Apologies if you were expecting a proper update. I usually hate when authors do this but given the circumstances if seemed like the best course of action.

Over the last few weeks, I've received a number of private messages that were, to put it mildly, extremely hostile. I don't know if they were the work of one person with multiple accounts or a small group of like-minded users, but either way I've decided to present my response in public rather than replying directly.

First and foremost, I'd like to point out the I'm a hobby writer, just like all the writers on sites like this. I do this for free, in my spare time, because I enjoy it. Threatening to report me for content abuse or saying that you'll (somehow) get my account suspended isn't going to encourage me to write more. Threatening me with violence definitely won't.

Second, I am fully aware of the steps I could have taken to prevent my recent computer mishap, and I accept that the files I lost were a direct result of my own complacency. Calling me any number of derogatory names - ranging from idiot, to furry pervert, to things I'm not even comfortable typing let alone repeating here - aren't going to hammer that point home any further.

Third, it seems like you thought that peppering a demand for more updates with an impressive variety of contradictory bigoted slurs would help your case, but guess what? It didn't.

I know that these don't even represent a fraction of the people who enjoy my stories, and I'm grateful to every one of you for your kind and encouraging words over the years. And let me say, for the record, that I'm not going to abandon my work. What said, my writing is usually a reflection of how I'm feeling, and right now I'm feeling some pretty negative stuff.

So, for want of a better term, I'm taking a sabbatical. Just some time to cool off and get back to a place where these stories inspire creativity, rather than anger.

Take care, everyone.
