Hi everyone and welcome back to another chapter! This one took a little bit longer to write, because I was having some difficulties with Sav's heritage, but that's all sorted now! Throughout this chapter, it carries on from the last chapter and that cliffhanger. I wonder if Christian is dead or alive? I don't know and I'm the author!

The song I chose for this chapter is Possibility by Tiffany Alvord, which you can find on YouTube. This song actually spoke to me a lot about the relationship between Oliver and Sav. They have a ship name, Olivannah. How cute is that?! Thanks to Ruby-Mayyy for helping me find a cute shipname!

Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter. The only thing I own is the plot, the OC's you are introduced to throughout the story and on occasion Oliver Wood and Fred Weasley, because they're just so hot! All other characters belong to the lovely woman, J.K Rowling. Without her, there would be no Harry Potter.

With that said and done, I'm moving on. I hope you enjoy this chapter!

Chapter Thirteen - Gryffindor .VS. Slytherin

Sav

Today was the day that everyone went back to Hogwarts. Well, not everyone. I buried my head in my hands as I sat aboard the Hogwarts Express and waited for everyone to say goodbye to their families.

I would have said goodbye, but it was too painful. Too painful not only for me, but for my parents.

I looked up when there was a soft knock on the glass door to my empty compartment. What I saw next made me smile, all my friends stood there. Angelina, Alicia, Katie, Eila, Fred, George and Oliver were all smiling in at me and it took everything in me not to burst into tears at the sight of them. I nodded my head slightly to let them know it was ok to enter and almost all at once they came rushing in, instantly crowding around me.

Oliver and Fred both sat down on either side of me as Oliver wrapped his arm around my shoulders.

"Are you ok Vannnah?" He whispered in my ear as he rubbed my arm up and down in a comforting gesture.

"No offense Oliver, but I don't really feel like talking about it," I replied as I blinked back the tears as I thought of my older brother.

Oliver shared a knowing look with everybody else in the compartment and wordlessly pulled me into his side. I made myself comfortable as I rubbed my red eyes. Christian meant everything to me. I might not have shown it all the time, but that was how I truly felt. I only looked up when I heard nearly everybody in the compartment take a sharp intake of breath.

Standing outside the cabin was Christian's girlfriend, Eleanor. She was also Oliver's older sister. We shared a look that I instantly identified as strength and hope all mixed into one. Strength that we would be okay and hope because we had to believe that our strength could carry us through.

She nodded at me through the glass window pane and even managed a small smile, which I was surprised to know that I returned. I had little to no strength and having everybody be so careful around me made me feel tired, fragile. Like I would crack at any given moment.

The train lurched forward as we started our journey back to Hogwarts and away from dreary, cold London. Don't get me wrong, London was my home, but right now, it didn't feel like home. I had already lost Laurel, what could I possibly do now?

"Sleep Vannah," Oliver whispered as he rubbed his hand up and down my arm in what I believed to be an attempt to at least make me feel a little bit better. Oliver was my rock through all of this, he was there for me when no one else was. He was there when my parents were too busy to talk. He was there when I broke, when I cracked, when I really did become fragile.

I didn't know who could possibly hurt Christian, he was probably the nicest person you'd ever meet, he never put a foot wrong. He knew just what to say when someone was hurting and he knew exactly what I needed and what I wanted. He was the brother that I had loathed, envied and sometimes even hated, but he was also the brother that I cherished, believed and loved.

We had finally reached the platform at Hogsmeade Station and to say I wasn't surprised at how many sympathetic looks I received was a huge understatement. Oliver, Fred and George all stood by me, as if there were my shields, as if to protect me from the onslaught of questions that were surely going to come my way.

It didn't take long for two Slytherin girls to come up to me and look all smug and selfish.

"Is it true your brother's dead? Did he get blown up? Could you even find the body?" The fourth year, Matilda Rosenshire asked. I looked her dead in the eye and forced myself to keep my hands firmly by my side so I didn't get into trouble for punching a fellow student in the nose. But then again, I could say I was just trying to make her face look better, but it wouldn't work. Nothing could make her face look better.

"Shut up Matilda, before I make you," Oliver snapped by my side as he took a protective step forward in an attempt to intervene and to stop the fight that was sure to come from people talking to me about Christian.

"What are you going to do about it, Woody?" Matilda laughed as the girl beside her laughed so shrilly it literally sounded like nails on a chalkboard.

"Why don't you back off and go practice your screech, harpy," I replied harshly as I narrowed my eyes in a glare.

