Chapter 1: New Home and New Friends
A young child walked through some bushes and onto a matted forest path, he stopped as he gripped his scale-patterned scarf while looking up at the sky.
'Grandpa... Mom...' The young boy gripped his scarf harder as he thought of his family. It had been weeks since he had seen the two, one moment he was living happily with the two then the next, they completely vanished. "GRANDPA IGNEEL! HELIA!" The young boy called out as he looked around the surrounding woods. "WHERE ARE YOU GUYS?! C'MON ON OUT!"
"Please..." The child looked down as some tears welled inside his eyes. "You guys know that I don't like being alone... Please come back..."
As some tears fell down his face, the boy began to recall past memories.
September 14, X775
"WOAHH!" The young boy screamed in delight as he hung onto the crimson scales of a giant red dragon. His salmon hair flowed in the wind as he looked at the pillowy clouds parting as the dragon flew through them, the force of the dragon's flight send powerful gusts into the forest and lakes, shaking the trees and making waves in the waterways. "Wow, Grandpa Igneel! This is so cool!" The young child laid onto the dragon as he smiled widely and brightly.
The dragon chuckled as he looked back at the child. "I'm glad you're having fun, Natsu. But you haven't seen the full force of the King of the Fire Dragons!" Igneel smiled cockily as he leaned his head down. "Hang on tight, Natsu!" Igneel then picked up speed, practically speeding through the air and causing the clouds to part as the dragon flew higher into the air. Despite hanging on the beast for dear life, Natsu smiled widely and happily as he looked down at the beautiful landscape. As Igneel flew higher into the sky, Natsu stared at the beautiful scenery of clouds, land, and water with an astonishing smile growing on his face. Igneel stopped in mid-air and levitated above a grassy plain, making the young child tilt his head.
"Why'd you stop, Grandpa?"
Igneel began flapping his wings and began flying eastwards. "We need to start heading home, Natsu. Helia should be heading towards there now."
Natsu laid down on Igneel as he began to think. "Why does Mom always have to worry anyway? I'm strong so she doesn't have to worry all the time."
Igneel tilted his head. "It's because you're her only child, Natsu. She always going to worry because she loves you. Once you're older, I'm sure you'll understand." The dragon began to chuckle as he heard the young boy begin to grumble. The dragon began to flap his wings again as he slowed down and landed on a grassy plain. Once Igneel landed, Natsu jumped off the dragon and began to run towards a nearby large cave.
As he slowed down from running, Natsu panted as he walked through the cavern. "Helia?" He called out into the darkness but got no response. "Helia!" Natsu called out louder, turning around to observe his surroundings. He stopped as he felt himself back into something, beginning to feel a bit anxious as he looked into the deep darkness. "Where are you, Mom...?" He whispered as he began to frown but stopped as a calming warmth began to surround him.
Suddenly, the cave was filled with light emitting from behind Natsu, causing the young child to turn to see the source. As he turned, a large dragon with cherry-red scales and streaks of turquoise spreading within her wings, covering her claws, and trailing down her backside. The dragon flapped her wings, spreading the embers that were emitting from her wings throughout the entirety of the cave, making the cavern enveloped in soothing warmth. "Natsu..." The reptile spoke as she lowered her head, showing off a gentle smile as she looked at the child. "Did I scare you, my child?"
Natsu's eyes widened briefly before looking away from the dragon as he puffed his cheeks. "What?! No! I just couldn't tell where you were, that's all. Don't sneak up on me like that, Mom!" Helia began chuckling, making the young pinkette blush in frustration. "What's so funny?!"
"Oh nothing, I'm just enjoying my son's antics is all." The dragon lowered her head down to look the young child in his eyes, smiling softly. "Say Natsu, why don't you rest for a bit? Grandfather and I need to discuss something."
The young boy grumbled but eventually tried to fight to give away a yawn but failed, making the female dragon chuckle at the cute display. Natsu blushed a bit before turning his head away. "I'm not that tired yet..."
The female dragon shook her head as she lifted her head, looking out from the cave to see the setting sun. She looked to see Natsu puffing his cheeks in annoyance again, making the dragon sigh as she smiled and extended her claw out toward the child. "Come my child, hop onto me." Natsu raised an eyebrow but did as he was told, he climbed onto the dragon's claw and laid onto her bright blonde white hair. As Natsu lay on his mother, his eyes grew heavy and he began sinking deeper into the locks. Helia looked back at the child and smiled warmly. "Natsu," The young child grunted softly in response. "Sleep well, my child."
