Chapter 9

Jason began to awaken, blinking his eyes he set the empath right next to him. He tried to move, but there was no way he could untangle himself from the position they were in. Raven was practically sleeping on top of him.

His faced heated up just thinking about her, she was just the most beautiful person he ever laid his eyes upon. He touched her soft silky purple hair, and moved it from her face. Her eyes were fluffy from their last conversation.

She moved from his touch, pressing his body deeper into the couch. His body was resting on the couches arm, his body was numb and it hurt him. So much that he began quietly laughing. The burning sensation he felt was making him laugh even harder. It was just like the sensation of ants crawling unto his skin.

"Uh Blue Bird?" He called to her as he lightly patted her.

She began to stir, making the numbness hurt him more. He couldn't take it anymore so he moved accidently falling with her unto the floor.

"Jason… what happened?" She whispered with her sleepy voice.

Jason took a hold of her, he was thankful she fell on him and not the other way around. He told her not to move, to stay the way they were. She didn't question it, after a few minutes he told her it was fine that they got up.

And she did, and afterwards asked him what was going on, and he proceeded to explain to her what happened.

"How did I even get on top of you?" She questioned walking away.

Jason put his hands up surrendering, "I have no idea, but trust me I didn't try anything."

Raven narrowed her eyes at him, she began to stretch knowing his conscious was free of any dirty thoughts.

"What time is it?" She asked trying to change the subject.

"Around midnight."

"Is that so?" She questions looking outside the midnight sky. She was intrigued by the city lights that help illuminated the sky.

"Are you hungry?" Jason questioned walking over to her.

"Yeah." She answered looking at the big round moon.

"Let's go eat, I doubt anyone would be out this late anyways."

"Sure, but I'm going to change into something more comfortable." Raven said looking over her current outfit.

"What's wrong with what you're wearing?" He questions looking at her, she was wearing black leggings that complemented her nice long legs and an oversized blue sweater.

"I'm not going like this." She fought back feeling uneasy as his eyes were on her. She quickly left the living room to go change.

He chuckled at her sudden action and began to look for the keys as he waited for her.

After a couple of minutes, she finally came out, looking good like always. She wore some navy blue skinny jeans that made her figure extremely pleasing to look at. And a black tank top complementing a nice olive green trench coat with some nice black combat boots.

"You look hot." Jason pointed out gazing upon her.

"Really?" She questions looking over herself. Jason nodded as he took his and headed towards the door.

"Ladies first." She quickly walked over to him and headed down the lobby finding no one there. Just as expected they paid no mind to it and headed over the parking lot. Jason pointed out the car, a matte black corvette with nice black red rims.

Of course, the car would look like his own villain outfit.

"Nice ride." Raven complemented as he opened the door for her.

"Thanks, I do like to complement the girls."

Right after Jason said that he knew he had fucked up. The mood wasn't the same after that. Raven blanked him out. The whole car ride was full on simple answers such as yes, no, okay and I don't know.

"So where would you like to go eat?" He asked her trying to find a reason for them to talk.

At this point, Raven wasn't even hungry, she had even forgotten why she was still with him. After all they were to different to make it work.

"It doesn't matter, after all this was your idea."

Jason looked for a place to park, so he could talk to Raven and apologize to her.

"Look Raven, I'm trying, but all you do just shut me out!" Jason half yelled.

"No one asked you to try," Raven retorted with no emotion looking away from him.

"I want to try! I care for you, but for no apparent reason you make it so hard for me to be with you."

"Maybe I don't want you to try Jason!" She finally spat out. Causing a trash can to blow up. She closed her eyes a tried to breath, knowing that their conversation would only let her emotions get the best of her.

She got out of the car, and knew it was best for her to have sometime of her own. Being with someone and trying her best to cope with these sudden feelings was something new for her.

Jason got out of the car and locked it, he called out to her but she ignored it. He decided to run after her after all he couldn't let her go.

Finally catching up to her, he took her hand and stopped her. Looking straight at her hypnotizing purple eyes he said "Look I'm sorry, I know you must feel uncomfortable, and I get that. But can't you at least try?"

