Chapter 15: Heroes in a Half Shell
There was a yellow flash then Naruto along with Batgirl appeared on the rooftop of a tall building in the middle of the night after warping from the former's base in San Fransisco.
"Okay, so what do we do now?" asked Naruto.
Batgirl replied "Before we left, Batman had sent a message that we should go to the Gotham Police Department and inquire from Commissioner Gordon about the recent activities relating to the Foot Clan,"
"Alright then, lead the way,"
The duo headed for their next destination with Batgirl leaping across the rooftops and making use of her grappling hook to swing across long gaps whilst Naruto was easily keeping up with her thanks to his ninja training until finally arriving at the roof of the Gotham Police Station where they saw Gordon already there waiting for them, must have been informed by Batman of their coming.
"Good to see you, Batgirl. And I believe that this is the first time we're meeting, Zenko," said Gordon politely.
Naruto bowed in response "It's nice to meet you, Gordon-san. I heard lots of good things about you when I was here before moving to San Fransisco,"
"I could say the same about you, given that you're with the Justice League,"
"Batman sent us to inquire from you about the recent activities relating to these ninjas," Batgirl spoke.
Gordon rubbed his head "Yes, those ones. As if this city doesn't have enough of these kinds of oddities...anyways these ninjas have been busy and practically everywhere that it's making it hard for the Gotham Police to keep up. Not to mention that their actions are rather odd to say the least,"
"What do you mean?"
"Some of these ninjas would attack other gangsters, others would steal tech from companies, even rob jewelry stores. All these feels too random if you ask me,"
Naruto hummed in thought, listening to Gordon's statement "They're distractions, I'm sure of it,"
"What makes you say that?"
"One of the most used tactics of any ninja is deception; purposeful misdirection, baiting and distraction. The one leading these ninjas has a main goal in mind but he doesn't want anyone to know or figure it out. So, he has his ninjas doing these strange actions as a means to distract everyone from their true goals and at the same time, spreading the police forces thin to prevent them from reacting quickly enough," the blonde ninja explained.
"When you put it that, it definitely explains a lot of things. They must be trying to distract us from whatever they're planning and at the same time wear us down so we won't be able to stop them when the time comes. Ninjas can be quite devious…no offense," said Gordon, sheepishly at the end.
Naruto waved him off in understanding "None taken, I'm a different class of ninja compared to them,"
Batgirl suddenly got a call on her communicator which she answered "Batgirl here,"
[Batgirl? This is Nightwing, I'm calling with the hopes that you're back in Gotham cause I could use some help right about now] said Nightwing, they could hear the sound of gunshots and oddly enough that of a chainsaw in the background.
"Nightwing, what's happening?"
[You might not believe me, but I'm currently engaging a mutant rhino and warthog; both are armed to the teeth. I was spying on them but I guess they must have sniffed me out. Whoa!]
"Where are you?" asked Batgirl urgently.
[In the old abandoned underground subway station on the westside of the city, you can lock in on the signal of my communicator]
"We're on our way!"
[Please do]
"Sounds to me like one of your partners is in trouble," said Naruto, having listened in the conversation.
"Yeah, and we need to be there yesterday," Batgirl used her communicator to lock in on Nightwing's signal and was able to locate him.
"In that case…," Naruto scooped Batgirl into his arms, causing the girl to yelp in surprise "You navigate while I get us there since I'm much faster,"
Batgirl blushed "O-Okay, let's go!"
They took off with Naruto rapidly leaping across the rooftops with great speed and Batgirl giving directions on where to go with Gordon watching them leave with a perplexed expression on his face.
"That's something new for me to see in my career as a commissioner," Gordon rubbed the top of his head "But for some strange reason, I feel like beating him up for doing something I don't approve,"
Somewhere in the part of an underground subway terminal, Nightwing was taking cover behind one of the support pillars as bullets flew around him for the umpteenth time in this fight of his. He heard heavy footsteps quickly approaching where he was and immediately leapt right before something smashed right through the pillar, forcing him out into the open.
