The Coming of Monsters: Scott's Sacrifice
"What can we do?" Scott asked Lucifer.
CLANK! CLANK! CLANK! The chains echoed in the distance causing a shiver to run down the spines of Cora and Scott.
"You think incorrectly blood of the first ones," Lucifer rumbled. "The cardinal sins are impulses of free will. It is the excess of all things that propagate the rise of the darkness. The cardinal sins are named such because they are easiest ways to fall to darkness. Excess is the greatest seed of darkness."
"How do we stop the darkness then?" Cora asked as she held close to her Scott.
"Light, be the light in the darkness," Lucifer said.
"That's it?" Scott asked incredulously.
"It may sound easy blood of the first one," Lucifer said, "But it is the hardest thing you can do I assure you child. Light shines brightest in the darkness."
"Okay, I have another question," Scott said. "What is a bloodkin and how is it different from blood of something?"
"True direct descendents who bear the potential and source blood of origin in their veins are the blood of whatever being they came from," Lucifer answered with a rumbling laugh. "Bloodkin are direct inheritors of their ancestors."
"Sounds similar," Cora said.
"Indeed they are similar but not the same," Lucifer said. "Bloodkin are born with their inheritance waiting to be activated. You Bloodkin of Leviathan were born as a werewolf that possesses the potential to change into the form of actual wolves like your ancestor. One day you will unlock the power blood inheritance of Leviathan and become a Cambion. Blood of the first ones you have the potential of returning to the source and becoming one of the first ones yourself and by your bond, your wife too shall become such herself should you succeed."
"Uh, we're not married," Scott said tentatively as he looked at Cora but it was clear that he liked the idea.
"Mortals," Lucifer snorted. "Your souls are bonded together in perfect unity, what else could it possibly be called if not a true marriage?"
"Don't we have to become engaged first?" Cora asked shyly which was uncharacteristic of her.
"Unions of the past were meant to bind the souls of two people in companionship," Lucifer said. "The body is simply a tool used to interact with the material."
"So by your understanding, Cora and I are husband and wife?" Scott asked carefully not quite sure what to make of the information he was getting from the imprisoned Archangel.
"Indeed you are blood of the first ones," Lucifer affirmed. "but fret not young ones, what I said is only in the most profound sense. As mortals, then no you are not married to one another."
"I'm not complaining," Cora said as she looked at Scott. "You better not be complaining dimples."
"I'm not, I'm just surprised," Scott said.
"You are mine dimples deal with it," Cora smiled as she interlaced her fingers with Scott's.
Scott laughed softly enjoying the warmth of her hand.
CLANK! CLANK! CLANK!
"Blood of the first ones," Lucifer said knocking couple out of their happy bubble. "I have one thing that might help you fight the darkness."
"Please tell us," Scott said politely.
"Your wife was born a werewolf," Lucifer said. "You were bitten and became a true alpha. You can give your wife your entire werewolf spark and turn her into a true alpha by proxy."
"Does this mean that he would no longer be a werewolf altogether?" Cora asked.
"Yes, it would mean that," Lucifer nodded.
"Why must he give up what he earned himself?" Cora asked combatively. "that's not right, I wont ask him to do that."
"He was born as a vampire descended directly from the first vampire," Lucifer said. "And you were born a werewolf descended from the oldest and purest living family of werewolves meaning you bear the true curse of moon more than any other of your kind. Being a werewolf gives you many abilities but in the end it's still curse. He embodies the blessing of the gods and you their curse. If he embodies a curse and blessing they just cancel each other but you still bear the curse. If you bear the curse and he bears the blessing, you can use his blessing to cancel the coercion of the curse. He will have no side effects as he will be dampening coercion of the curse indirectly instead of direct as he is doing now."
"What do I need to do?" Scott asked without hesitation.
"Have you ever felt deep within yourself the core of your power?" Lucifer asked.
"Yeah, I have," Scott nodded. "Every time I transform into a werewolf I tap into it."
"How do you feel from your werewolf spark when you take away someone's pain?" Lucifer asked looking at Scott and Cora.
"Uh, when I draw out the pain of a person I use my werewolf spark as the fuel," Scott said slowly. "But that's not all, I draw on the their pain through the moisture in their body and into myself where my blood acts as the conduit for the pain to pass through towards the werewolf spark where it is defused and purified before being returned to the person who was in pain."