The young boy grinned while he slept, enjoying the gentle warmness that was his mother and Helia smiled as she watched Natsu but turned her head as she heard Igneel enter to face her. Suddenly, the older dragon frowned as he folded his massive arms while sitting against the cavern walls.
"We can't keep Natsu in the dark forever, Helia." The older dragon spoke sternly. "Every day Acnologia kills more and more dragons and it won't be too long until he finds us. I may be the Fire Dragon King but I wouldn't make it through the battle unscathed."
Helia raised her head, glaring deep into her father's eyes. "And what are you suggesting? I allow Natsu to fight that monster in your place? You may be my father but I am not risking that boy's life. I would rather go in his place."
"That is what I am suggesting..." Helia stared at Igneel as her eyes widened, she was stunned at what she had heard.
"Father, you can't be serious... Are you?" Igneel nodded his head as he exhaled from his nostrils. He tilted his head back and looked out towards the sky outside the cave.
"Grandeeney is gathering the remaining dragons to find a safe home, and some dragons like Weisslogia and Skiadrum are trying to recruit some allied wizards to help put up a defense against him. The only dragons who are still willing to fight against Acnologia are Metalicana, Atlas, Motherglade, and myself..." Igneel closed his eyes briefly as he sighed before looking into his daughter's eyes. "I can't promise that we will be successful in defeating him but, if we can at least incapacitate him or render him incapable of fighting, that should be enough."
"That is so Natsu and the other children can finish him off for good, that's what you are referring to aren't you?" Helia looked at igneel sternly. She slammed her claws into the ground when Igneel did not answer. "And what makes you so sure Natsu will be strong enough?! What if he fails and dies?! You yourself said you're not strong enough to defeat him so what makes you so sure he will?! Do you not care for Natsu?!"
"Of course, I care for him." The older dragon spoke plainly before smiling. "I care enough for him that I believe in his strength, you may not believe in it but I do. I've seen him grow not only as a young man but also as a developing warrior and I see him master Dragon Slayer Magic much faster than the other children. Soon, there will be a day when you and I can no longer teach him, he might even surpass our strength..." Igneel frowned and sighed as he watched Helia look away with a saddened expression. "There is a way for you to be with him..."
Helia raised her head as she stared into her father's eyes with hopeful astonishment. "Where will we need to go? I promise to keep him safe as we get away!"
"You'll be with Natsu, just not in a physical form." Helia raised an eyebrow but Igneel kept his face stern. "I can promise to keep you with the boy but you will have to give up your body for the rest of your life. There's a binding spell I can cast to seal you within Natsu, however, that is all you would be. Your soul would be the only living essence you would have, you will be able to re-manifest your body once again but know that once you do and exit Natsu's body, you will die. It'd be the last resort to save the boy."
Helia lowered her head as she took all of that statement. "... If I choose to fight Acnologia with you, do you think our combined efforts would be able to defeat him?"
Igneel lowered his head and looked away. "If I'm being completely honest, I don't know. I don't doubt our capabilities but I've never seen a powerful opponent to Dragons before, not including other dragons. By now, Acnologia has killed hundreds, if not thousands, of Dragons. For what reason, I do not know."
"Are you scared of him, Father?"
Igneel chuckled as he heard Helia's worried tone. "Not of Acnologia, but of the message he is sending. He's not just killing Dragons but also humans, it's as if he wants nothing more than to destroy everything... A complete madman..." Igneel turned to face his daughter. "As a father and grandfather, I want you, Ignia, and Natsu to live in a peaceful world. Not to be slaves ruled by an insane tyrant. Even if it risks my life, I will protect this world and my children... What will your choice be, Helia?"
She tilted her head down at the cave floor, her mind weighing in on the options she had. She would either go with her father and face the most dangerous threat to the entire world and most likely die fighting or she would be placed inside her son's body, being able to watch over him and save him from an even more dangerous threat in his future. But she wouldn't live to see him grow after saving him because she would die. In either option, her death was the end result. After staying silent for a few minutes, Helia looked up at Igneel with a determined glint in her eyes.
"I choose to stay with Natsu. You have protected the two of us for as long as you could, Father and I will honor that by protecting this child. I believe in him as well and will watch over him as long as I can. If I have to die protecting him, so be it. That is the role of a parent."
Natsu shivered as he lay underneath a tree branch as the rain poured throughout the forest. He had walked through this grove and mountain range for a year now, his body was covered in bruises and cuts from the many beasts he fought and escaped from. It had been even longer since he saw a dragon or even another human and he was beginning to lose hope that he would.
