Chapter 16: Mayhem in Gotham
"Whoa, is this place your base like mine in San Francisco?" asked Naruto as he looked around where they are, having taken off his Fox mask and left his facemask on.
"One of many, helps if we're too far away from our main base and having an emergency," Batgirl explained.
The reason for Batgirl saying that is because Batman had led everyone to the Gotham Financial District and into a seemingly regular shop/apartment which was actually a cover to an underground headquarters with several floors with each for a particular feature; a small crime lab, a training area, a computer terminal, a garage for the Bat vehicles, and an armory containing their spare suits and gear.
"We call this the Bat Bunker!" said Robin with pride.
"Whoa dudes, this is off the chain!" said Mikey excitedly "You got any video games here!? That screen is too good to not have a game console for it!"
"Now that you mention it…,"
Nightwing spoke up "Don't bother, we both know that Batman won't allow it,"
"Darn, now this thought won't be going away," Robin huffed in disappointment.
"Total bummer, man," Mikey was just as disappointed.
Batman and Donatello were currently at the computer terminal with the former making an enquiry "Do you have any data we can refer to? It's necessary for us to know more of what we're going up against,"
"I sure do, got them all in my T-Phone right here," Donnie took out the aforementioned phone and plugged it into the terminal and proceeded to transfer the data into the system.
"Good, in the meantime we'll analyze the mutagen you brought along in order to develop an antidote in the possibility of having to reverse any mutations,"
Batgirl walked up to them "We can do that in the lab upstairs,"
"Of course, let's get started," Donnie and Batgirl went upstairs to the labs while Batman remained at the computer terminal to look at the newly uploaded information with narrowed eyes.
Over at the armory, Raphael was checking out the ordinance with Nightwing accompanying him as the former scrutinizes with a quirked eyebrow.
"Looking at all this gives me the impression of a guy with way too much money in his hands," Raph commented.
Nightwing chuckled "You aren't wrong about that, kinda makes me curious about the kind of gear you guys have,"
"I'm not exactly the brainiac of the team, that's mostly Donnie. We get most of our stuff from the junkyard or whatever we can swipe from the bad guys we beat up to use. Though I can say that I'm a bike enthusiast and I've been speccing up my ShellCycle as high as it can go to become the best wheels I've got,"
"Really? I'm a bit of a bike lover myself, maybe we can compare notes," said Nightwing.
Raph grinned "Or we can do more than just compare notes,"
Nightwing smirked "Of course we can,"
Over at the training area, Naruto was with Splinter and Leo as they were having a conversation since they're fellow ninjas.
"So, what kind of training did you undergo when you were younger? I'm quite curious to know," Splinter inquired.
"I'm sure there are some similarities and at the same time differences in how we were trained due to our internal energies," said Naruto.
"Internal energies? You mean you don't utilize chi energy?" asked Leo curiously.
"No, our bodies are developed to use Chakra which is the combination of spiritual energy and physical energy, being basically our life energy which has been weaponized,"
"Interesting, I've heard of Chakra before but the way you describe it is different from what I know," said Splinter thoughtfully.
"Maybe so, but one needs to train intensely in order to control and manage their chakra in order to perform jutsu properly and avoid wasting their energy," said Naruto, looking back at the past with a nostalgic smile.
"What kind of training did you go through back then?" asked Leo.
"Well, I went through the basics when I was at the academy, but then I took on more serious training when I was assigned to a team,"
"A disaster of a team," Kurama commented which the blonde ninja chose to ignore.
"One of my first exercise was the Tree Climbing exercise where I was required to climb up a tree without using my hands by channeling chakra to my feet and stick to the tree trunk. There's a lot of emphasis on control and concentration; too much and I'll get blasted away from the tree or too little and I won't be able to stick to it at all. It took me several days for me to master it,"
"How intriguing," said Splinter.
"Afterwards, there was the Water Walking exercise and is far more advanced than the Tree Climbing exercise. In this one, you need to channel chakra to your feet in order to stand atop the water's surface, and you need to constantly maintain the chakra flow as the water is ever-changing unlike tree trunks. There are lots more but I'm not aware of all of them,"
Leo was surprised to hear of such capabilities of Naruto's people which piqued his curiosity about another thing "So, what kind of missions did you partake back home?"
Naruto smiled widely "Boy, do I have lots of them! I can start with the time when I-,"
*Alarm Blaring*
"*Sigh* Guess I'll have to tell you guys later,"
Splinter smiled in understanding "It would appear so, but I can tell that they will be worth the wait,"
Everyone met up at the computer terminal where Batman was as Batgirl inquired from him.
"What's happening, Batman?" asked Batgirl.
"An emergency call from Commissioner Gordon; there's been a mass breakout from Arkham Asylum; Joker, Harley Quinn, Dr Freeze, Bane and Scarecrow," Batman informed them.
"I think I've heard of Arkham Asylum back in New York," said Donnie thoughtfully.
"Just to give you a reminder; Arkham Asylum is home to the deadliest of criminals in all of Gotham. The ones Batman mentioned are at the top ten of the big bads," Robin explained.
"And it gets worse, he reported that they had completely changed and are different from how they usually are," Batman added.
"They must have been injected with the Ooze; the Shredder must have sent the Foot to sneak into the asylum and free them while giving them the ooze," said Leo with a frown.
Nightwing frowned "This is bad, they were already had to deal with when they were their normal selves, and now we have to deal with the mutated versions of them,"
"I'm just glad that Pamela-chan isn't involved," thought Naruto.
"This isn't good, Donnie and I have only managed to complete one vial of the Retro-Mutagen which we haven't tested yet," said Batgirl with concern.
"You mean Anti-Ooze," Donnie pointed out.
"I'm not gonna call it that…,"
"So, what's the game plan?" asked Raph with a frown.
