A New Day.

My body screams
it's agony,
I long to shout,
but I wont
I know my time on the cross
will soon reach its end.
I feel the sun
burning my skin,
a new day.
I open my eyes
and look down at the people
who are gathered at my feet.
Tears are pouring
down their sun burnt cheeks
their faces masks of sorrow.
I long to hold them,
to tell them to cry no more,
but for now that's impossible.
I feel my body start to die,
the pain fades away.
And as my spirit
leaves it's dying shell
I offer what little
comfort I can give,
I die with a smile.
I know we will soon
see each other again,
and in my heart I rejoice,
and thank the Lord.
