I loved this. My favorite part was where Fiona was thinking about how Jimmy seemed to always know when the family needed something, because that one little moment was way more credit than the character ever seemed to get on the show.
I feel like the creators of Shameless loved Steve but hated Jimmy. As soon as he stopped stealing cars (and being this carefree, unreliable flash-in-the-pan) and settled in with Fiona and the family, they turned him into a joke. It especially didn't fit because for the whole time he was "Steve," Fiona's big complaint was that she couldn't really rely on him when she needed to. Then he's living with them, staying home to watch the kids, cooking and cleaning, and all of the sudden he's pathetic.
So aside from being wonderfully written, this was a great story for giving the guy his due. I wish we had seen some of that on the show itself. Congratulations on doing a better job with the character than the creators of the show.