"Mom..." He whimpered quietly. "Grandpa... Where did you two go? I'm all alone and you guys know that I hate being alone..." He closed his eyes, biting his lip as tears began welling inside his eyes. "Come back... Please..." Just as the tears began to fall, sounds of footsteps began filling Natsu's ears and as the young child opened his eyes, he looked up to see an elderly man with a thick mustache looking at him. Natsu sat up and looked at the elderly man in his eyes. "W... Who are you? Some kind of hunter?"Natsu asked weakly.
The elderly man shook his head and sighed. "No, no. I'm just an old man on a walk. My name is Makarov Dreyar. Tell me, young one," The old man knelt down and he looked at Natsu with a worried frown. "What are you doing out in the wilderness by yourself? Don't you have a family looking for you?"
Natsu frowned as he stood up, looking angry as he wiped his face. "That's who I'm looking for. My mom and my grandfather used to be the three of us living out in the woods together but they left one day without telling me... So I'm gonna find them and once I do, I'm gonna kick their assess for leaving me behind!" As Natsu exclaimed, he wobbled as he took a step forward, allowing the elderly man to catch him.
"First, you need to rest and get some food in you then we'll see if we can find your family." The man chuckled as he turned around and allowed the young boy to lie on his back as he picked Natsu up. "I'll have to get some clothes for you as well but first, we're going to get you healed up."
"Thank you, old man..." Natsu spoke groggily, his eyes beginning to feel heavy.
The old man chuckled as he began walking southwards and out of the forest. "By the way, what is your name, young one?"
"Natsu... Natsu Dragneel..." With that last statement, the young boy's eyes closed and he fell asleep as Makarov carried him.
"YOU WERE RAISED BY DRAGONS?!" Makarov and an elderly pink-haired woman exclaimed as they stared at Natsu with wide eyes.
As Natsu sat on the bed, finishing the last of his soup while his body was covered in bandages, he faced the adults with a wide smile. "Yup!" He nodded. "Two dragons! My mom Helia and my grandpa Igneel!" The two adults turned to face each other before looking back at Natsu, still looking stunned by what left his mouth which caused Natsu to look at them confused. "What did I say? Something wrong?"
The elderly lady blinked before clearing her throat. "Child, are you aware of what you just said? You said you were raised by dragons, are you sure?"
Natsu sat up and frowned in anger. "Yes I'm sure, they have wings, and scales and can even breathe fire. You don't believe me, Granny Porlyusica?"
Porlyusica shook her head as she looked at the child sternly. "Are you not aware that all dragons are extinct? There hasn't been a sighting of one for at least a century!"
"I'm serious! Here! Watch this!" Natsu hopped out of bed and ran to the fireplace where the pot of soup was cooking. He then grabbed some of the fire sticks, eating the fire but before the adults could stop him, he held out his hand. A blue flame with a yellowish-orange center sprouted from inside, surprising the two adults. "My mom Helia and my grandpa Igneel taught me their magic! I'm a Dragon Slayer!"
"That's... That's impossible." Makarov spoke as he stood dumbfounded. He then rubbed the back of his neck and then his face. "That's a Lost Magic, I've never heard nor seen of a Dragon and I've certainly never met a Dragon Slayer. That kind of Magic hasn't been seen in years."
Natsu's eyes widened before he looked away from the adults. He then shook his head and grunted. "No!" He shouted. "I know that Dragons are real! I'm gonna prove it by finding them again! I swear it!"
"And what will you do if you encounter strong opponents on your way to find your family?" Porlyusica asked sternly. "You don't have a home and you're not always going to find nice people like us who will be willing to help."
Natsu opened his mouth slightly before frowning sadly. "I have to find them..." The child spoke as he looked down, clenching his fists as he began to feel saddened. "They're the only family I have... I need to see them again, I'll get stronger so that I stand by their side again."
"Then, I have a proposition for you, Natsu." The young pinkette looked up at the elderly man who had a reassuring smile on his face. "Join our guild and we'll help you."
Natsu raised an eyebrow as he tilted his head. "A guild? What is a guild?"
"It's where people gifted with magical abilities such as yourself can come to help themselves. They take jobs like fighting monsters or just helping people, it's a place where people can be themselves and help themselves get stronger. Well," Makarov chuckled. "Our guild allows us to be ourselves."
"But what would I have to do to join? Do I need to prove myself?
