Arthur: “Hope life didn’t get too boring while you were away? What did you get up to?”
Merlin: “well... First I ran away to a Druid camp, found out my ex-girlfriend was resurrected, got kid-napped by slave traders because they threatened to kill her again, got sold, got tortured until I agree to become slave for this guy, then my badass girlfriend and a dragon show up, bust me out, then Freya got stabbed and died, so I in my heartbreak I brought the castle to shambles. What about you?”
Arthur: “I- I just got really sad... Merlin? Are you ok? That sounds incredibly emotionally and physically traumatic.”

I loved your story so much! It was incredibly dramatic and I gotta say I am a big fan of BAMF Merlin!

I don't believe Merlin's happy-go-lucky personality, or his clumsiness was all a "servant façade" at all.
Sure, there are times when he is especially wise, and situations he would have gotten out of with a lot less embarrassment if he'd simply used his powers, but all he seems to want is for Arthur to not see him as an idiot, and I don't think he'd act that way if he could help it.
I think he is clumsy, and hapless, with no self-preservation who gets upset when Arthur kills animals on hunts, along with a knack for getting himself into dangerous situations.

Did Freya make, like, a crossroads deal to come back to life, or something? Because this never really explains why she's suddenly back alive.
Or when Freya died in the show and she said that she'd come back to help him when he really needed it (even though she did help by handing him back the Excalibur to defeat Morgana and Morgause's immortal army), is this Freya repaying him?
Or is it something else altogether?

But... Freya died? Is this an AU where she didn't die, or came back to life, or never got caught by the bounty hunter and taken to Camelot, or something?
And why didn't he just use his magic to save her, like he did the other girl?

I think most FanFictions downplay the reactions of Merlin's friends a lot. If anything, this is more accurate.
Remember, Gaius already helped people with magic, like Alice and Balinor, and used to practise it himself, so he probably would be more accepting towards those with magic, but Arthur? Arthur was raised to despise magic, and eventually lost both his parents to it, whether it was intentional or not. And the events of the show from Arthur's perspective hardly made magic seem all flowers and bunny rabbits, did it?
The only reactions that I'd say were OOC were perhaps Gwen's, as in the finale, Gaius hinted to her that Merlin had magic, and she seemed rather accepting.
Also, I believe Gwaine might stand up for his best friend and accept him like Lancelot did. Also, Gwaine grew up hating nobles, and Merlin changed his perspective on them, so why not sorcerers?
Percival and Elyan never seemed too prejudiced against magic, but they are loyal to their king, and Leon, as Arthur's first knight, definitely would react similarly to Arthur, especially since he has seen first-hand the evil magic can cause.
And Morgana's betrayal can't have been easy on any of them.
So no, I thought the reactions were very well written.
