Just found this story and oh yes, twas wonderful. Definitely made the more...sadistic side of me pleased. Add in the fact that your grammar is good, your sentence structure makes sense and the paragraphs don't make my head hurt, and you have a wonderful little gem of a story! And your characterization isn't that bad either, especially with such a heavy topic as this. If you choose to continue with this then I'll be right on your heels waiting for an update. If not, then I'm eager to see what else you come up with

Oh my gosh! You live! It’s nice to see you want to pick up your stories again. Even just rewriting some of our old ones.
