I guess I'm... glad?... that it's more historically accurate. But it sucks cuz now poor Italia is tangled up in so many lies... But it is accurate that she wouldn't have a say in any matters...
I also like Italy's thoughts on her baby. It's cute how she automatically assumes it's a boy.

I really like the idea of this fic! The only objection I would have is the historical accuracy. Telephones did not exist until the 1860s and were invented by Garibaldi (Not Alexander Grandbell-that jerk stole the idea from Garibaldi who was an Italian Immigrant/worked for Italian Reunification...anyway). It's also important to remember that Austria may have conquered Italy and made her his servant, but North Italy was also a part of the Holy Roman Empire and Holy Rome would be the one in charge of them both. Austria may have had second say over Italia, but technically Holy Rome would have the initial say. Spain was also apart of the House of Hapsburg, but Austria wouldn't have had the right to pawn Italia off to him with out the consent of Holy Rome.
Devices used to communication at the time (I'm going to asume that this is during the 15th or the 16th century):
*Letters, which would be used in this case because Spain is quite the trip from Germany and Austria, in post modern standards. A letter could take an entire month to reach its destination, unless you were royalty or aristocratic, in which case you would receive your posts in a fraction of that time.
*Messenger Hawks (Which had also been used for hunting since the middle ages)
*Word of mouth
*News prints
*A physical messenger

I don't think they had telephones way back when . . . no, I'm positive they didn't. Sorry, that just kind of got to me considering the time period this is taking place in.
Other than that, I think Mr. Austria is acting perfectly fine for this kind of situation. He's just thinking he knows what's right for Italy. Although telling a lie about Holy Rome not wanting the baby was a low blow. If I ever got pregnant and my dad found out, he would probably hunt down the future father and kill him in the most painful way possible. _
So anyway, liked the chapter and how in-character the characters are. I can't wair for the next update to this story!
