"Fascinating…"
Verde continued to watch through the lens of his microscope as a sample underwent a chemical reaction. Once again, his latest test subject surprised him - a miraculous feat in itself.
"…heats itself up in reaction to cold" he mutters to himself "…highly resistant to extreme heat…"
Changing into a new pair of gloves, he grabs his scalpel and continues collecting samples from the new specimen he'd brought into his lab. He makes another long, careful incision, increasing the visibility of his specimen's inner workings even further than the previous vivisection did. This allows him to have better maneuverability within the lower abdomen.
"I wonder…" he mutters "…did this lead to increased immune responses, or was it detrimental to vitamin intake…?"
Carefully maneuvering anything in his way or obscuring his view, Verde begins making small incisions at strategic points, collecting samples of the interior of both the small and large intestine in order to test the overall health of specimen's digestive system.
He then removes the appendix and one kidney, carefully setting them aside before placing them in separate sterile receptacles and putting them away in the sample cooler for later testing. He then returns and gets a sample of the specimen's stomach lining, as well as contents in order to evaluate dietary habits.
After placing the stomach samples within a machine of his own design created to evaluate and identify any and all naturally forming, manmade, or commercial materials from the smallest traces, he once again changed into a new pair of gloves and even replaced the tip of his scalpel as to not cross contaminate any new samples.
The next part was going to be a bit tricky. In order to properly analyze the different elements of the specimen's eyes and search for mutations and anomalies, one would have to be removed with as little damage to the optic nerve and eye itself as possible. Verde gently placed a small metal framework device over one eye and adjusted it to hold back the upper and lower eyelid. As carefully as possible he edged beneath the eye to tourniquet and truncates necessary sections of the optic tract before severing it and easing the eye out.
"Marvelous. Now I can-"
A good distance away around a corner, the door creaked open and in walked Reborn, looking tired and frustrated. Rubbing his face with his hand, he begins talking and turns the corner without looking up.
"Verde, have your contacts heard anything? We still can't find-"
Reborn glances up and freezes, eyes going wide and skin going pale.
"- Tsuna."
Verde sighs, annoyed that his experiment has been cut short now that Reborn has gotten involved - but this is not the noise that catches the hitman's attention. a small noise, barely audible, is heard from behind Verde where the young sky lay.
If possible, the World's Greatest Hitman's eyes go wider and skin goes paler.
Tsuna is alive.
And he's awake.
Verde notices the hitman's look and rolls his eyes.
"What, did you think I'd let him die?" he says incredulously. "The Vongola still needs a boss - and it'd be problematic if there was no heir. "
