This starts right after Ron confronts Harry about the leprechaun gold. And in this one-shot Harrys treatment from the Dursleys was a bit worse than in cannon. Enjoy!
…"must be nice to have so much money you don't notice if a pocketful of Galleons goes missing."
Harry stood abruptly "I am sick and tired of hearing you complain. You have the one thing I have always wanted and you're to daft to even relies you have it. I would give up all the money and fame in less than a second to have what you have, and you know what that is Ronald?" Ron shook his head dumbfoundedly. At this point, everyone in the great hall was staring, but Harry didn't notice. "A family. You have someone to tuck you in at night, and kiss your booboos, and comfort you when you cry, and hold you after a nightmare. You have siblings to play with, people who will stand up for you and stay with you no matter what. You have people who will never leave you because no matter what you so you are still their family, and they love you unconditionally. I have dead parents. I have an aunt who thinks I'm a freak, who hates me no madder how hard I tried to impress her, who punishes me because I did a better job at something then her Dudly, who makes me do all the cooking, and cleaning, and gardening then sends me to my room without a single speck of food to eat because no matter how perfect the house and yard looks I somehow messed up. I have an uncle who will make up excuses just to be able to make my life even more of a living hell, who will yell at me and slap me because I woke him up with my screaming from my nightmares, who enjoys causing me pain by reminding me my parents are dead because of me. I have a cousin whose favorite game is catching me and beating me up and I can't get away because he is three times my size, who's second favorite thing to do is get me in trouble, who gets everything he wants while I get nothing. Until I was 11 my bedroom was the cupboard under the stairs. Yes, I'm famous, but I'm famous because I'm the "boy who lived" but every time I hear that wretched name I'm reminded that my parents didn't. I have only dreamed of having what you have and money can't buy it Ron. So stop complaining about what you don't have and start cherishing what you do." And with that Harry James Potter marched out of the room leaving behind a shocked great hall.
Dumbledore realized he had made a grave mistake and in that moment, everybody who was close with the boy who lived vowed to do whatever it takes to save the savoir.
