Finally got around to reading this, and, yep, I cried. This was... Well, it was fantastic. The first time I watched "The Parting of the Ways" and saw how happy Nine was to regenerate, I didn't think anything of it. I thought that maybe he took every time he regenerated as a new adventure. It wasn't until all the times Ten and Eleven almost died and Ten's regeneration that I realized that Nine was happy because he was leaving the grumpy, war-torn man behind and moving on to someone happier and more loving, someone more suited for Rose. It wasn't until then that I thought about how heartbreaking Nine's regeneration is in its own way. To think he despised himself so much that he almost looked forward to the thought of dying, to think that Rose was the thing that fixed him... I don't see how anyone could ever have any doubt that the Doctor loved Rose, not after all of that. And you captured it perfectly. So... Thanks. Good job!
