Phew! This was a bit late in coming, but school will do that. I'll try to have the next one out sooner!
"Talisman of Light!" Shouted the ultimate-level humanoid digimon. She wore a fox-like mask and a robe with overly large sleeves. Taomon took a massive paintbrush out of one sleeve and painted a glowing symbol in the sky. It sent down a beam of light, knocking the fractal code out of the digimon below.
"Don't let her escape!" An Ogremon yelled from below. He drummed on his green chest and struck a dobermon with his club. "Get her!" Ogremon yelled again, pointing his finger in the air where the masked yellow digimon floated.
"Thousand Spells!" She called again, shooting hundreds of red talismans out of her sleeves. They detonated on contact, but the army kept coming. A "HuuuuyAH!" Sound echoed from below, and Taomon looked to see the Ogremon leaping for her. She was floating far too high, however, and Ogremon fell to the ground.
A buzzing sound interrupted the moment, and Taomon turned to see a swarm of Tentomon powering up their "Super Shockers!" She cried out "Talisman spell!" And the electric bolts bounced harmlessly off a hemispherical Ying-Yang shield.
Taomon looked up through her mask and squinted at the blue sky above the narrow alleyways she was currently fighting in. She could escape easily if she wished, but she hadn't finished her job.
"Brush Stroke!" Taomon brought her paintbrush smashing down onto a group of rookie level digimon attempting to fire various attacks in her direction. Fractal code and digi-eggs spun into the air had floated off.
Suddenly furious screeching could be heard and reinforcements arrived from above. A trio of black-winged Karatenmon dove from the sky.
Magnaangemon snapped a berry-loaded twig off a high bush and chewed on it absentmindedly. He had more or less gotten over killing Tsukaimon the past few days, but avoided fighting and Tactimons army all together. It just didn't seem right. Scrounging for food, always looking over your shoulder. He had lived in a luxurious palace with Seraphimon since they had left the Village of New Beginnings. Looking back made him wistful.
The eight-winged angel shook himself out of his thoughts and tossed the now bare twig away. All this walking was tiring, and he dreaded the thought of confrontation. Magnaangemon was deep in what was formerly the area around FortuneTeller Village, but since Tactimons invasion was just more enemy territory. He listened to conversations on the other side of city walls, tall, thick ones erected to prevent escapees. Nothing useful, except the fact that most digimon were working as slaves for some purpose. He didn't know what they were making, or searching for, or mining, or something. Just that they were working.
Suddenly bushes rustled, and Magnaangemon shot up into a tree. He watched three dobermon trek by.
He sighed and peered through the branches. Magnaangemon blinked, then squinted. Smoke was rising from fortuneteller village. Since Tactimon's reign, it had grown dramatically. An explosion boomed, and he dashed through the trees, surprisingly stealthy for such a large digimon. He had learned a thing or two, after all.
The cries of soldiers and more explosions told the angel a fight was going on. Of which kind, he had no idea. He arrived at the wall of the village, a good forty feet high, and looked up through his helmet to hear a massive explosion, and see something dark go flying into the woodland. Magnaangemon grumbled and turned back the way he had come.
As he ran, Magnaangemon realized that whatever had been flung from the city, Tactimons troops would soon be after it. He ran faster, if he had learned anything about Tactimons guard, it was that they were slow. All that organization came with a price, and hopefully he would receive the payment.
The great angel stumbled to a halt near the edge of the forest. A large shape was lying behind a pile of rocks out in a field. He looked about carefully and set an ear for Tactimon's troops. Nothing yet, but every instinct told him they weren't far behind.
Magnaangemon lifted his feet off the ground and flew over to where the shape lay, broken. A digimon about as tall as him lay there. She was obviously very powerful, and wore incredibly long sleeves which went down to her ankles. One of her arms appeared to be broken, it was twisted and looked as if she had landed on it.
Magnaangemon scratched the back of his head under his helmet and muttered, "What am I going to do."
Taomon woke to see rocky walls arching over her on either side. Her vision was blurry, and something in her arm felt excruciatingly painful. She tried to raise her head and look around, but a large hand gently set it to the ground again.
"Calm... won't hurt..." She squinted through her mask, trying to make out the fuzzy words. Turning her head, a large white shape was bending over her, and behind it, the smaller, fuzzy image of a blue-clothed figure.
Taomon gasped and fell back into darkness.