"You know, when Batman called me over from Bludhaven to help him and Robin with this ninja business, I wasn't expecting this…," Nightwing muttered to himself while staring at his opponents.
One is a mutated anthropomorphic rhino, wearing an unzipped khaki green military vest over his hulking muscular body, camo printed pants, a pair of black metal studded gloves, a military utility belt, and a pair of pilot goggles. He was armed with a large bloodied sledgehammer and a heavy machine gun with grenade launcher attachment.
The other is a mutated anthropomorphic warthog with a purple spiked mohawk, wearing an unzipped red vest, a purple visor-style shades, dark brown pants, and a rectangular nose ring. He is armed with a chainsaw and an assault rifle.
"Compared to Killer Croc, I gotta admit that these two are more fashionable that him," Nightwing commented.
"We've had enough of your jumping around like a damn monkey, squirt! Keep this up and I gonna bore a hole right through you with my horn!" said the rhino mutant in annoyance.
"Chillax Rocksteady, no need to blow ya top!" said the warthog mutant.
"Kinda hard not to, Bebop,"
"He's bound to tire out and when he does…," Bebop revved his chainsaw with a smirk "He's gonna be all over the place,"
"I've fought guys wielding firearms, clubs, hammers and swords. A chainsaw is something new to me," said Nightwing.
Suddenly there was the sound of rumbling which was coming from neither side then a part of the ceiling burst as someone landed in between them, shocking everyone around.
"Nobody move, this is a crime bust!" a voice called out sharply, the dust dissipated to reveal Naruto standing there in a combat stance and Batgirl landing next to him soon after.
Batgirl looked at Naruto "Did you really have blast to a hole through the floors to get here?"
The blonde ninja shrugged his shoulders "I figured it would be the quickest way to get here,"
"Glad to see you here, Batgirl and with backup to boot," Nightwing called out to them.
Batgirl was about to reply when they heard a gun cocking and looked to see both Rocksteady and Bebop reloading their guns and preparing to fire. Naruto sped through a set of handsigns for a jutsu "Earth Style: Mud Wall!" he slammed both palms into the floor to make a large mound of earth rise in front of them to serve as a shield against the incoming bullets.
"Well, you've got your own bag of tricks. But keep a head's up cause one of them got a very thick skull," Nightwing called out in alert.
No sooner he said that, Rocksteady lowered his head and charged forward towards the mud wall, smashing right through it but not before Naruto and co got out of the way. Hearing the sound of a chainsaw, Naruto leaned backwards for the chainsaw to sweep over him and continued on to perform several handstand backflips to evade the following swings. But then he got blindsided by a strike from Rocksteady's sledgehammer and was sent slamming into a wall then slumped to the ground where he lay unmoving.
Bebop strutted up to Rocksteady with a smirk "Nice shot there, Rock. He didn't even see it coming!"
Rocksteady slung his sledgehammer onto his shoulder "All those days of playing baseball when I was a kid is paying off,"
They heard a poofing sound and looked to see a wooden log at where the masked ninja was supposed to be. Before they could even question what just happened, the ground suddenly burst open and Naruto shot out while positioned in between them and performed a chakra enhanced splits kick on their heads simultaneously which knocked them away.
"Nice try, but I was long since aware that you were trying to attack me from my blindside. Did that lots of times to know," said Naruto, he glanced towards Batgirl and Nightwing "You two handle the piggy while I deal with horn head here,"
"We'll see about that," Rocksteady snorted in response, blowing steam out his nostrils.
Nightwing reached to his back and brought out two telescopic escrima sticks then took a stance "Shall we?"
"Let's," Batgirl also reached to her back and took out a collapsible nightstick which surprised Nightwing and he made it known.
"Whoa, you got yourself some new toys while I was in Bludhaven?"
"I don't exactly have the level of striking power that you and the others do, so I figured that I equip myself with a tool which can meet what I need," Batgirl explained.
