Howdy ya do fellow fanfiction readers and writers alike. I'm just here to inform that the entirety of this fanfiction will be reviewed and rewritten to better fit a more - mature - sense in writing. I mean nothing lewd or graphic by that statement, more like cutting out the excessive word count and dull dialogue or settings in this story. You'll know what I mean if you come across chapters that haven't been rewritten yet. So far to my knowledge, this was the FIRST Luffy x Female Luffy fan story ever created, along with a few extra genderbent characters along the way. Honestly, I should've kept it to just a female counterpart of Luffy, but old habits die hard I guess. I'll make it work. Still, lets see how far I'll go into remaking this.
Enjoy the Chapter!

Darkness. An eternal gloom of shadows representing the figures of fallen foes and allies - surrounding him on all sides. Despite these motionless and idle figures, a desolate disturbance of dread was all that remained - empty, and alone.
How long has it been since he was forced to isolate and confine himself within the grasping shackles of purgatory? Days perhaps, maybe even weeks, hell it could even be years. Time works different here. For a mere second within this realm unknowingly compared to a decade of seclusion. An endless silence desecrated him. Its soundless nature, deafening to the joys and wonders of the real world. The free world. This normality the open sea had offered became foreign now. As he could barely muster a faint resemblance to the life he once had. So really, how long?
Monkey D. Luffy did not know. He could not know. Such efforts to rediscover his passion died long ago. Left to rot in a repetitive cycle of torment. Tides of negative emotions reigned down on him, crushing his spirits beyond anything he's ever endured. Despite the many disturbances that depleted his sense of confidence and determination, only one stood out more than the others...
...Regret...
Regret is what tortured him, and it's regret that continued to shatter his progression. This world is cruel - unforgiving, and defiant to dreams the moment you've been birthed. His personality defied it's very nature from the very beginning. Yet still, like all others he played right into its manipulative arms of death. The price for him was everything. The experience, the ambition, the journey, the friendship... the love. Everything, was gone.
His fingers twitched, and his ears suddenly perked onto the faint sound of a flowing current as the distant chirping of seagulls soared through the sky. He did not see it, but he could feel its presence. The sea was near, and it was once more calling for his return. Though no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't move. This place didn't want to let him go, it refused to. This summoning for his presence presented no effect for mobility as he could do nothing but lay dormant to this realms unwavering grasp. The sound of the sea began to grow faint. With no effort to make an escape, he remained idle... but, destiny has a funny way of fixing things.
"Luffy!"
He could hear them. Their voices surrounding him through thick and thin. Such words echoed endlessly within this empty vessel of hell. His ears twitched at the repeated cries - noticing an odd sense of desperation behind them. Though the words were incomprehensible, he knew the who they belonged to.
"Yo... hu.. ...s!"
Closing his tired and heavy eyes, he tried to block out these jumbled cries. Yet repeatedly, they persisted to nudge him ahead. Almost as if it were telling him that he had to let go. But, why? He didn't want to let go. This hollow he found himself in held no affiliation to his ambition, but he feared to leave its quiet embrace behind. This was perhaps the last place he had mental control over. A place where he could continue remembering the faces of all his friends. Fearing that unknown ahead would force him to eventually forget. The journeys they had, the struggles that came with it, the bonds forged through separate lives united for a sole driven purpose. Luffy did not want leave, but that wasn't his decision to make.
Instantly, his vision grew white. Sound was the first sense he was able to pick up. The sounds of laughter along with the joyful rhythm of music danced in his ears. Another moment passed, and finally his eyes managed to slowly flicker open. A beautiful shade of crimson greeted his vision. His cheeks nuzzled against its color. Realizing he woke up with his face planted against the carpet in the midst of a ballroom, Luffy slowly rose to his feet. His Straw Hat dangled freely behind his back. The floor slowly rocked back and fourth, signifying that he was actually on a ship. Where exactly? Who knows. Instead, he was more surprised by the fact that no one seemed to recognize him. Monkey D Luffy, a man rising through the ranks of the Great Pirate Era. First to be proclaimed the fifth emperor of the sea. A bounty rivaling and surpassing his fellow emperors after defeating each one in combat. Hell, he's surprised no ones recognized him by his biggest accomplishment of them all.
Pacing around the room, Luffy couldn't help but softly smile at this. It's been so long since his presence wasn't singled out by an entire group of civilians when treading on equal grounds as them. His gaze fell to his clothing. Surprisingly, he still wore the same clothing he had been using just before coming here. His long sleeved red shirt with blue shorts and a yellow sash across his abdomen. It's weird how ripped and torn like he remembered them to be. Shifting his gaze, his pupils fell upon a mountainous stack of food. To his complete disbelief, he found himself lacking an appetite. He wasn't hungry. His search for answers had drowned his appetite before it grew on him.
A woman with recognizable orange hair caught his attention, and for a brief moment he could've sworn it was Nami. He almost choked at the sight. If it weren't for her short hair, Luffy would've been absolutely positive it was her. Pushing past his grief, he still struggled to be rid of the nagging resemblance in the back of his thoughts. He had to check. He just had be sure. Just as he was about to reach the woman, a man barged into the room cutting off all commotion as eyes shifted in curiosity at the loud noise. The newcomers face was full of distraught.
