I’ve reread this one, and the ending still leaves me with tears over the cruel fate of Luna… I usually love reading Harry/Luna stories, and while he doesn’t end up with Luna as a wife, he still ends up with her in some way.

I love the ways you portray Luna, and while I personally prefer a bit more closure (even for "open-ended" stories) I can still respect your decision to leave it where you did, and all the more so for explaining both your intentions and reasoning for doing so and for having those at all rather than just ending it.
have read several of your stories previously, but am going through them again after coming across them again recently. would love even more/new stories (especially with Luna) should you have more to share in the future.

Since you've made references as to Luna becoming a beautiful young woman. I am hoping Harry and the Patils will set her free after Hogwarts so Harry can marry her.

That was different (it's a good different, as Anna would say).
Thanks for sharing.

I like this. And for what it's worth I'm gonna go with a head canon of Hermione not working out with the Charles guy, and through time and various events growing closer to Luna as she recovers and Luna herself recovering even more than to how she 'was before' to such a point that the two realize they themselves have fallen for the other. Though when their time comes and they feel ready, Harry would be the father for either/both of any of their kids they may want. Not physically, there's magic for nearly everything afterall, and between Hermione's genius and Luna's breadth of knowledge and experience interacting with Other types of magic(-users) I am sure there is some way of using a ceremony, ritual, potion, or something for them to have kids. And if there isn't they'd make one. (Oh and the other three would all learn their Animagus forms at somepoint, though one semi-plothole in the story is the lack of Sirius being contacted/useful as he too is both a dog animagus And someone who used that form to protect themselves if in different circumstances)
So that's my headcanon "epilogue" in a nutshell: Luna recovers, at least in as much as she can be judged mentally sound enough to provide consent for a relationship (though proving that may have been an effortfurthermore, and even if she never completely physically recovered (though I would expect they'd continue to get it further progressed), her Emotional recovery would be to even better than before the attack even without/before including the effect of starting a relationship with Hermione. Which said relationship is the second aspect of the "epilogueLuna never gives up on being Harry's (and Padma's) Pet, she just has her relationship with Hermione grow from being just a pack-mate to something more, and similarly Hermione's relationship with Harry has always been more than a friend and Padma didn't change that just added a new aspect. As such the four all have a series of interconnected relationships with one another that in some, admittedly very ironically/appropriately "Luna-like", ways can best be described using Luna-terminology as they are a Pack. Said pack would grow with time (indeed I see one factor in Hermione and Luna becoming closer being caused by the toll newborn children would have on Padma and Harry, especially if they kept having twins or even larger numbered multi-births) and eventually Luna, Hermione, or both would start wanting their own children, and upon eventually finding a way to have some without physically involving a third party (but having to resort to magic for one reason or another due to Invitro not being a possibility, most likely as some consequence of the attack which Luna took and/or their desire to both be a parent to the child[renthey would only Then come to the realization that the only possible father they could consider would be Harry (whether they had just never considered who to be the father, finding that the only reliable method still requires at least one male and one female parent even if others of either gender could be included, or if they just had been completely overlooking Harry as a possibility due to his being married/already having kids). In the end what matters is simply that Harry has a huge family, Luna's pack instincts would be satisfied in that all the packs' children are fathered by the alpha male, all would be happy that none of their children would grow up alone and definitely not lacking for love and affection, and Pavarti would be the best aunt, and likely godmother, ever to an absolutely huge number of nieces and nephews even with some only being half siblings to one another.
(Oh and Ron died in the attack, but Ginny had both been at the trial and been injured at it [which was why Molly went after Bellatrix] and thus wasn't there on the platform. The Weasley twins had been the ones dropping Ron off as he'd wanted to meet up with his friends/get away from a Burrow without his mother. The twins were the ones organizing the upper years into fighting back, neither twin dies in the fighting. Ginny would eventually wind up with Neville. Astoria would never succumb to the "blood curse" either because the sisters are exposed to a greater variety of magics, or it is actually a mundane, and likely genetic, disease not an actual curse (as is my current take on the "blood curse" being a somewhat allegorical, in initial conception, reference to Hemophilia, though that has women as carriers and men the ones to "suffer the curse" so to say, as Hemophilia is also called "the royal disease" and parallels can be somewhat loosely drawn between the Pureblood focus on breeding and the way the various European royal houses all intermarried) or possibly a mix of both. Regardless Astoria never marries Draco (who if he didn't die faded to obscurity and the Malfoy name with him). Weird ending. Voldy and buddies are particularly stupid here. And what's the point of the strange twist and untwist with Luna? Not to mention how discordant your "climax" is next to the rest of the story.
I don't get this fanfiction. 5.5/10

I really enjoyed this story, thank you for writing it! The only leftover question I have, at least the one that I remember, is less of a question and more of a statement that no one had anything to say about Luna registering her animal form?

I'm unsure as to why Ron was included because hasn't he been distanced from Harry the semester especially after his remarks about Harry's new pet?

This is a great story, wrapped up in discrete packaging. I can't believe I've not read this before, because I liked it a lot.
