That Guest reviewer is an idiot. The UNSC IS vastly superior to Mass Effect. Period. It's not fanboying. In fact, this story, like EVERY ME crossover story, immensely buffs the Mass Effect stuff and nerfs everyone else. Because Mass Effect CANNOT stand on its own.
Lets talk about bullets and armor. Armor is intended to make bullets squish or shatter on impact as that cripples its energy transfer into the target. ME bullets are designed to squish or shatter on impact. ME armor is ablative, which has limited effect on something like an armor-piercing bullet because, though ablation reduces the amount of energy transferred beyond the impact point, it does nothing to slow the bullet itself such as how modern armor "catches" the bullet.
Then there's bullets. ME bullets have extremely low mass. Mass determines how much energy a bullet can contain and transfer into a target. It does not matter how fast ME bullets move, their low mass is a hard, absolute cap on the amount of energy they can contain and can transfer. With how mass effect barriers struggle to deal with even that, even the smallest modern bullet would likely be unaffected by a kinetic barrier to any degree sufficient to protect the target. A target wearing armor ablative armor vulnerable to ME bullets.
In other words, mass effect weapons, armor, and barriers are utterly useless junk whose bullets in particular compliment the way armor is meant to work and so are shockingly bad to the Nth degree.
This is also true for naval warfare. As for speed and agility? From what we see for ourselves in the games, UNSC ships are faster and more agile than ME ships. ME capital ships are always shown being lumbering and slow, we see it ourselves. The only exception is their frigates, which seem to have similar maneuverability and speed to the Forward Unto Dawn and In Amber Clad. It is obvious that their engines are drastically weaker than those used by the UNSC. Nevermind the Covenant.
This is why EVERY Mass Effect crossover, without even a single exception, massively buffs the Mass Effect technology, nerfs every one else, and often gives the Citadel things like large scale use of tanks, medigel, extensive drone usage, and sometimes even carriers even though medigel and carriers are Alliance inventions in Mass Effect and drone and tank usage on a large scale was popularized by the Alliance. Because it's such a weak setting. It CANNOT stand toe-to-toe with almost any other setting in sci-fi except for those set in a time near or at the present day and even then only because we don't have the space capabilities to pursue them or carry the war to their worlds. Modern military tech is still vastly superior to theirs.
What is with Guest reviewers hating on Halo and being Mass Effect fanboys who know nothing about either setting?

"Grew a strong bond with Cortana over the years." Chief knew Cortana for around 180 days, thats from waking up on the Autumn in CE and meeting her for the first time, to the end of 3 and going into cryo, to waking up in cryo in 4 till Cortana's death. Thats around 180 days that he actually knew of her existance and could have interacted with her, thats including the time she was trapped with the Gravemind and couldnt interact with him. Johnson makes for sense for getting to know him he had interacted with him a couple of times throughout the war but still less than a year of total time where they where capable of interacting. And Lasky... bruh he met him for 1 day saving him for Corbulo Academy in his youth, and the 5 days that is the entirety of Halo 4... These people that you just said interacted with Chief and knew him most, knew him for less than a year combined. Cortana is different yes because she was literally in his head, but Johnson and especially Lasky? Really? Not idk the entirety of Blue Team, or the other 20-30 Spartan-II's that survived the war? And this shit about the only reason that Chief did anything was for Cortana to have a chance to live? Who the fuck does Lasky think he is? He knows nothing about Chief at all like wtf? Thats like if some random motherfucker you met 2 weeks ago walked up to you and sarted anime monologueing about your life, while not even knowing what your last name is. Thats just stupid.

I apologize, but i cant anymore. FUCK you! Why the hell are you making Chief some PTSD, emotionally(mentally) unstable kid missing his friend(Cortana)?! Distracting himself during mission? Taking off his helmet in battlezone? It's not only Chief but also other characters. EVERY chapter is extremely slow, the story moves at snails pace, around 20 chapters covering 2 days in the story. Every character has emotional(mental) problems, that you have to put in EVERY chapter. Beacuse of this the story moves extremely slow.
And what is that in previous chapter?! Cerberus has SPARTANS now?! They have data on all the Forerunner installations UNSC has?! You just gave all the UNSC(ONI) secrets to Cerberus?! WTF you ME fanboy.
READ some Halo lore, if you want to use it. Don't use what you learned in games! Using the Assembly from Halo 5?
Probably the biggest shit 343i ever came up with. Forerunner keyships height is 20 or 25km?(cant remember the shit you wrote) Its height is only 13km!
If i had to write about everything that is wrong with this story, it would be the entire book!
PS: English isn't my main language.

No way would Cheif ever reveal his name! WHY?
1. Spartan IIs names are classified.
2. Spartans use their names only among each other

why do all these stories seem to be written by halo fanboys who seem to care more about making the unsc superior to anything mass effect related, then making a story that isn't ass?
like sure superior ships i can agree with even then they lack the maneuverability to be any large threat to the reapers but ground troops its not even funny how outmatched most of the unsc ground forces are compared to mass effect. hell a lot of their equipment is worse then what we have in present day.

sorry, this is an okish story... but you make so many errors it can be hard to read. one is, the unsc ships don't use nuclear fission reactor's. they used fussion reactor's, including in Mjolnir Powered Assault Armor.

Mickey, whoever you are, do yourself a favour and read up on the lore of Halo and Mass Effect. Ancient humanity was quite comparable to the Forerunners. They held back the forerunners and the Prime flood for 10,000 years simultaneously. Hell, the humans held back the Forerunner siege on their last planet for 2 centuries and only lost because the Shan Shyum betrayed them.
The flood at that time had the ability to use precursor neural physics technology and weapons. The Forerunner and Ancient Humanity comparison is more akin to Nekrontyr and Eldar, war in heaven era than anything else.
Yes the UNSC is like apes compared to them but the UNSC has had FTL for barely a few centuries. The Forerunners had access to it for millions of years, guides from the Precursors and importantly complete acess to the Domain. Hell, compared to their own Zenith, the forerunners and Ancient humans were akin to monkeys during the flood war. Because they had lost access to the Domain.
Ancient Humanity and The Forerunners at their peaks make War in heaven the eldar and the Nekrons look like children. They could go toe to toe with the old ones and win.
To them, tunnelling to another universe to get energy is a throwaway line.
7 rings to wipe all life from the galaxy. 7 replaceable rings build by a dying civilization on its last legs who don't even acess to most their own technologies.

What in blithering this Mickey guy saying? The Ancient Humanity were superior or equal to the Forerunners. The Precursors, creator of the humans and Forerunners, handed the Mantle of Responsibility over the humans. They saw humanity that have more potential than the Forerunners. Also this Mickey is comparing the Ancient Humans as mon-keigh? Clearly this a-hole didn't read the new additional lore. I would be saying that the Halo Ancient Humanity is equal to the Eldars from 40k. Ancient Humanity have waged a war against the Flood for 10,000 years. At the same time responding countermeasure against the Forerunners. For 10,000 years, Ancient Humanity were besieged from two frontlines. No civilization in the end could last long in a never-ending war. Ancient Humanity were beaten by the Forerunners as the humans were busy dealing the threats posed by the Flood. It was the Forerunners who made a grave mistake and each sides having no communication.
