Hmmm. Looks like Abby and asura's relationship has grown more personal is the time away. Mordin should offer some nice levity to balance the angst in the story.
I like your exploration of Shepard's emotions and how she might be affected by the trauma of dying and rising from the dead. Mass Effect 2 was more focused on its new characters, and never really explored what this life changing event would do to Shepard. It seems illogical she could remain the same. Despite her outward confidence, she carries some deep doubts and fears. It really humanized her and make her more than just the player's avatar.
I'm glad I haven't played the Dlc so I can even enjoy the plot. Though it did mean I had to wiki some of the characters:)

Nice chapter! The first part with Abby/Asura/Mordin made me laugh and it's nice to see Abby get to do some vet type work. Poor Samara, first they won't believe her about the Reapers then they ask/are glad about the death of Morinth. At least she is supporting Shepard, even if Shepard isn't aware of it yet. I'm looking forward to more!

I'm so glad to finally have the opportunity to sit and read your latest creation. And I have to say it is as good if not your prior installments. I sang wait to see where you take Jane and Samara's fragile relationship. As for Abby and Asura, I just want them to be happy.

I get an ominous feeling in the beginning of this chapter. I wonder if Samara is justified in her fear. It saddened me that she was thinking that the justicar order should be allowed to fade away, but I suppose we all become tired at some point and Samara is no exception. I am happy that she has fond memories of Jane, at least there is hope for the future.
I loved the addition of Kahlee Sanders. She just disappeared in the game after her rescue, but here she is again. I can't help but hope she has another appearance in your story. ;)
I like your introduction of Jack to the academy. It's a perfect opening for how she came to end up there. And I love how badass she is. It's amazing the effect that Abby's absence has had on her. I hope they are able to come to terms with one another during the course of this story. I think they both need one another's friendship.
Abby's thoughts that Asura might eventually leave her tugged on my heartstrings. This dance they are doing is nearly torturous. How frustrating for the two of them to be so dependant on one another and yet fear that dependency. It's amazing how well you paint this picture.
All in all a great start to your newest story. May I just say that I am delighted you are back!