"Nothing at all." Makarov waved his hand at the young child and smiled. "Fairy Tail may be a guild but it's a home. A place where people who have had troubles like you can come and be a part of a family. You would like that right?"
Natsu stared at the elderly man and then looked away as he thought about what he had said. It had been so long since he felt that he was a part of a family and he knew he longed for it. Natsu stood up and smiled. "I would. I'd like to be a part of Fairy Tail."
"So this is Fairy Tail..." Natsu stood in front of the large pagoda-like building. It had golden carvings of winged feminine creatures and laid in the middle of it in golden letters: Fairy Tail. "It's a pretty big building!" He turned to Makarov and smiled excitedly. "Are there all kinds of powerful wizards inside?!"
"Indeed. Some as powerful as the beasts in the wild that you have faced and I'm sure that you will make all kinds of friends." Makarov smiled at the child. "So shall we go in?" He gestured as he waved his hand forward.
Natsu shook his head and body, making the red sweater and beige shorts he was given sway in the summer wind before he grabbed his scarf and looked into Makarov's eyes with his own determined ones. "Yeah! Let's go in!"
And soon enough, Makarov introduced the young child to the entirety of the Fairy Tail guild which turned out to be fairly easy. Despite being raised in the wild, Natsu seemed to be very friendly and interacted with most of the members. The adults in the guild introduced the many commodities of the guild as well as those that come with being a Wizard and it seemed that Natsu was very attentive, taking in all that they had said.
'It seems like he'll settle right in. That's good.' Makarov smiled as he watched the guild's cheery antics. Everyone seemed to laugh, drink and enjoy themselves which made Makarov smile even more as he saw Natsu doing the same. 'It would seem like Fairy Tail has a new member to the family. Maybe it won't be so bad having a Dragon Slayer...'
"Hey, watch yourself, newcomer! You almost drop your drink onto me!" A young boy with hair as black as midnight and wearing nothing but his gray boxers exclaimed at Natsu.
Natsu stood back and snorted. "What am I going to spill it on? You're in nothing but your underwear so you'll be fine."
The raven-haired boy looked down and began looking around in his proximity to see if he could find the rest of his clothing, making Natsu begin to chuckle. The raven-haired boy furrowed his brow in anger as he glared at the young Dragon Slayer. "Just what the hell is so funny?!"
"Just watching you be a shy stripper is all. How did you forget your clothes or are you one of those nude people I've heard about?"
The raven-haired boy blushed in anger as he gritted his teeth. "Oh yeah? Well, at least I learned Magic from someone who is real!"
Natsu stopped laughing and furrowed his brow at the young boy. "I did learn my Magic from someone real! I learned it from a Dragon! At least I didn't learn to strip from them!"
'Oh no...' Makarov frowned as he and the other guild members watch the argument.
"Ha! Yeah right! I'm supposed to believe you learn magic from a super-sized lizard. Like I'd believe that story!"
Natsu opened his legs and raised his fists. "I'll just have to show you then, Stripper!"
"The name's Gray Fullbuster!" He smirked cockily as he placed his closed fist onto his hand, icy misy began to release from within them. "And I'd like to see you try!" Gray then pulled his hands back as more mist released from his hands before thrusting them forward. "ICE-MAKE: LANCE!" Long curved lances made of ice began flying towards Natsu but just before they could make contact, Natsu jumped into the air and landed on the roof. As he caught himself, he covered the balls of his feet with flames and jumped down with his right foot covered in the bluish-yellow flames.
"HEAVEN FIRE DRAGON'S CHARRING TALON!" With much force and power, Natsu struck Gray on his head with his foot and caused an explosion, engulfing much of the guildhall with the remaining flames and dust. As the remnants of the explosion began to clear, everyone saw Natsu standing proudly while Gray stumbled to get up, seeming dazed by the attack.
"Holy crap, this kid seems to be pretty strong..." A brunette man spoke as the smoke pipe fell out from his mouth. "He seems so well-versed in fighting."
"I know right?" A man with blue hair leaned into the brunette man's shoulder while looking shocked. And the other adults looked stunned as well, it wasn't every day you see a young child fight so expertly and for the child to use ancient Magic.
Natsu smirked as he crossed his arms. "Have you had enough, Gray? Or will I have to keep showing you the Magic my mom taught me?"
