The doctor looked at the x-rays.

"Joe lets speak outside the room," he told Joe Boyd.
Joe nodded. He kissed his wife and promised he'd be back. He stepped out with the doctor.

"I'm afraid your wife's x-rays don't look good," he said, "She's riddled with cancer."
Joe felt his heart drop to his knees.

"NO! NO THIS CAN'T BE," he exclaimed, "IT'S NOT FAIR!"

"I'm sorry Joe," the doctor said, "We'll start treatment immediately and hopefully we can..."
Joe couldn't hear the doctor anymore. He was beyond listening. His brain wasn't comprehending. He felt like he was going to pass out.