"Then let's see what you can do with it,"
Back with Naruto, he was ducking and somersaulting around the swings from Rocksteady's sledgehammer before taking to the offensive by creating several shadow clones that joined him to attack with fierce punches on several parts of the rhino mutant's body but he noticed that his opponent was still able to continue fighting in spite of being swarmed by numbers.
"Looks like this guy is tough-skinned," Naruto commented.
"Last I checked, rhinos have thick skins meant to be resilient due to their habitat. He being a mutated rhino gives him the same thing except boosted," Kurama pointed out…hey, sometimes the Bijuu is bored to the point of watching wildlife tv shows whenever Naruto lets him out of the seal to wander about.
"I see…," he caught sight of Rocksteady unholstering the heavy machine gun from his back one hand and taking aim at him and the clones "Incoming!" they scattered in different directions to evade the shots fired at them, some taking cover while others dashed around to stay out of range.
"Hold still, will ya?!" said Rocksteady in annoyance.
Naruto retorted "How about we do this instead?"
One of the clones launched a chakra chain to wrap around the machine gun and pulled to disarm but Rocksteady held onto it tightly and refused to let go of it. Two more of the clones didn't waste the opportunity to rush in and latch on to the mutant's shoulders and proceeded to pummel his head repeatedly with punches.
Naruto formed a set of handsigns then went to a three-point stance with a hand held to the side "Earth Style: Fist Rock jutsu!" he encased the outstretched arm in rock, then channeled chakra to his feet for a quick burst of speed as he rushed forward and deal a powerful hardened punch into Rocksteady's chest, sending him flying while dropping his sledgehammer and machine gun before slamming into the wall.
Naruto frowned a bit; he could tell that the mutant isn't ready to throw in the towel yet as he pushed himself off the cratered wall and glared at him. He noticed the rhino lowered his head and was dragging his left foot against the floor, all the while snorting steam from his nostrils like he is about to…
"He's not gonna…,"
"He sure is gonna…," Kurama deadpanned in response.
Over with Nightwing and Batgirl, the duo are dealing with Bebop who was attacking them fiercely with the chainsaw. Earlier before, the warthog mutant was shooting at them with his assault rifle but the heroes teamed up to disable the weapon with Nightwing using a smoke pellet to obstruct his vision then Batgirl threw an explosive batarang to destroy the firearm which left Bebop with just his chainsaw but that didn't make him any less dangerous to face.
Nightwing tapped his escrima sticks together to make the ends of them light up and crackle with electricity as he continued to bash at Bebop's body while evading the swings of his chainsaw. Batgirl wasn't being idle either, making good use of her nightstick to strike at the joints with the intent to make it harder for the opponent to move around.
"Geez, this guy's tough!" Batgirl complained, jumping away when Bebop attacked her with his chainsaw.
"Guess he's trying to bring home the bacon, huh?" Nightwing joked playfully.
The heroine groaned at the joke "Nightwing, not the time for puns!"
"Hey, there's always time for puns,"
"GANGWAY!"
The duo looked to see Naruto and his clones having some trouble due to Rocksteady running around on all fours, smashing through anything in his path. They had to dive out of the way since they didn't want to get trampled by the rampaging rhino.
"I thought you were dealing with him!" Nightwing called out.
"I am, just setting him up!" Naruto replied, he saw Rocksteady stomping towards him and took off with his opponent in pursuit. He ran towards a wall before dashing up on it vertically then he kicked off it to somersault over Rocksteady and land behind him "Let's see if I can't slow you down, Earth Style: Dark Swamp!" he slapped his hands onto the floor, changing the ground around Rocksteady's feet into mud and he began to sink into it.
"What the?!" Rocksteady tried to free himself but continued to sink "Yo Bebop, I could use some help over here!"
"I'm coming, Rock!" Bebop began running over to help his partner.
"I don't think so, porky!" Nightwing somersaulted into the air before descending with both escrima sticks raised above his head as he brought them down on the warthog's head, effectively knocking him "Nighty-night,"
Naruto turned to the struggling Rocksteady "Time for you to go to sleep as well," he channeled chakra through his fist then punched him hard enough to lose consciousness.