Raven snatched her hand from his hold, these feelings she began to hold for him were unexplainable and it scared her. Because every time she felt something for anyone there was always something to ruin it. She was scared, after all she felt this way towards Jason, someone she would never imagine was capable to take anything serious.

"You can't make me do anything." With that she walked away, she walked away from her feelings.

Jason frowned, aching pain he felt when she said that was indescribable. He watched her go, sighing he ran his hand towards his fingers. She was harder to figure out than he thought.

Raven knew she might have done a horrible mistake, running away from someone who might care for her.

She kept walking the same thoughts surrounding her mind. The wind began to pick up speed, she was now on the park and decided to sit on the bench. Resting her legs, knowing she walked a long way.

She watched the swing sets being moved by the air, as she fell in deep thought.

Why he cared for her anyways? She sighed knowing her life was more complicated than it needed to be. Maybe she was overly reacting, after all Jason and Red X were the same person. She couldn't expect him to change just for her.

He was still a villain and they their tittles were too different. Raven believed that there was no one out there for her. Especially since she spent all her heart and soul on a person who didn't care for her at the end.

Maybe she was broken and just needed someone to fix her.

After a while she decided to go back, maybe apologizing wouldn't fix everything but it would be a start for them. Getting up from the bench she decided to follow the same path that she came from.

After a while she felt a much too familiar presence. Her heart raised knowing too well who it was. She hated the fact that he had so much effect on her. But she had to put herself together, this person will not have power over her.

"I know it's you, Changeling."

The presence finally stopped coming closer to her, but he didn't come out.

"Whatever, I don't have time for these games anymore." She kept walking never looking back.

She heard a ruffle from the nearby bushes that were behind her. She had no intent to turn around and see him, so she pretended that he wasn't there.

But before she knew it, she was on the ground. She slowly opened her eyes, she met a pair of green emeralds. She felt her heart burn going back to the time when they fought and he choose the blond instead of her.

"Can you get off me." She asked annoyed that he had her on the ground and he was on top of her pinning her down.

He slowly released her, dusting themselves off he proceeded to apologized. Raven remained with no emotion, it was hard for her to face the fact that he finally showed up. After months of not seeing him she couldn't take it.

"I just had to make sure it was you. Lately I have been seeing illusions, but I'm glad you're okay." The green Changeling was rambling things that didn't make sense, but Raven didn't care to ask. Although she notice his tired face, she could tell he hadn't had any proper sleep.

"You followed me?!" I angrily question, knowing he followed her scent. She narrowed her eyes at him knowing he could know wherever she was when he wanted to find her.

"No, it was merely a coincidence, I can't actually smell you anymore." He tried to explain.

"Whatever, you don't have to worry about me anymore. We aren't teammates." She stated.

He chuckled, "Well I do have to make sure the Titans aren't in any trouble."

"Hate to break it to you, but I'm not a Titan anymore."

His eyes widen in shock, knowing it was indeed a long time since the last made contact.

"Why, what happened?" He questioned wanting to more of what he had missed the last couple of months.

"Like I said, there is no need to worry about me, we are not teammates or in any way connected we are just simply strangers."

The changeling was taken back by her cold words. But he couldn't blame her, they didn't exactly end in a good note.

"Well I guess you're right. But Raven I never intended to hurt you in anyway." He tried to explain feeling guilty of whatever was happening in her life.

She smiled, but it was more of a sad smile, "And I never intended to fall for you. But sometimes somethings can't be helped."

"Would I ever see you again?" He asked knowing the answer.

"I hope not, rather get away from everything holding me back." She responded looking away from him.

"You want to forget everything we been through?"

She nodded.

"Well, I can't change your mind." He replied scratching the back of his head.

"No, not anymore." Simply with those final words she began to walk away. Leaving the green man hurt but also relief knowing that the dark empath was safe and not hurt.

He wished he could have done for her to return, but he knew it was best to let her go. To move on from whatever was holding her back just like she wanted, little did he knew that was a mistake he would live to regret.
