The Inner Struggle

Beeeeeppppp...There goes my alarm clock. It's exactly six P.M., but the faint morning light is barely coming through the window. I want to go back to sleep, but I must get up. The beeping is becoming insistently annoying, so I press the snooze. Which was a mistake, because I feel my eyelids drooping and I succumb to my sleepiness. Just five more minutes...

BEEEEEPPPPP...My five minute snooze is up and the fight for consciousness begins again. I grab the clock off the shelf and stuff it under my pillow. Oops, I accidentally hit the snooze button as I shove it under and begin to zone out once more...

BEEEEEEEEEEEEEPPPPPPPPPPPPP...The room is somewhat brighter now when I scramble around for the alarm clock. As fast as I can move with a sleep-drugged mind, I hastily turn off the alarm and stumble out of bed. I am victorious! I have conquered my warm refuge to venture out into the cold, dark unknown. (No fair. Everybody else is still sleeping!)
