A bit too rushed? I would have wished to hear more details of how the contact goes, even if it's not exactly a 'first contact' as far as the Terran crews know.

Um... the premise of this story seems interesting, but the monster paragraphs make it unreadable. Start a new paragraph after each time someone says something. Add a paragraph break between parts were you tell something and those were someone says or thinks something. This should make reading this story possible.