"Haha, you are half right," Lucifer laughed but not in ridicule but respect. "No wonder you have managed not to kill anyone. You have some understanding of your own nature that many never notice. Regardless, what you have failed to realise is that when you induce the feeling of relief is in fact because you have grafted a portion of your werewolf spark causing the injured person's pain to not only dampen but also absorb their pain helping the person's body somewhat in repairing itself if possible. Pain relief can be the difference between life and death in extreme cases. The key to transferring your werewolf power to your wife is a process that involves the both of you. Do exactly what you always do when you absorb someone's pain and don't stop even when you begin to tap into the central core of your spark."
"That sounds easy," Cora said cautiously.
"His part to play is relatively simple," Lucifer looked at Cora who held Scott's arm rather tightly. "Your part however is much harder. You must take in his werewolf spark into yourself and fuse it with your own."
"How do I do that?" Cora asked curiously.
"There are two ways, one is slow but less frowned upon and the other is quite fast and extremely frowned upon by immortals," Lucifer said. "Though I suspect it won't be a problem for you both."
"Oh, can you tell us them?" Cora said. "The two methods I mean."
CLANK! CLANK! CLANK!
"The first method is pinpoint each and every graft of his spark and infused it into yourself slowly," Lucifer said with a coy smile as he looked at the couple making them feel uneasy and slightly flustered. "The second method is for him to place his hand on your heart soul and make his vow."
"That's not as dirty as I would have thought," Cora blushed. "I agree if he does. How do I absorb his werewolf spark then?"
"All you need to do is place your hand at the same time he does and make your vow as he makes his own," Lucifer said. "You than say a few words indicating that you agree to his vow and gift and you present your own offer to him."
"How does it even work?" Scott asked confused. "What you said doesn't make much sense."
"All vow made through the heart soul are sacred and not easily made not to mention that they are very intimate," Lucifer rumbled deeply causing space and time to freeze for a moment making Scott and Cora take a step back in terror. "And once you make this vow you will both be bound to each other forever. Once you do, you might as well consider yourselves to be well and truly married to each other. In short, you will be stuck with each other forever. You will know where the direction and emotions of each other always. This is why it's frowned upon unless you are bonded beforehand."
"Didn't you say that we were bonded before?" Scott asked cautiously.
CLANK! CLANK! CLANK! The massive chains slowly swayed in the darkness of space.
"Yes, you are bonded, but it's not an unbreakable bond such the one you will forge," Lucifer said, "Enough of these pointless questions. Decide which path you want to take to transfer your werewolf spark."
"I will be at your side whatever you decide Cora," Scott said. "I want to give you my spark."
"I'm willing to be stuck with you forever if you are sure about this," Cora interlaced her hand with his.
"What do we have to do?" Scott looked at Lucifer.
"Place your hand on her chest and recite," Lucifer instructed. "I, your name, give to you my werewolf and true alpha spark willingly as part of my promise of eternal honour and loyalty to you first and foremost. Let this vow bind our souls."
"What do I do?" Cora asked.
"Place your hand on his chest and recite," Lucifer instructed. "I, your name, accept your pledge of honour and loyalty. I gift to, say what you are willing to gift him with and I too pledge myself to the promise of eternal honour and loyalty to you first and foremost, let this vow bind our souls. You blood of the first ones must say I accept you pledge of honour and loyalty and it will be complete."
"Are you ready Cora?" Scott looked at Cora.
"Dimples, do you have to ask?" Cora giggled.
Scott nodded and placed his hand on left hand side of her chest while she placed her hand on his, "I, Scott Hesperos Nyxos, give to you my, love, devotion, body and my werewolf and true alpha spark willingly as part of my promise of eternal honour and loyalty to you Cora hale first and foremost. Let this vow bind our souls"
"I Cora Hale, accept your pledge of eternal honour and loyalty. I give you my body, love and devotion as a promise of eternal honour and loyalty to you first and foremost. Let this vow bind our souls." She said as tear streamed from her eyes.
"I accept your pledge of eternal honour and loyalty," Scott said feeling rather emotional as well when he looked at Cora
"And it is done," Lucifer said with a smile which caused space to twist.
"That's all we had to do?" Cora asked as she looked at her man.
