It's been a while.
I'm doing a series called 25 Days of Christmas. The goal is to upload a ficlet every day until Christmas. This is the first, using the prompt, "harmonious." I probably won't be uploading another chapter here this month, but I haven't abandoned Daisuke and Jun yet ^_^
A Japanese assignment turned in by Motomiya Daisuke during middle school:
My favorite holiday is Christmas. I know it isn't a real holiday in Japan, but it's nice. I get to spend all day with my friends. We have a snowball fight every year in the morning before we go on a street food tour in the afternoon! We start with the sweet potato vendor by the park and get hot chocolate from the bakery and eat from as many street carts as we can find until we finish with my favorite noodle cart by the high school. If we have time, we go to the movies too. Last year, we watched the American movie that premiered, but I don't remember what it was called. It was a lot of fun and I finally got to sit next to Hikari, even if she kept whispering to Takeru.
Even if Christmas Day is fun, my favorite part is Christmas Eve. That's when my family watches a drama marathon that Dad recorded and we eat cookies that Mama bakes. I usually help her, except for that time two years ago when I was busy saving the world instead. No, really, I was fighting evil Digimon with my friends on Christmas Eve. I didn't even get to go eat all of the street food on Christmas like I wanted to! So, we all get together and watch the drama that Dad chooses, and eat the cookies that Mama bakes, and my sister and I decorate the tree. Without arguing. It's really hard, but somehow we manage. You see, a couple of years ago, Mama got into an accident and she was in the hospital for a long time. She didn't get discharged until Christmas Eve and to celebrate, Jun and I promised each other not to argue anymore ever again. That only lasted for a day, but it made Mama really happy to see us getting along, so the next year we promised her that we wouldn't argue on Christmas Eve anymore. If we do, we aren't allowed to go out on Christmas Day and have to spend the whole day tied together instead. Literally. She did it to us once the year when Jun tried to kill me again. And I accidentally almost killed her.
Still, it's a lot of fun. I really like my sister when she's being a real human person, and she only does that for Christmas. She's really smart and gives good advice sometimes when she isn't getting me into trouble. Sometimes I wish we could get along on other days of the year too. Mama says that won't really happen until we're older and more mature. Hopefully, Mama's right but she's been wrong before.