Gray grumbled as he stumbled to stand, shaking and rubbing his head as he looked at Natsu. "That was a lucky hit, I'll give you that..." He glared as he took the same stance as before slamming his hands onto the floor. "ICE-MAKE: FLOOR!" Suddenly, the whole floor of Fairy Tail was covered in ice and causing Natsu and whoever was standing on the floor to slip and fall onto their backside. Gray chuckled as he watched Natsu struggle to stand and clasped his hands together. "You managed to dodge my last attack so see if you can stop this one! ICE-MAKE:..." He held his hands up and as Natsu looked up, a giant spiked hammer formed above from where he lay. "ICE HAMMER!"
As the hammer came flying down onto Natsu, he looked stunned but then began puffing his cheeks. "HEAVEN FIRE DRAGON'S ROAR!" As he yelled, a torrent of bluish-yellow flames spew from out of Natsu's mouth and flew upwards towards the ice hammer. As the flames came to contact with the hammer, the ice hammer began to melt and eventually evaporate from the intense heat.
"No way! How did you-?" As Gray looked back at Natsu, he saw that the young Dragon Slayer had suddenly leaped toward him. 'He's quick to set up his next move!' Before Gray could ready himself, Natsu ran towards him with his fist starting to become alit with flames.
"HEAVEN FIRE DRAGON'S BLESSED FIST!" As the flame encased began thrusting towards him, Gray attempted to raise his fist to block it and closed his eyes. When he felt no impact, he slowly opened his eyes to see a redheaded girl wearing a white blouse and skirt with a light gray chest plate and a sword in its dark green sheath on her side. She stood there, glaring at Natsu while clenching his fist but stopped and let go of his hand as Natsu turned off his fire. Natsu backed up and looked at the redhead sternly. "What? Do you expect me to apologize or something?"
The redhead girl crossed her arms as she stood between Natsu and Gray. "Yes, I do. And you best make it quick."
Natsu snorted as he smirked, crossing his arms as he stood up. "I doubt that he'll apologize for what he said so why should I? I'm not going to follow the orders of some girl that I just met."
"You'll do it because it's the adult thing to do and..." The redheaded girl glared at Natsu as she placed a hand on her sword. "You will do it because you won't get hurt. So you better listen to me, boy."
"Ha! As I said, I'm not gonna follow orders from someone I just met!" Natsu lit his right hand with his bluish-yellow flames as he began running towards the girl. "And I have a name! It's Natsu Dragneel! HEAVEN FIRE DRAGON'S BLESSED FIST!" Natsu yelled as he thrust his flame-covered fist toward the young girl. The young girl expertly blocked the attack by unsheathing her sword and stopping the fist from touching her, but as she guarded, she was sent flying a good distance back from the force of the attack.
The girl stood up and smirked as she gripped her sword. "Seems you are strong. I see how Gray had such trouble with you. However!" The girl tilted her blade across her face as she bent herself down. "This will be over soon. Come at me, Natsu Dragneel!"
The young dragon slayer smirked as he lit his right hand ablaze, running towards the redhead. "You asked for it!" Natsu jumped into the air and descended onto the girl with swiped towards the girl with his flame hand. "HEAVEN FIRE DRAGON'S CELESTIAL SLASH!" As Natsu slashed her hand, the young girl dodged his attack. Just before he could stabilize himself, the redhead slammed the blunt of his sword onto Natsu's neck, causing the pinkette to stumble a bit before laying on the ground as he fell unconscious.
"Now, that is over, Gray!" The redhead turned to face the young raven-haired boy sternly. "When Natsu wakes up, you will apologize. Understood?"
"U-UNDERSTOOD, MA'AM!" The young boy saluted as he stuttered.
A young brunette in a bright yellow dress stepped forward as she looked concerned. "Erza, are you alright?"
The redhead who was now identified tilted her head as she looked at the young brunette. "I feel fine, Cana. Why do you ask?"
Cana then pointed a finger at Erza's right arm. "I'd take a look at that."
As Erza looked at her arm, her eyes widened as she realized that her blouse had been cut and there was a slight burn mark on her arm. 'When did this? He managed to get me after all!' Erza then turned her head to the unconscious pinkette that lay on the group. 'You are an interesting one, Natsu Dragneel.'
Natsu's eyes slowly opened as he was beginning to wake up. He groaned as he sat up and rubbed the back of his neck.
"Finally awake huh?" Natsu turned his head to face Erza.
Natsu's eyes widened as he saw the redhead and pointed. "You're that girl from before!" He then lowered his hand as he saw bandages on her arm, tilting his head as he grew confused. "What happened to your arm?"