Minutes, they had the two mutants tied up and Naruto had applied Paralysis Tags on them to make sure that they don't move.
"This reminds me of the Langstrom incident but I have a nagging feeling that this was done in some other way," said Nightwing thoughtfully.
"You might be right, I'll take a DNA sample to analyze," Batgirl took out a syringe from her utility belt and extracted two vials of blood from the mutants.
"Given that that these guys bear the symbol of the Foot Clan, that probably means that they also deal in biological mutation," said Naruto with a small frown.
Batgirl frowned at this "Sounds like we're dealing with more than just ninjas,"
Sensing something approaching them, Naruto spun round with a kunai in hand and deflected several arrows which were aiming towards them. Stepping out from the shadows are more of the Foot ninjas and someone was leading them albeit dressed a bit differently.
She's a kunoichi with short black hair which is hime-styled with a red bandanna on her forehead. She wears the Foot ninja outfit with silver metal bracers on her arms and legs, a tight black shirt which has the Foot symbol on the chest with a grey protective vest, and black leggings reaching up to her calves (2003 version). She's currently equipped with dual katanas strapped to her back along with a bow and a quiver of arrows.
"I was wondering why those fools were taking so long, it would seem that it would be because of you three," said the kunoichi.
"Who are you?" Batgirl demanded warily.
"I am Karai; loyal follower of the Shredder," the kunoichi introduced herself.
"Aren't ninjas supposed to be secretive?" asked Nightwing.
Naruto shrugged in response "Different clans, different views,"
"I have come for those two and also to warn you to stay out the way of the Foot," Karai declared.
"That's rich, considering you guys barged into this city while knowing full well who protects it," Batgirl retorted.
"Your leader the Batman is of no consequence to us, consider this a warning," Karai raised a hand, signaling the Foot ninjas to take action as they nocked several arrows but didn't aim directly at the heroes but rather the ceiling above their heads and fired them.
Nightwing noticed something about the arrows and realized what they are "Run, those are explosive arrows! They're trying to cause a cave-in!"
They began to run right when the arrows struck the ceiling and exploded, causing rubble to fall. The cave-in resulted in the heroes being separated from the Foot ninjas and the mutants.
"Well, that just happened," Nightwing rubbed the back of his head.
Batgirl crossed her arms "Am I the only one concerned with how confident she sounded? Like they have nothing to worry about and are unafraid of Batman,"
"Pretty sure that's what the previous ones thought before he gave them a reason to be scared of him,"
"Even so, we've learnt a lot from this scuffle. Let's meet up with Batman and give him the info, grab on to me and I'll get us out of here," said Naruto, Nightwing and Batgirl touched his shoulders then he locked on to one of the Hiraishin seals in Gotham and warped them towards it.
Later on, they got in touch with Batman and he had them meet up with him at a rooftop along with Robin so they could share what they had learned in their encounters with the Foot ninjas. While there, they were quick to notice Batman placing a hand on his chest obviously resisting the urge to groan in pain.
"Batman, are you okay?" asked Robin worriedly.
"I'm fine, my suit was able to absorb a majority of the damage I got from a particular blow when I was facing the leader of the Foot ninjas when they came to steal the experimental Cloud Seeder from Waynetech which I advised for them to move it to an outside location beforehand as a precaution which proved to be the right decision," Batman explained.
Naruto stepped forward "Then let me use my chakra to patch you up,"
"I'll be fine," Batman refuted.
"We need you to be at the top of your game for this, need I remind you what happened when Luthor hired those villains to try to take us out?"
"…fine,"
Naruto went on to use the Yang Chakra to heal Batman but frowned when he was done "You'd better consider yourself lucky because the injuries I just healed wasn't something you would have recovered from anytime soon,"
"What do you mean?" asked Batgirl with concern.