Matilda and her friend looked visibly shocked and their jaws opened and closed like they were goldfish. They turned away and stumbled back to wherever they came from, in shock that a first year Gryffindor would even talk to them like that.

Oliver and the twins tried hard to stifle their laughs at my comeback as we made our way to the carriages that would take us back up to the castle and to the welcome back feast.

Oliver climbed up before me and held out his hand to help me up into the carriage. I was small ok? I took his hand as he pulled me up gently into the wooden self-pulled transport.

As soon as I was settled in the carriage comfortably, I smiled at Oliver in a way of saying thanks. To say I was startled when he knelt down in front of me, put his hands on my face and gazed deep into my eyes was an understatement.

"Oliver what are you doing?" I stuttered as he got closer to my face and peered straight at my eyes. To be honest, it was terrifying and definitely made me uneasy.

"Vannah, your eyes," he whispered as confusion laced his voice. One of the older Gryffindor girls that was already in the carriage handed me a compact mirror. I opened it slowly and raised it to my eyes. I nearly dropped it in shock when I saw the eyes that stared back at me.

Gone was my usual, beautiful sapphire blue and in its place was a dark grey, almost black colour swirling through my eyes. I was even more startled when they started to change to a light grey. What the hinky-punk was going on?!

"O-Oliver," I stuttered out as I blinked my eyes and pinched my leg to make sure that I wasn't dreaming. I was confused and most definitely scared, I had no idea what was going on and it wasn't like I could ask anyone what was happening.

Fred and George sat down next to me as Oliver took the compact mirror away from me and gave it back to the Gryffindor. They all sat next to me, to keep me calm, but it wasn't doing anything to stop the multitude of emotions that flowed through my veins.

We had finally reached the upper courtyard of the castle. Awaiting for someone was Professor Dumbledore himself. Oliver jumped down from the carriage first and then spun around to help me down. I placed my hands on his shoulders as he put his hands on my waist as he lifted me down from the carriage.

I smiled in thanks and brushed down my uniform to rid it of any creases and kinks. Oliver put his hand on my shoulder as a comforting gesture.

Professor Dumbledore smiled at us and looked directly at Wood.

"I hope you are ready for the Quidditch game tomorrow Mr Wood," Professor Dumbledore smiled as he looked at us over his half-moon spectacles. His grin was enough to make anyone feel safe and I knew that even if I was freaking out over my all of a sudden changing colour eyes, Dumbledore could help me.

"Of course Professor," Oliver replied politely with a smile. I could tell he was worried, but also excited at the same time. Oliver was always excited about Quidditch, the only thing he could practically worry about is me. I'm just a burden to him.

"Would you and the Weasley twins go on ahead, there is something I think Miss Chambers would like to discuss with me," Dumbledore smiled down at me knowingly and I silently thanked the heavens that Dumbledore knew exactly how I was feeling right about now.

Oliver and the twins almost looked like they didn't want to leave, but with a silent nod, they all started to make their way towards the Great Hall, while more and more students made their way up to the upper courtyard.

"Well Miss Chambers, what seems to be troubling you this fine evening?" He asked as we took the longer route to the Great Hall.

"Everything that I have dealing with is about Christian, but on our way up here, Oliver realised something unusual about my eyes. What's happening to me Professor?" I asked as I looked up at him. He looked equally shocked as he studied my ever-changing eyes.

"It is most extraordinary Miss Chambers, the way genetics work. Your eyes are a hereditary trait, which usually only go to the third born. I assure you, my child, it is nothing to be frightened of, as you can learn to control it with help. Eyes might be the window to the soul, but we can't have anyone connecting the colours to your emotions. Emotions are after all, our most dangerous giveaway," he whispered as he watched my eyes closely.

"But Professor, how am I supposed to keep it contained? How am I supposed to know what each colour means, or if they're showing or not?" I asked as my previous thoughts and worries came to mind.

Dumbledore just looked at me quietly and it instantly made me feel like I had to remain calm otherwise, who knew what would happen.

"You need to remain calm Miss Chambers. The colour of your eyes does not reflect who you are as a person, but merely your emotions. You will learn to control them, therefore you will not be at risk when someone tries to hurt you or someone you love. For example, Christian and Laurel," Dumbledore's voice was low and gentle, but there was no denying the hurt I felt when I thought of my siblings. "Interesting, very interesting," I heard Dumbledore mumble in front of me and I looked up at the headmaster.