"It would seem that you managed to scrape me during our little tussle." Erza held out her arm and rubbed her arm before looking back at the young dragonslayer. "It would appear you are strong, only the older wizards in the guild have managed to leave bruises."
Natsu smirked as he crossed his arms. "I told you that I'm not weak. My mom and granddad didn't train me to be a pushover!"
"Just because you're strong doesn't mean that you can start fights whenever you please." Erza stepped forward as she stared into Natsu's olive orbs sternly. "You can't fight those who are considered your family! Fairy Tail is our home and everyone within it is family so I will not tolerate anyone harming it or the people. Understand?!"
Natsu flinched as he stood back, nodding his head. "OK, OK. I got it." He then turned his head as he looked away with a scowl. "Geez, you're really scary..."
Erza's eyes widened before she looked away bitterly. 'Why should I care what a newcomer thinks? So what if I'm scary? It's not the first time someone told me that and it probably won't be the last.' As that last thought lingered in her mind, even though she didn't show it, Erza grew a little saddened by it. "Whatever..." She huffed out in agitation as she crossed her arms.
Natsu looked back at the redhead with a raised eyebrow. He could hear the upset tone in her voice and didn't understand why she suddenly felt that way. Natsu rubbed the back of his head and cleared his throat before looking at the redhead. "Just because I say you're scary doesn't automatically mean that you're a bad person. I mean I was raised by two dragons after all in the wild! So, I've seen scarier monsters than you can imagine." Natsu chuckled before softening his face. "To me, being scary means that you're strong and imposing. It proves that you're definitively one of the strongest here so I won't have to worry about protecting you all the time."
Erza perked up as she turned her face to see Natsu's warm smile. A light tint of pink dusted her cheek as she looked at Natsu before looking away. "And why would I need to be protected if I'm so strong? Aren't you intimidated by me?"
"Well, in a way, yeah," Natsu answered honestly, making Erza raise an eyebrow. "Which is why I want to get stronger so I can beat you and stand with you. I feel the same way with my mom Helia and my grandfather Igneel. They're crazy strong! Strong enough to destroy mountains! So in order to be with them, I need to train. I need to get stronger so I can protect them, they've been protecting me my whole life so I want to be strong enough so they don't have to worry about me all the time. And I get that same feeling with being here too. Especially with you."
Erza frowned as she crossed her arms. "Why? Because you see me as some kind of sparring partner?" She spoke dryly.
"No, something more than that." Natsu closed his eyes and began to ponder on his next statement. "Even though you're strong, I feel like I have to protect you. I think it's because I like you." Erza blushed as she heard that statement, quickly looking away from Natsu's face.
"Y-You like me?!" The young girl managed to keep her voice calm as she slightly stuttered.
"Yeah! It's not because you're really strong, you are a beautiful girl and it seems like you have a kind spirit too! You watched over me as I recovered and didn't beat me senselessly as I woke up, even though I managed to burn you slightly. So, even though you are scary on the outside, I can't help but like the person you really are!"
Erza's smile grew as the words the young boy had told her stuck with her. Even though she was considered family to everyone in Fairy Tail, no one had ever gone out of their way to compliment the young girl except Makarov. It was nice for someone to appreciate the beauty that the young redhead had and it would be nice to have this happen more often. Erza cleared her throat and looked back at Natsu. "And let's say you do surpass me, what will you do then? Will you be satisfied with that?"
"I don't think so. I'll have to surpass Master Makarov and then whoever ever stronger than him. If I wanna protect you guys, I have to get stronger after all."
Erza smiled softly and stepped closer to Natsu. "Then, you will need to train because there will always be someone stronger than you. So, in order to solve that problem, you will need someone to help you train. From this day forward, you and I will be a team. I will help you to become stronger because it would appear that I like you as well."
Natsu smiled as he pumped his fist into the air. "Alright! When do we start training...? What's your name by the way?"
Erza smiled as she offered her hand up for a handshake. "It's Erza. Erza Scarlet."
Natsu smiled back as he shook her hand. "Erza I'll remember that. I'm glad that such a pretty girl is the first friend that I made here." Natsu chuckled as he smiled widely, making Erza blush a bit but she smiled as well.
From out of the guild infirmary, Makarov smiled and walked away, chuckling as he made his way into his office. 'It would appear that I won't have to worry about Natsu after all and it would appear that he's going to break away the hardness Erza has on her heart. It'll seem like Fairy Tail has a new couple forming, let's see how it goes~.'
