I never understood why they could not eat food and have the venom break it down. SM was an idiot for the way she wrote her vampires.
Also I can believe that Carlisle would not tell his" children" the many things they could do as vampires since he wanted so badly to be human.
He is far from Prince charming. more of a obsessed stalker that needed to be out down.