"I'm sorry Professor, but what is?" I asked as I could feel a slight tingle go through my veins.

"Your eyes change, once you start thinking about different memories," Dumbledore whispered as he looked at my undoubtedly non-natural coloured eyes.

We had reached the Great Hall with a few minutes to spare before Dumbledore's welcome back speech. The double doors were open already, so Dumbledore and I walked straight through. I was met by all sorts of weird glances, but the most annoying look I got was sympathy.

I know that they all felt bad for me about Christian, but that didn't mean they needed to treat me like I was a bloody snow-globe.

"Vannah, we saved you a seat!" Oliver cried out with a smile, as he stood up from Gryffindor's table. Fred and George looked down the table to see me walk through and they instantly smiled even though I knew that they were probably talking about me before I had entered.

I smiled at them and made my way over to the side where Oliver had saved me the supposed 'seat'. When I got close Oliver took one look at me and instantly his face was sympathetic and almost pitiful.

"Did Dumbledore answer any of your questions?" He asked as we both sat down at the Gryffindor table.

"He answered it with questions and riddles to be honest," I replied as I made myself comfortable on the wooden bench.

"What do you mean questions and riddles?" Fred asked as he looked up from George's hands from a game that they were playing and he jumped in shock when he looked into my eyes. "What the hell happened to your eyes?!" Fred gasped as he leant across the table to glance straight into my eyes.

"Back off Fred, I'm not in the mood to answer any questions," I snapped as I ran my hands through my hair. I watched as Fred recoiled back in shock and hurt and I instantly felt bad. "I'm sorry Fred, there's just so much going on, I promise I will fill you in later okay?" I smiled gently as an attempt to try and fix the damage that I had done. Fred smiled before he nodded slightly.

"Your attention please," Professor McGonagall's voice echoed over the Great Hall and everyone quietened down to listen to the welcome back speech from Professor Dumbledore.

"Welcome back to another semester at Hogwarts. I hope you are all ready for the Quidditch season and the end of school exams. Good luck to the senior students in their O.W.L's and N.E.W.T's. Good luck to Gryffindor and Slytherin who are the first houses to play against each other in the Quidditch Cup knock out rounds. After the feast, all students are to return to their common rooms, lights out are at normal times," Dumbledore's voice made everyone silent as they listened to the great wizard.

"Now, I am sure you are all aware that over the Christmas break, Christian Chambers was viciously attacked in the confines of his own home. He was taken to St Mungo's with serious burns," I blocked out Dumbledore's voice as I jumped up from the wooden bench and ran straight out the doors and away from the Great Hall and away from the stories of Christian.

"Vannah!" I heard Oliver's voice as it echoed off the walls of the now silent Great Hall and the empty corridors of Hogwarts. "Vannah, please wait!" His Scottish accent should have been enough to make me stop, but I didn't want to, not when there were so many people wanting to know about Christian and if I wasn't careful, it was most definitely going to lead back to Laurel. I couldn't go through that, not again.

I couldn't run anymore and collapsed onto the ground as tears ran freely down my face.

"Vannah," Oliver's silky smooth voice whispered in my ear as his arms wrapped around me in a safe embrace. My fists balled into Oliver's uniform as sobs racked my body. Oliver rocked me back and forth and whispered soothingly in my ear. "It's all going to be ok, you'll see. You're going to be alright," his voice was enough to soothe me into a dreamless sleep.

The next morning there was colour everywhere. Most of it was the scarlet red and the bold gold of Gryffindor, but there were a few emerald green and light silver scarves supporting the Slytherin team. I walked into the Great Hall to be met by many Gryffindor students chattering excitedly about the predicted outcome of today's game.

Gryffindor was the favourite, as the house always was, but that had to do with Oliver Wood and the Seeker, Charlie Weasley. I could tell it was going to be a great match, even though it was the first one that I had ever actually watched.

"Vannah," the familiar voice behind me made me spin around and I almost lost my balance from how close Oliver actually was to me.

"Oliver, thank you for taking me to the common room last night," I smiled sheepishly as he smiled.

"You are my friend Vannah, I will always be there for you, even if you can't see me," he replied honestly as more and more people started to file into the Great Hall for the breakfast before the first game of the season.

"Thank you Oliver," I whispered as I turned around and we both started to make our way toward our usual spots at our house table.

"Good luck today Oliver!" A few Ravenclaw girls said with a smile and a wave as we passed them.

"Thanks!" He replied with a smile and a wave and when he turned to look at me, he looked shocked, yet confused at the same time.