"His internal organs received more damage compared to the rest of his body; the technique used by the Shredder must have been created with the purpose of killing with one strike. Batman's suit was able to cushion the strike and he must have hurt the guy enough that he couldn't use the technique at its full power," Naruto explained.
"Sounds similar to the Hyuuga Clan's Gentle Fist," said Kurama.
"I think you should tell us more about this technique so we can watch out in case those other ninjas know how to use it," Nightwing suggested, feeling tense from hearing Naruto's words.
With that, the group began exchanging with each other and Batgirl handed the blood samples of the mutants to Batman who said he'll analyze in the Bat Cave. The last person was Robin who seemed to be a little sheepish.
"What I'm gonna say might be hard to believe," said Robin unsurely.
"Dude, three of us fought a warthog and a rhino. This night is already weird," Nightwing pointed out.
"Okay then, the thing was that I came across some of the Foot ninjas attacking a group of Penguin's men and I ended up fighting when one of the ninjas managed to flush me out of my hiding place. Things weren't looking good for me since I was outnumbered. Then the most craziest thing happened that moment: a mutant rat with brown fur while wearing a red karate gi and carrying a stick appeared and actually helped me in defeating both the ninjas and Penguin's thugs. After the fight, I tried to talk to him but he pulled off a disappearing act just like you normally do," Robin explained.
"Okay…so now we add a kung fu rat into the mix. At this rate, Gotham's gonna become a freaky zoo," Nightwing commented "But what I don't get is why a mutant helped you when the ones we fought are with the ninjas?"
"There's the possibility that there's an outside faction against them but it could also be that they're trying to misdirect our perspective on whether they're enemies or allies," Batman looked at the blood samples in his hand "I'll need to analyze these blood samples in order to come up with a counter agent,"
"In the meantime, I'll take a look around and see if I can find these mutants," Naruto spoke up.
"What makes you so sure?" asked Batgirl.
"By sensing for their life energy which is obviously different from that of a normal human being's. I track those energies down, I find them,"
"Make sure to contact us once you find them," said Batman.
"Will do, catch you guys later," Naruto took as he leapt across the rooftops.
Nightwing watched him go with a smirk on his face "I like that guy, he's pretty cool,"
"Of course you would, he's a ninja and a nice one compared to the ones we met," said Batgirl.
"Guess that makes him the black sheep out of all of them," said Robin.
"Let's head back to the Bat Cave and begin the analysis," Batman pushed a button on his remote to call on the Batwing while the others went to acquire their signature mode of transportation.
Sometime later, Naruto was perched atop the spire of a tall tower and scouting the city in search of any activity either ninjas or mutants. He was trying to gather nature energy to access Sage Mode but the severe lack of it and the pollution was making the process too long much to his annoyance. No wonder why Poison Ivy was so upset with humanity and acted that way.
He was about to move on to the next part of the city when he caught sight of some sort of commotion occurring on top of a building. He leapt off the spire and went into a freefall before launching a chakra chain towards a wall to swing out and latch onto the side of the building with chakra. Naruto stealthily climbed to the top and peeked over to see that it was the Foot Ninjas and apparently, they were fighting another group that weren't human but rather four mutant turtles, and that's not the only thing strange about them.
The turtles all wore brown paddings and white wrappings on their knees, elbows and wrists, and also bandannas around their eyes. But there are some differences between each of them: the first of the four wears a blue bandanna and wields a pair of katanas. The second wears a purple bandanna and utilizes a Bo staff, he's also equipped with a utility belt around his waist, an electronic device strapped to his right wrist and high-tech goggles mounted to his forehead. The third wears a red bandanna and wields a pair of sais, he also has bandages applied to parts of his body. The fourth and last turtle wears an orange bandanna and wields a pair of nunchucks, he also wears wireless headphones and has a skateboard strapped to the back of his shell (an; The appearance is based on the TMNT x SMITE game crossover)
Naruto watched the ongoing battle and took note of how the four turtles fought together, clearly seeing the results of training since they were younger and they weren't aiming to kill but rather knock out unlike the Foot ninjas.
