That last note actually makes sense from a story line perspective. We're seeing the worst of all the situations in Kirkwall.
If Ferelden is any indication alot of the templars and mages get along, if with some difficulty.

This was a lovely chapter from Merrill's POV, and I'm still chuckling over the cow's name. It's a sweet ending to the chapter too, but I'm glad more is coming :)

I really liked this glimpse of Merrill's protectiveness as a mother-and I found the Warden Commander's policy on apostates and blood mages fascinating.
Your theory about Kirkwall being a dumping ground for troublesome Templars is a good one, I think. Definitely makes sense with both Cullen and Meredith's histories.

Oh this is just lovely and bittersweet! Poor futile Carver-off chasing swords no one will use and pining for a woman he can never have.
This was really great-I really like your take on Carver and his role in the wardens. And Amell was an interesting character. He returned from seeing out Morrigan, eh? That's an interesting nugget of information.

I really enjoyed this chapter. The Sigrun/Carver dynamic was really interesting and I felt making Amell the Warden Commander was a nice touch due to the familial connection. I'm really looking forward to more!

Nice chapter and use of Warden Amell (since the Amell Warden is a cousin of Hawke) and glad you used Warden Carver. And Vigilance was easily the best fantasy game sword. And the Sigrun/Carver bits were funny.
I do agree that Carver had a bit of a crush on Merrill, but I don't think anything real came with it

Oh this was just lovely! I love the juxtaposition of Merrill's recollection of Leandra with the appearance of the love struck teens. Merrill's moment at the end with the teenage girl was particularly poignant.
This continues to be a very sweet story :)
