—O—

"Aren't you at least going to hear me out before completely rejecting my proposition? You never know, I could offer you something much more valuable than petty green slips of paper or beefed up, gun-wielding steroid users." Silence hung in the air for a moment before Damon turned to face the blonde-haired man, leaning against the table and crossing his arms in the process.

"Fine. I'm listening."

—O—

"Waitwaitwait," Damon began, shaking his hands. This Mr. Anderson guy was quick yet thorough with explaining his proposition, which left the other man in a state of… uncertainty. "So you want me to kidnap someone?"

"Rescue," Quinn clarified, "and this isn't just anyone, Mr. Wiles. We're talking about my daughter's life."

"Alright, so let me get this straight. You want me to rescue some girl from these guys who took her for some unknown reason and bring her back to you."

"In a nutshell, yes."

"Sounds like it's all for your benefit." Damon kept his arms crossed and still leaned against the table when he asked, "what's in it for me? What do I get in return for helping you?"

"That's the best part," Quinn replied, an innocent smile on his face. "You name the price. If you want money, fine. Want a job done, consider it done." Damon thought for a moment over the man's offer. He did need some parts that were hard to get, but something told him that he shouldn't trust this man.

"How do I know that you'll deliver, and I won't be ripped off?"

"I'm afraid, Mr. Wiles, that you don't. It's all in a leap of faith, right? Do you trust me to hold up my end of the bargain?"

"Not really," Damon replied, crossing his arms. "What if I say no?"

Quinn paused for a moment before he looked down and sighed. "I'm not trying to pressure you into anything, Mr. Wiles, so if you wish to back out you are more than welcome to." He paused again, this time bringing his hand up to cover his eyes as he choked up. "It's just… she means the world to me, and… and I can't handle losing her after losing my wife…"

Damon hesitated, mulling over his thoughts. After a moment he replied, "alright. I'll help you." Quinn looked up at him, a glimmer of hope in his eyes, and Damon pondered his next words. "But I want something in return."

Quinn hid his grinning glee with a thankful countenance. "Of course. Anything you want."

"Metals," he simply replied. "Specific types of metal so I can continue making my... erm... suits. I'll need them so I can prepare for what you're suggesting. I'll send you a list of the specific types."

The other man smiled and held out a hand. "It sounds like we've come to an accord." Damon hesitated again before taking his hand and giving it a firm shake.