"Those guys are well-trained and work well together," thought Naruto.
"So, what will you do now?" asked Kurama.
Naruto smiled in response "Lend them a helping hand, of course!" he leapt into the air and landed in the midst of the battle, surprising both sides then one of the turtles reacted excitedly upon recognizing him.
"Whoa dudes, it's Zenko in the flesh!" said the turtle wearing the orange bandanna.
"Yeah, we can see that, Mikey," retorted the turtle wearing the red bandanna.
Naruto turned to them "Hope you guys don't mind if I lend a hand or a foot in this fight,"
The turtle wearing the blue bandanna nodded in response "You're welcome to join, it will be a pleasure to fight alongside a fellow ninja,"
The blonde ninja grinned behind his mask "Then let's get to it!"
Working together with the turtles, they made short work of the Foot ninjas and had them tied up with Naruto applying Paralysis Tags to make sure that they can't escape, a precaution considering that they all share the same occupation.
Naruto turned to the turtles "Thanks to this fight, I was able to get a proper read on you four and I can tell that you're good guys,"
"Meeting a hero like Zenko, I gotta get an autograph!" said the orange bandanna wearing turtle excitedly.
"Anyways, who are you guys?" asked Naruto curiously.
The turtle wearing the blue bandanna stepped forward "Allow me to introduce myself, I'm Leonardo but you can call me Leo,"
"My name is Donatello although you can call me Donnie for short," the turtle wearing the purple bandanna spoke up next.
The turtle wearing the red bandanna crossed his arms with a huff "The name's Raphael, but I prefer that you call me Raph,"
The last turtle waved his hands excitedly "And I'm the party dude of the group; Michaelangelo, you can also call me Mikey! And we are…the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!"
Naruto smiled in response "It's nice to meet you all, cool team name by the way,"
"I'm kind of curious that you aren't surprised at the sight of us," said Donnie, feeling a bit confused since people won't exactly be chill with them instantly save for a certain few back home.
"I don't judge by looks but rather by action, plus some friends and I fought a rhino and a warthog earlier before, not to mention that a rat helped another friend of mine," Naruto explained.
"That would be our master Splinter, he raised us since we were hatchlings," said Leo.
"Rocksteady and Bebop, no surprise that they're here too," said Raph with a frown.
Naruto quirked an eyebrow at Raph's begrudging tone "Sound like you guys have history with the Foot Clan,"
"A rather long one," said Donnie.
"In that case, I'd better contact Batman and the others so you can tell us more about these guys and why they're here in Gotham,"
"We're gonna meet the Batman, I must be dreaming! Somebody pinch m-OW!" Mikey yelped in pain as Raph gleefully pinched his arm.
"Then we'll take you to the Battle Shell and meet with our father," said Leo.
"Quite the interesting group, aren't they?" Kurama spoke up.
"What's not to like about them? They're pretty cool guys," thought Naruto.
Later on, Naruto along with the turtles had arrived at the Battle Shell which turned out to be disguised as a moving van with the words 'Tortuga Bros. Moving – Since 1984' printed on the sides. The blonde ninja had already contacted the Dark Knight and was told that they're on their way. Inside the van, he met with the rat whom Robin spoke of before. He appears to be quite elderly in terms of age and wears a torn red-orange kimono with dark brown trim, next to him is a walking stick which has a dragon design curled around it and a conical Japanese straw hat (2003 season 5 version).
"Greetings Zenko-san, I am Splinter," the rat bowed his head in greeting.
"Thank you, it's a pleasure to meet you also," Naruto bowed in response "He kinda reminds me of the Third Hokage,"
"I am aware that the reason you're here is to learn purpose of the Foot being in this city and why we're here,"
"Yeah, but let's wait until Batman and the others arrive so you won't have to repeat yourself twice. And speaking of which…," Naruto looked up with the others following suit to see the aforementioned group drop down from above before them.
"Oh man, it's really them. This is the greatest day of my life!" Mikey was currently having a fanboy moment.
