Hi, I know it's been like an eternity since I last updating this fic. I lost motivation and muse for the story. But I have a few one shot ideas rolling around in my head that work for this story. Super sorry for the wait and the fairly short/semi-rushed chapter; I'm just getting back into writing these oneshots. Note, I know nothing about going to basic or anything about the military please if anything is wrong or if anyone has any details that would make upcoming military scenes more realistic please message me!

This was a prompt from: rowingioannina-NOI (sorry for the wait..) here you go, if you're still reading this.. :)

Emma Age: 18

Regina is frantically pacing the hallways of her home. She is trying to find the best time and way to let Emma know that she is in a committed relationship. Not only a relationship, but a relationship with her friend and trainer Aiden Smith.

Regina didn't plan on dating the handsome man, but he was persistent and sweet, and he was shirtless. Regina shook her head and thought about the consequences of her both telling and waiting to tell Emma.

On the one hand if she tells Emma and it goes great then perfect; but if it doesn't and Emma doesn't accept it then what does she do? Should she break up with Aiden? Should she ignore her daughters wishes and thoughts?

Then on the other hand if she doesn't tell Emma and she happens to find out Emma's going to be crushed that her mother didn't tell her. Also Aiden wants to come to see Emma and Lily off when they fly out to Texas to start basic.

Regina jumps when she hears the front door slam closed. "Mom?"

Regina gulps and answers, "Upstairs sweetheart."

Emma comes bounding up the stairs louder than usual. Wanting to know what all the ruckus was about Regina meets Emma at the top of the stairs to see Emma carrying a large duffle bag than was thumping on the stairs.

Regina lifts a brow in question and Emma throws the bag, "The stuff I need to pack and weed out before basic. Also all my stuff from the gym locker at school. This was my last training session with Aiden."

Regina nods, "Would you like some help?"

Emma shakes her head, "Nah, I got it. Thanks though. Soo.. what's so important that you actually left work early to beat me home?"

Regina gapes in mock hurt, "Is seeing my only child not good enough."

Emma chuckles, "Mom, it's budget season I normally can barely get you to sit down without your heels, long enough for your shoe imprints to leave your foot. So really what's up?"

Regina swallows and clears her throat, "I umm… I know over the years it's just been you and I… and I love it, I love how close we are and how much you have grown into a wonderful, strong, compassionate, strong willed woman… I umm I know this might be a shock, especially considering who this is and what's going on but I feel you should know, especially before you leave. And I'm rambling. And I don't know how to say this…"

Emma decides to cut her mom off, "Mom honestly, it's ok. I know."

Regina shook her head, "No, this is something different. I haven't told you yet because I wanted to be sure, and I think I am.."

Emma then steps closer to Regina and takes her hand, "Mom, I know. Aiden told me months ago. He asked me for permission to ask you out. Seems he asked you quite a few times since it was weeks after when he finally was stressing over taking you out."

Regina was stunned silent.

Emma continued, "Mom seriously. It's ok. Aiden is cool and hot, I totally dig and agree with your choice."

Regina pulled Emma into a hug, "I love you"

Emma smiled, "I love you too. And Aiden is good for you. I like him. Give him the go ahead to come with us when we go to the airport."

Regina kissed Emma on the forehead and thanked her again for accepting this relationship.

Regina, Emma, Aiden, Lily, and Mal were all standing at the boarding gate waiting for Emma and Lily's flight number to be called.

Emma sat next to her mom and held her hand while she tried to calm her mom, and keep her mind from what was going on.

Sooner than expected the flight was called. Regina couldn't contain it anymore and when Emma stood to grab her bags Regina flung her arms around her neck and sobbed. Emma immediately dropped the bags and embraced her mom, "It's gonna be ok mom. It's 10 weeks. Then I'll be home again. I'll call the first chance I get. Promise."

Regina felt a hand on her back and reluctantly let go of Emma. Emma kissed her mom on the cheek and wiped her tears, just as Regina had done when Emma was a child.

Aiden then embraced Emma in a tight hug, "I'll look after her. No matter what."

Emma sighed and thanked Aiden, "Treat her right."

Aiden nodded, "Of course. You be good kid."

The small group exchanged hugs and tears and then they couldn't delay anymore. Emma and Lily grabbed their bags and took the others hand. Emma and Lily walked to the gate hand in hand and gave the attendant their tickets.

Before they completely lost sight of their family Emma and Lily waved one last time throwing hearts and kisses towards them. The duo then boarded the plane, already counting down the days until they could see their families again.

10 weeks.

They needed to wait 10 weeks.
