As much as I have grown to love fluff, and warm fuzzy feels, I am still a lover of angst.

Hmm. Beautifully written. The extent to which Skuldugary and Valkyrie would veer towards impassive depressionistic tendencies has always been sort of... limited by their moral values, right? That's why the author gave them alternate identies so they stay separate from the really bad violence, as characters. Skuldugary's family is tortured infront of him, he converts to Lord Vile of Vileness. They're twisted, but not focused on shredding bags of meat that carried out apparent offenses. That's Darkquess' job.
Or whim. Whatever.
Makes it hard to see em as that dark, maybe partially cause its almost impossible to imaging how the sobbing and casual deaths of comrades and family would affect them, to the point it strips them down to the original character core, WHEREUPON they blow up meat bags. Because Pleasant has that whole tortured history where he sort of acted as you described ( as an alternate character) and Cain - hey, she has no history, but she is highly attuned to Skulddugary, she's young, she's violent, she's a loose cannon, yeah. Author originally wrote them with a literary safety net, because no matter how many shredded eyelids and conscious decaitations the author's gonna write about, they are a tweeny fiction. And read by younger adults. And I think my neighbour started reading them when she wondered where all the shrieks were coming from.
Most of his Munchkin Army is that age, anyway.

that was sooo epic!11 i never thought it could end like that, that was sooo awsome but sd and so emotional it was sooo perfect twisted and formed into somthing so beutiful... i loved it this is probly the best story ever!

So sad yet so... amazing. That was truly beautiful and I love it, all the deaths are so sad but yet it would not have been this good without them. Carry on writing amazing things like this :P