"I gotta say, he looks more intimidating from up close," Donnie commented.
"Doesn't look that scary to me," Raph retorted with indifference.
Nightwing rubbed the back of his head "Well, so far I've seen a rhino and a warthog, and now turtles and a rat. Talk about overwhelming,"
Batman got down to business "Who are you and what relation do you have with the Foot Clan and why are they here in Gotham?"
"Hang on…," Naruto reached into his ninja pouch and took out several paper tags with seals drawn on them then he pasted them on the walls of the alleyway "These will create a barrier that will prevent anyone from noticing,"
"Interesting, not scientific but still interesting," said Donnie thoughtfully.
Nodding understanding, Splinter turned to Batman and proceeded to speak "Our enmity with the Foot Clan began a long time ago, back when I was just a regular pet rat of my human master; Hamato Yoshi who was a master ninja and former member of the Foot clan in Japan. My master was falsely accused of murdering a clan member and fled to America to live a new life. However, he was eventually found and killed by another clan member, the actual murderer Oroku Saki who later became the leader of the Foot clan with the moniker the Shredder,"
"The Shredder…we've met earlier," Batman recalled the encounter with displeasure.
"So, what happened after that which led to you guys being what you are now?" asked Batgirl, keenly interested their story.
Splinter continued his story "Ever since then, I had been living in the sewers and fed on scraps. One day, I witnessed an accident; a young boy carrying a jar full of four baby turtles. An old blind man tried to cross the street when he was almost run over by a truck had a man not saved him in time. During that moment, the boy dropped the jar and the turtles fell into the sewer and at the same time, a metal canister bounced out of the truck and fell into the sewer as well. The canister cracked open, spilling a glowing ooze onto the turtles which I came into contact with when I rescued them. I took them to my burrow and the next morning, I woke up to discover that we had all doubled in size and realized that the ooze had affected our growth and made us more intelligent,"
"So, how did you train everyone to become ninjas?" asked Robin.
"My master Yoshi was one of the greatest practitioners of ninjutsu, I learned ninjutsu by mimicking his moves even when I was his pet rat before the mutation, then I passed my teachings onto my sons with the intention to prepare them against the outside world which can be a dangerous place. As the years went by, we eventually encountered the Shredder and the Foot clan which began our battle to stop him from taking over the world which is his ultimate goal,"
Mikey spoke up "And let me tell you dude, we've had lot of crazy times; like when we fought brain looking aliens called the Kraang, stone soldiers, a Rat King and the list goes on!"
"Whoa, sounds like a series of stories we could talk over some food," Robin commented.
"We'd prefer pizza mostly," Donnie responded.
"Not now," said Batman sternly "What is the reason that Shredder would be here in Gotham?"
Leo frowned in response "That's what we're trying to figure out, we learnt that the Shredder had taken several canisters of the very same ooze from TCRI in New York and then came here with us in pursuit,"
"We don't exactly know what his endgame is, but what we DO know is that anything involving the ooze is bad for everyone. It's how we got Rocksteady, Bebop and a few others because of it," said Raph.
"Think maybe one of our villains would be colluding with the Shredder?" asked Batgirl.
"The possibility is there, but know that the Shredder seeks to benefit himself and him alone," Splinter advised.
Batman frowned in thought "First, they stole the prototype generator from Powers Industries which you had tried to prevent, then they attempted to steal the Cloud Seeder from WayneTech which had been moved to a safer place. Now that you speak of this mutagen, I have a suspicion that he might be trying to combine both technologies to spread it all over Gotham and turn everyone into mutants,"
"I jinxed us with what I said earlier, didn't I?" asked Nightwing sheepishly.
"Definitely," said Robin and Batgirl simultaneously.
"So, is there anyone we should worry about that would partner up with the Shredder?" asked Naruto with his arms crossed.
"I'll work on that, we'll also need to work on an anti-mutagen as a precaution," said Batman.
"In that case, we brought some of the ooze with us. It's inside the Battle Shell," Donnie brought up.
