :)

Question. If Lane doesn't have any scars can she have babies now?

I knew there was a reason I always liked Glorfindel.
who else could reach lane, but one who had been on the same road?
made me cry again though!

I've come upon these stories after their completion, but have found myself intrigued by their struggles. I understand not wanting to write more for something you feel is complete, but would love to read more if you are up to it.

Simply beautiful. A very much needed sequel for second ending of To Honor!
