I’m confused as to why Shirou can’t project Avalon anymore? Isn’t that the one thing he should always be able to project perfectly?
Great chapter though! I loved the sort of reveal by Minato that Shirou would kill a Sekirei. And the conversation Shirou had over the phone. I really like seeing him in enforcer mode. I wonder if he can use structural analysis far enough to just detect the dead apostles in the city.
By the way, Shirou is for sure able to alter the shape of the mystic code daggers, so he can likely make them into basically string or something else non invasive. Will he be doing that for the ritual? I really do want to see him show off more magecraft.
And I’m wondering how much of what happened with Shirou is actually his father’s plan and how much was luck.
I feel like you can’t predict things involving all the world’s evils. And Shirou being raised by Kiritsugu was not planned or known.
And I also want to see more of his enforcer adventures now. With the way you are describing them. It sounds so interesting.

Yay can't wait to see what happens with Uzume. Also wondering if little Chiho will end up being an apprentice to Shirou at this rate? Either way loving this and can't wait for more.

Happy Holidays!
Oh my god, what a great new chapter. No seriously, at the moment this is even better than In Flight for me.

i hate this. this is the ubw route, and thus shirou knows where the path that he is taking goes. He should be doing everything in his power to avoid that fate such as spending time with Rin.
nope just off to warzones and battles with dead apostles for the exact same reasons as EIMIYA. it wouldnt suprise me if he's already signed the contract.
The UBW route is a terrable start. it should be something like saber route where he's searching for Avalon or an AU shirou with a diffrent experience.

Referring to homura as "them" is really clunky to read and makes no sense in the story given he hasnt asked for it or the transformation.

Man, I'm hoping Rin doesn't bow out as easy in this story as "In Flight" when it comes to her feelings for Shirou. It was neat to get a bit of her perspective as its not something I've seen a lot of in cannon. I can only imagine how she's must feel mentally after the Sakura deal, on top of watching the one she cares about (Shirou) break even further. It's no wonder she forced him to go on vacation when you consider what Caren said to him in Reforged. That would be hard for her to watch, especially when, no matter what she does, she can't seem get through to him. All while trying to keep her promise to Archer. It's gotta be rough on her.

Damn, Haihane was a savage this chapter. Her back and forth with Rin was hilarious... not to mention all the vampire movie references she used to try to make sense of the situation she was in. Good stuff. At the same time, I do feel for her and Akitsu. With Shirou being so emotionally dense, Haihane and Akitsu don't get the affection they deserve. Haihane's emotional outburst was well done. Haihane had to be pissed she was interrupted by Rin's call. Especially when Shirou finally SEEING her for the first time. Hopefully Shirou circles back to all that when he gets a moment.
Akitsu was bad ass this chapter. I liked seeing her perspective... even if it just makes me want to just giver her the biggest hug ever. Hopefully Shirou goes through with his thoughts of rewarding her. She deserves it. Speaking of perspectives, I also liked Karasuba's. Her getting caught off guard by the Apostle minion had to be eye opening for her. Especially after Shirou gets around to explaining that what they fought was the lowest of the low in terms of Apostle thralls. You definitely did a good job showing Karasuba's mental struggle. Her realization of how close she came to a brutal death via Shirou's dagger was particularly well written. I look forward to seeing how her and Shirou's relationship continues to develop.
A lot of interesting stuff happened this chapter for sure. It's interesting to see that Minaka doesn't appear to be a magus at all actually. I can't say I expected that. I can't help but wonder if Matsu saw anything meaningful from her spy satellites, or if it was too dark for her to see much. I'm also interested to see what Shirou does with the knowledge that something on the boat was addressed to the hospital Chiho is at... and that he has conformation of a magus at MBI. Lots to look forward to.
Thanks for writing!

Where’d Karasuba go for the later part where Shirou’s grabbing the cargo? I’d think after a Black Key straight to her ‘only thing you’re good for’ like almost suffering an instant defeat she’d never let up on being close to him. Also, is it weird I found her rampage and inner thoughts during it cute or was that intentional? Even now, in this situation she’s in denial, isn’t she?
I was kind of expecting Haihane to break to break from all the rejections eventually, but man she is glorious at destroying things with words here. She keeps having moments that make me go, ‘oh, poor Haihane.’ But then move on without internalizing the emotional hell she’s slowly being put through… ah, poor Haihane…
Moving on, Rin is not going to ever accept this new situation, especially once she realizes what Shirou has failed to grasp about his own part in things. Double especially because of how she got introduced to the other parts of this stupidity. …well, she might come to appreciate Akitzu a little, for keeping the idiot alive at least…
Oh yeah, poor Akitzu too. Keeps working herself to death and barely getting praised for it, let alone anything she really wants. Also, is she outgrowing the others because she’s a scrap or because sekirei have some sort pushing past the limit thing here? Because this is the second time she went to her limit and got stronger for it…
I know Karasuba sort of did too from the notes, but that felt like something she was already capable of. Oh, wait! Maybe they get stronger from the emotional trauma/outburst side of things and Haihane gained the power to psychically discover the most damaging thing to insult someone with!
Anyway, I liked it until that end bit in the ship because I was distracted by wondering what happened to Karasuba while Shirou found/got exploded by Combustion Man. Oh, and the part after it was done well too. Obviously not as good as the apartment scene but still a pretty good and in character reveal/scheme.
Keep it up!