"That will help a lot, but do you really have to call it that? Sounds so gross," Batgirl felt a bit creeped out by the word.
"It kinda rolls off the tongue though, ooze…," Mikey pronounced the words playfully.
Robin grinned "He's not wrong though,"
"Not helping, Robin,"
"I've been wondering about something," Nightwing turned to Raph "How good are you with those sais of yours?"
Raphael took out the aforementioned weapons and began spinning them in his hands with a challenging grin "Care to find out?"
Nightwing smirked in response and took out his escrima sticks "Oh I do,"
"Raphael, now is not the time," Splinter scolded.
"Nightwing…," Batman spoke sternly.
The two stared at each other for a minute before sighing and putting away their weapons.
"We can do it later," Nightwing suggested.
"Just name the time and place," said Raph, feeling a bit disappointed at not being able to test his mettle against one of the supposedly famous heroes.
"…," Splinter and Batman stared at each other, feeling a sense of kinship due to having to care for their younger charges and their occasionally troublesome antics.
Elsewhere in a dark room, Karai was kneeling down on one knee with her head bowed before someone who was seated while concealed by the shadows save for the glowing white eyes that pierce through the darkness and was exuding an intimidating aura.
"…and that is the end of my report," said Karai.
The figure hummed in thought "So, the Dark Knight has called upon Zenko to aid him against us, no doubt that those wretched turtles and that infernal rat has allied with them as well,"
"What are your orders, Master Shredder?" asked Karai loyally.
"…if those fools see it wise to form alliances to face me…,"
The figure rose to his feet and stepped forward into the light to reveal himself. He is a muscular man wearing a suit of armor based on that of a samurai with a red tattered sash around his waist. The armor consists of blade covered plaques on his shoulders, forearms, hands and shins. Underneath them, he wears gray robe made of fabric with a chainmail within. Finishing off is a metal helmet with a trident-shaped ornament on top and a metal mask that covers his face, save for his eyes.
"…then I shall make alliances of my own," the Shredder turned to glance at an open suitcase holding canisters which contain bluish glowing ooze and the labels TCRI could be seen on them "With a few incentives, of course," his evil laughter echoes throughout the room and would have planted fear in the hearts of anyone who is weak-willed to hear it.
This is Hussbek online with the latest chapter, Naruto and Batgirl arrive at Gotham and went to Commissioner Gordon to learn more about what the Foot clan have been doing in the city. Naruto figures out the purpose of the sudden crime wave was to distract the police force from their true objective as well as to weaken them as well. At that time, Nightwing contacts the duo for assistance which they immediately complied to and went to help him combat two mutants known as Rocksteady and Bebop and won but they were interrupted by a kunoichi called Karai who came to retrieve the mutants.
They all met up with Batman who had an encounter with the leader of the Foot Clan known as the Shredder and suffered a serious injury but was healed by Naruto, they all shared information and Robin told them of the fight he had with the Foot ninjas and Penguin's thugs and he was assisted by a mutant rat which they found to be an oddity considering that the ones they fought earlier was with the former group.
Going off on his own, Naruto found the aforementioned metahumans who turned out to be mutant turtles trained to be ninjas and were fighting the Foot which he helped deal with and learnt more about them. Bringing both the turtles and the Bat family together, they learnt of the turtles' origins and history with the Foot clan as well as their reason for their presence in Gotham. Unbeknownst to them, Shredder is making plans to counter the heroes with intentions to ally with the villains of Gotham city.
As seen in the chapter, I may be taking portions of the plot from the Batman vs TMNT movie but putting my own spin in things such as adding in more TMNT villains from games, cartoons and comics. The versions of Rocksteady and Bebop are from the IDW Comics and I've based the appearance of the turtles on when they crossed over with the SMITE game to make them more unique for this story. The Battle Shell is from the 2003 series which replaces the first one from season 4 and no Utrom Shredder in this one. I've also got something planned for them in the future so be sure to look forward to it. I'll make an effort to update this story more often. Be sure to read and review like always.
