Thanks, guys. Like I said, that image of Jack's mother really got to me one night, and when I first tried writing a poem about her, I just babbled on and on and it was pretty bad. (Probably something like what maggiemert was talking about!) I finally decided that instead of free-verse (I had some versions that rhymed and some that didn't), I'd have to use some kind of poem that followed a specific pattern. I went for a tanka simply because it's Japanese. I was quite pleased that it worked out and I'm glad y'all enjoyed it.

That is really quite lovely...quiet, elegant and well, delightfully free of the rather unpleasant, failed epic sort of tone that haunts most "fan poetry." Nice.