"P-Pirates!" Wheezing softly between his lips, the man struggled to catch his breath.
"Sir, are you okay? What's wrong?"
Sucking in his breath, he was finally able to shout loud enough for all to hear. "Pirates! They're comi-"
An explosion rang in their ears. The ship began to rumble as an onslaught of cannon fire shot through the wooden structure of the ship. The impact caused most of the guests to tumble and fall trying to maintain balance.
Running to the window, Luffy gazed to the sea where pirates of another ship began boarding the one he occupied. Their intent was obviously clear. Furthermore, shock and confusion had risen once his eyes landed on a forgotten flag he once encountered when sailing out to sea in search of One Piece. The flag of Iron Mace Alvida.
"Alvida? Why is she in the New World of all places?"
As panic reigned across the ship, Luffy chose to hide himself in the shadows that presented lingered in the corners of each room. Choosing to observe everything play out, he witnessed the last of Alvidas men chase the guests out of the ballroom. Stepping out of his hiding spot, he began creeping around the halls searching for an escape. Traversing lightly, the approaching sound of foot steps thumped in his ears. Acting quickly, he slid into an empty room - closing it until he was barely able to see through the crack of the door frame.
A young boy approached, one with pink hair and a body so fragile you could practically bend him anywhere. Taking a closer look - suddenly, he realized... this was Coby. And not the one he remembered growing up along with. Seeing Coby revert back to his fragile and cowardly self set off an alarm. Something wasn't right. It hadn't been ever since he woke up. No one seemed to know who he was, and no gave him even a second glance.
Deciding then and there, he tailed softly behind Coby. If his suspicions were correct, then everything that had happen was true. But for now, he wants to ensure the safety of one of his dear friends. Muttering softly, he followed at a reasonable distance.
"I really don't like where this is going."
Taking the time to examine Coby, he noticed the barrel he currently rolled in front of him held a distinguishable resemblance. Though it looked like a normal barrel, he knew better that whatever was inside it was no ordinary cargo. That is, if there even is something or someone in there in the first place.
"Odd, I don't recall starting my journey beginning like this. But... if I'm here, then who's inside?"
The noticeable presence of three approaching pirates had cut him out of his thoughts. Though they weren't technically heading towards him, he decided to hold back a bit to allow additional space to eavesdrop. Peaking in the corner of his eye, he watched this encounter closely.
"Coby, there you are!" The Pirate expressed fake concern. "We were looking all over for you. Why are you sneaking around all of a sudden... and what's with the barrel?" His eyes grew more menacing. "You weren't thinking on taking this all for yourself were you?"
Coby gulped. He could feel his feet shake beneath him. "No, this isn't what you think. I'd never try to hide anything from you guys."
Their eyes remained stern as they glared upon the small boy. The silence further irked Coby to back away due to his own discouraged self confidence. Suddenly, the man smiled and immediately burst out laughing. "Good, good. It would be bad for you if you were. Anyways... " Grabbing the barrel, he snatched its wooden figure from him. "All of this searching got me thirsty." His two comrades chuckled in agreement. .
"W-Wait, but won't Alvida get mad if she figured out we took a barrel without her permission." .
"Don't worry." Cracking his knuckles, the sound was enough to intimidate the boy "She won't know if you don't open your mouth, are we clear?"
Nodding in fear, Coby backed away as he allowed the pirates to do as they pleased.
"Alright, imma bust this thing open. Stand back."
Raising his fist, he prepared to smash the barrel open with brute force. What they didn't know, was that a certain Straw Hat Captain was more than intrigued to see what would happen. There shouldn't be anyone in there, cause Luffy was here - watching them... right? As the man brought down his fist, someone popped out of the barrel punching the pirate in the face knocking him out.
"Aaah! That was a great nap!"
Her voice was filled with excitement and joy, and though it was weird, Luffy found it to be one of the most beautiful and delicate sounds he's ever heard. Blinking a few times, he tried to take in the appearance of the woman who made her grand appearance... that is until a piece of stray wood smashed against his face.
The two Alvida Pirates could not comprehend what just happened within the span of seconds. "What the hell!"
Finishing her stretch, the girl noticed the unconscious individual on the floor next to her. "You know, your friend really shouldn't be sleeping here."
Simultaneously, the two yelled. "Who the hell do you think was responsible for that!" Growling in anger, they took out their swords. "Grr, we'll show you bitch."
For but a moments, her smile had faded into one of seriousness. "I wouldn't do that if I were you."
Choosing to ignore her warning, they decided to attack only to end up with broken swords and bumps on their heads as they too were knocked unconscious.
Coby stood by watching in disbelief. Thiis girl, she managed to take down three of Alvidas pirates with ease. He could not find the words to say speak, but he didn't have to. Because after the small conflict ended, a groan was heard elsewhere.
"Ow."
Turning their gaze, a man with a similar appearance to the girl greeted their eyes
"Man that hurt." Rubbing his head, the mysterious girl had caught his attention. He too noticed how similar she dressed to him... and it was kinda awkward really. "Who the hell are you."
Taking a moment to regain her composure, the woman puffed her chest out as a huge smile plastered over her face.
"I'm Lunna. And I'm going to become Queen of the Pirates."
