Chapter 1

Loving him was like driving a new Maserati down a dead end street

Faster than the wind
Passionate as sin, ending so suddenly
Loving him is like trying to change your mind
Once you're already flying through the free fall
Like the colors in autumn
So bright just before they lose it all

Losing him was blue like I'd never known
Missing him was dark grey all alone
Forgetting him was like trying to know somebody you've never met
But loving him was red
Loving him was red

Touching him is like realizing all you ever wanted was right there in front of you
Memorizing him was as easy as knowing all the words to your old favorite song
Fighting with him was like trying to solve a crossword and realizing there's no right answer
Regretting him was like wishing you never found out that love could be that strong

Losing him was blue like I'd never known
Missing him was dark grey all alone
Forgetting him was like trying to know somebody you've never met
But loving him was red
Oh red burning red

Remembering him comes in flashbacks and echoes
Tell myself its time now, gotta let go
But moving on from him is impossible
When I still see it all in my head

Burning red.
Burning, it was red.

Oh, losing him was blue like I'd never known
Missing him was dark grey all alone
Forgetting him was like trying to know somebody you've never met
Cause loving him was red
Yeah, yeah red
We're burning red

And that's why he's spinning round in my head
Comes back to me burning-

"Lucy!" Layla Heartfilia called from downstairs. Lucy tensed at the sound of her mother's voice. She knew she had done something wrong. She recalled everything she had wrongly done in the past few weeks.

Maybe she found out I didn't wash the dishes last week. Maybe she knows I took a few notes from her wallet. Ahh, what could it be?

"Lucy, I don't want to shout for a third time!"

With that, she paused the music coming from her phone. In a rush, she dropped her pen and notebook and went downstairs.

"What is it, mo-" Lucy immediately noticed the object in her mother's hands. She recognized it as the manga she had recently bought.

"You bought another one of these," Layla stated, throwing her daughter an annoyed look. She had countlessly asked her to stop buying such books, and save her money for future use instead. Countless times, her daughter had ignored her and bought more.

The younger blonde knew she was wrong, but she couldn't help but answer her mother. She summoned all the courage she had to mumble a few words, but she was cut short.

"What's wrong about-"

"I told you to stop, didn't I?"

Lucy took a deep breath and nodded, "Yes, and I'm sorry for buying another one but I just had to know what happened next."

Her mother sighed. "I'm putting my foot down. You will stop buying these books, or I won't give you any allowance."

She was shocked beyond reason. Her brain couldn't function for a few seconds. It took her a while before she could process what her mom had just said. Her tongue was tied, and the words she thought of wouldn't come out. She could only utter two words as of now. "But mom!"

"I'm serious, Lucy. Don't let me down," she stared at her daughter once more before giving her the book in her hand and leaving her in the living room.
