I am excited to read more. I love the bits of alien that are interjected into Wanda's POV, such as not understanding the teasing between Ian and Mel.

This is so GOOD! The way you captured each character was perfect and I loved the whole bantering thing Ian and Melanie had going on (and the fact that Wanda didn't understand it just added to my enjoyment!) Very well written! Chapter 2? ;)

I really loved this! I read the book years ago, but just reread it for the movie and realised how much I loved it. This is also how I'd like to see a sequel. You're a great writer and I hope to see you continue with this!

So far, so good, you are staying within canon of the Host world. I agree with you that Jeb and group would have a wariness toward Nate and other human groups.
I checked your profile and your comment about writing within the authors world. I personally prefer it and try to follow it myself with my writings. I do admit I like to create my own characters within the author's world. It allows a greater range of characterization and event scenarios. My opinion.