"Yes, it is all," Lucifer said. "Now you best be returning back to your bodies young ones and pull the nephilim but the ears. You can feed only from the bloodkin of Leviathan once the transfer is complete."
As soon as Lucifer said so, the couple felt their spiritual bodies float away from the terrifying being chained to innumerable black holes.
Line Break
Derek was about to speak when the skins of both Cora and Scott turned ashy grey and with black veins spread all over the parts of the bodies that were visible making them look like desiccating corpses. He couldn't help himself from getting pale at the sight. Before he could do anything, their bodies returned to normal but there was a feint golden hue all over them for a seconds then it vanished like it was never there.
"What just happened?" Stiles looked at his brother with worry. There was none of the playfulness that he had displayed before.
"I don't know," Derek shook his head as he touched Cora's forehead to read her temperature. "She seems fine now. But something is different. She smells different from before."
"I smell it too," Isaac said as he looked at Scott. "Scott smells different as well."
"Scott, brother you are going to kill us one day," Stiles shook his head exasperatedly.
With a thunderous raw Cora woke up at the same time as Scott, but her eyes were a dreadful alpha red full of power. Scott besides her woke with the pure and brilliant midnight blue eyes. Grey shadows appeared over his eyes as he bared his fangs in a loud blood curdling hiss as he lunged at Cora so fast that no one could even comprehend his movements until his fangs pierced her neck and drank from her.
Cora's arms snaked around Scott as he drank from her. She bared her fangs and bit his shoulder almost instinctively. She could feel his euphoria as he drank her blood and I made her happy as she too felt his blood touch her lips. Scott stopped drinking very quickly and moved slowly away with a bashful smile.
Blood dripped from Cora's lips making her looking extremely beautiful as she looked at Scott with a smile, "It worked," she whispered.
Blood also dripped from Scott's lips marking his otherwise ridiculously handsome face and making him all the more seductive, more so in that moments than the deviously handsomeness of Stiles, "I know," He whispered.
Derek snapped out of his stupor and pounced at Scott, "What did you do?" He picked up Scott by the hem of his clothes.
"Release him Der," Cora hissed. "He did nothing wrong."
"He did nothing wrong?" Derek looked his sister in disbelief. "He drank your blood. How is that nothing wrong?"
"I know he drank my blood Der," Cora said with a smile. "I wanted him to."
"That's impossible, why would you want that?" Derek refused to believe that.
"A blessing to counter the curse," Cora said.
"What are you talking about?" Braeden asked walking closer to Cora as she shot Derek a look for him to release Scott. "For goodness sakes Derek, Scott is the only goody-goody here. You have a greater chance of hurting Cora than he does and you know it. Cora, what's this blessing to counter the curse?"
"Being a werewolf is a curse from the gods while being a vampire was their gift," Cora said. "By biting and feeding from me his venom neutralises the effects of the curse. But unfortunately it only works for me. An alpha cannot become a vampire."
"But you're not an Alpha," Derek looked at his sister with confusion.
"I am an alpha Der," Cora's eyes flashed and shone red, but this time they could see. "Dimples gave me his werewolf and true alpha spark."
"If he gave you his werewolf and true alpha spark, does this mean that—" Stiles was interrupted.
"—He is no longer a werewolf now," Cora nodded. "He is a pure blooded vampire."
"Fine, I'll forgive him since he obviously cares about you," Derek let go of Scott who had turned to look at Isaac.
"When did you get back?" Scott asked his former foster brother.
"Not long, a few hours," Isaac rubbed the back of his neck once more.
"I see, welcome back," Scott nodded after a moment as he walked over to where Cora was and sat next to her. "I hope you feel better now."
"I'm getting there I guess," Isaac continued to rub his neck anxiously. "It's better than before, I'll get there one day."
"What do you want to tell me?" Scott looked at Isaac questioningly.
"I was bitten," Isaac said.
"Bitten by who?" Scott asked.
"By a coven of vampires," Isaac flashed his eyes revealing that one was a duller shade of midnight blue than Scott's while the other was amber yellow as before. "They followed me here looking for you."
"Since I entered this supernatural world, I've never had a moment of peace," Scott laughed with amusement as he looked into Cora's eyes. "No use crying about it. We will face it as we have before."
The door of the loft burst open as Liam carried a bloodied Mason.