"Your eyes are showing a new colour," he whispered in my ear so nobody else could hear him. I started to get nervous, but forced myself to calm down.

"Eyes are the betrayer of emotion, stay calm," I thought to myself and with a few calming, deep breathes I turned to look at Oliver.

"Are they back to normal?" I asked as we sat down on the wooden bench and began to grab different breakfast items.

"Yeah," he replied as he shovelled some scrambled eggs into his mouth. I smiled to myself and let out the breathe I didn't even realise I was holding.

"Attention, it is time for the first match of the season, everyone to the Quidditch Pitch," Dumbledore's voice could be singled out above all the chatter of the students. Oliver and I quickly finished off what was left of our breakfast, before standing up with the rest of the school and made our way to the Quidditch Pitch.

Oliver was excited to play again, that much was obvious, but I was nervous. What if I was cornered? I wouldn't have Oliver to protect me. I knew that I could rely on Fred and George, but I have no idea where they could possibly be at this time of morning. There were probably with their brothers, Charlie and Percy.

-DYBiM-

The stands of the Quidditch Pitch were absolutely packed. There were literally more students than I had even seen at Hogwarts. I had left Oliver in the Gryffindor tent and locker room, while of course, wishing him luck and then made my way up the mountain that were staircases to the very top.

"Sav!" Angelina's voice pulled me in the right direction, with trying to find a seat. I found one quickly, thanks to her, right at the front, get-out-of-the-way-or-I'll-hex-you attitude.

"Hey Angelina, did I miss anything?" I asked as I pulled my Gryffindor scarf even tighter around my neck to ward off the cold as it nipped at my exposed skin.

"Hello and welcome to the first Quidditch match of the season. Today's game, Slytherin versus Gryffindor!" A voice that sounded all too familiar echoed around the pitch and I knew that the game would be starting soon. "I'm Lee Jordan and I am your commentator. Let's welcome the teams!" Lee's voice sounded all to ecstatic and I wondered how he had even managed to get this job.

"On Slytherin we have the Captain and Beater, Antonio Stevenson. Chasers are Eva Bowman, Lorenzo Floyd and Rebecca Ruiz, Keeper is Roger Barton, the second Beater is Johnnie Hines and the Seeker, Ellen Gonzalez!" Slytherin's side went up in cheers at the mention of their team, as Slytherin's team flew out onto the field. They looked fierce, I hope Oliver would be alright.

"Now Gryffindor! On our marvellous team we have the Captain and Seeker, Charlie Weasley, Chasers are Macy Eng, Deirdra Hiat and Cherise Sellers, Beaters are Yan Browning and Sade Hammonds and our Keeper, Oliver Wood!" Students from all the different houses erupted into cheers.

The players all took their positions on the field as Madame Hooch stepped out to release the balls. It didn't take long for action to be taking place on every inch of the field. Oliver did a wonderful job keeping the Quaffle out of the rings and he did an even better job at annoying the Slytherin Chasers.

"Oh and Wood stops another attempt for a goal from Slytherin chaser Rebecca Ruiz! He's really kicking up a storm! Oh, what's this!? Charlie Weasley has spotted the Snitch! GO CHARLIE, GO!" Lee's voice was so ecstatic and loud, I'm surprised he wasn't kicked out of the teacher's box, where I had just found out he was stationed.

"GO CHARLIE!" I heard all the older Gryffindor's screech and Angelina, Alicia, Katie, Eila and I couldn't help but screech along with them.

Charlie got closer and closer to the flitting gold orb and as he reached his hand out it flew into his path. He stretched his fingers and leant further on the broom, desperate to get even a little bit more speed, before his hand enclosed around it, making the whole of Gryffindor, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw cry out in victory.

"YES!" I heard Lee's voice screech and I wasn't surprised when I heard Professor McGonagall scold him.

Gryffindor did a victory lap, before they took off into their tent.

"Come on, let's go!" I cried excitedly as we made our way to the Gryffindor tent. I couldn't wait to see Oliver and congratulate him on a game well played.

I turned the corner and opened the flap of the tent, but my mood was instantly flattened by what I saw. Oliver and another girl were wrapped up in each other's arms having a good old victory snog. I was one hundred per cent sure my heart had shattered.

I turned around and ran out of the tent and passed my gobsmacked friends. I didn't care about my emotions. I had lost Laurel, Christian, Oliver and now myself.

There was no turning back. Not anymore.