"Split up into teams, we'll have to subdue them until we've completed the preparations to reverse the mutations. I suspect there's more to this than meets the eye," said Batman with a frown.
"Oh yeah!" Mikey excitedly took out his nunchucks and starts twirling them "Let's roll out!"
"Wrong franchise, man," said Robin, raining down on Mikey's parade.
"Let us be off," Splinter spoke up.
With that, the group set out in different directions in accordance to the info they received concerning where the mutated villains are located while split into teams; Batman and Splinter went after Joker and Harley Quinn in the Bat Mobile, Nightwing along with Raphael and Robin are in pursuit of Bane via their ShellCycle and Batcycle, Batgirl with Donatello and Michealangelo are heading towards Dr. Freeze's location in the Battle Shell, and Naruto is with Leonardo to go after Scarecrow by leaping across the rooftops.
With Batman and Splinter
Arriving at the Gotham Amusement Park, Batman and Splinter disembarked from the Bat Mobile and made their way into the area while keeping at eye out for the insane clown.
"From what I've heard of the Joker, he is as cunning as he is insane like they say?" Splinter inquired calmly.
"That and a lot more, his plans and antics puts the lives of many at risk all for the purpose of amusing himself. I've long since learnt to expect the unexpected from him," said Batman, thinking back to the clashes he had with the Joker.
"Hehehehehehe *Hiss* Hehehehehehe…," a familiar laugh of insanity echoed throughout the area which put the two on guard "Why Batman, nice to see that you've arrived. And look, you brought along a playmate who could also serve as my dinner,"
"Come out, Joker. There's no point in hiding," said Batman.
"Now why would I do that? We haven't started playing yet. Oh I know, how about a game of Hide and Seek? Although the game is already underway since I'm hiding, do try to find me, Batsy ol' chum. Ahahahahahaha!"
Splinter frowned "He is quite the character,"
"Yes he is," Batman muttered in agreement.
With Nightwing, Raphael and Robin
The trio had been listening in on the police scanner which had reported about Bane having stolen a police cruiser to escape from Arkham Asylum to get to the city before abandoning it. Nightwing suspected that Bane might have gone to the slums to make it hard for the police to locate him and so led them there.
The trio are currently walking through a small alleyway with their weapons out, ready to respond to the appearance of their target.
Robin decided to ask Raph something "Hey, I wanna ask you something. Does the Ooze affect your mind?"
"From my past experiences, no it doesn't. There might be some slight changes but you still remain yourself," Raph answered.
"I don't know whether that's a good thing or a bad thing," Nightwing commented.
"I'm more for the former,"
Suddenly the wall to the left burst open as two large hands covered in orange fur shot out and grabbed both Raph and Nightwing by their necks and pulled them inside.
"Nightwing! Raph! Hang on, I'm coming!" Robin wasted no time in jumping through the hole and found himself standing in an old abandoned gym where he saw Raph and Nightwing gradually getting back to their feet from the surprise attack. They saw someone in the room with them and are surprised upon see who it is.
"Bane, is that you?" asked Nightwing in confusion.
Indeed, it is Bane but his mutation had him taking on the form of an anthropomorphic leopard wearing a black luchador outfit as he sneers at them.
"Of course it is me, and I feel like a new man!" Bane declared arrogantly.
"Jeez, I never took him for a cat person," said Nightwing.
Robin nodded in agreement "I know, right?"
"Guys, snap out of your moment of epiphany and let's deal with this furball!" Raph called out, making to two refocus on the fight.
With Batgirl, Donatello and Michaelangelo
It wasn't so hard for the trio to locate Dr. Freeze as he's been leaving behind a trail of frozen destruction, leading all the way to an abandoned factory which they cautiously went inside to search for him.
"So, what's to know about this guy?" asked Donnie curiously, mildly noting how the articles and items in the factory have been frozen over.
"Dr. Freeze used to be a brilliant scientist but certain things happened that changed his physiology and he became a villain in his desire to save a loved one, no matter the cost. He uses a very powerful Ice Gun, so you better not fall under his crosshairs," Batgirl explained.
"Sounds like a loving coldhearted dude," said Mikey jokingly, receiving groans from Batgirl and Donnie.
Their conversation was interrupted by the sound of growling and turned to see someone stepping out from the shadows, revealing to be none other than Dr. Freeze who has taken on the form of a mutant polar bear while wearing his red goggles and has his ice gun which is linked to the ice pack harnessed to his back.
"This is as far as you can go, there's no escape from the icy grip of death!" Dr. Freeze took out his ice gun and pulled the trigger to launch a beam of freezing ice.
The trio immediately took evasive action to avoid the incoming attack with Mikey climbing up to a catwalk to take refuge there.
Mikey was rather excited about the whole thing "A polar bear with an ice gun, that is sooo cool!"
"I'll show you cool!" Dr. Freeze changed the setting to fire a barrage of icicles at Mikey who ran along the catwalk and vaulting off it at the end to land on the ground with a roll then quickly taking cover behind a steel pillar.
"And he's got the lines down and everything!" Mikey ducked back when he was shot at again "Dude's on point!"
"Does he always get on the nerves of your bad guys back home?" asked Batgirl, seeing how Dr. Freeze is intent on turning Mikey into an ice sculpture.
"More than you know, and we often take advantage of that," Donnie replied.
With Naruto and Leonardo
Naruto and Leo managed to track Scarecrow to the Gotham City Park thanks to the former using his sensor abilities to locate the villain's mutated life energy. The duo silently yet warily walked through the darkened forest due to the lampposts having been destroyed by Scarecrow to make himself hard to locate.
"Stay sharp, Batman warned us that Scarecrow uses some sort of gas that makes us see things that aren't real," said Naruto, cautioning his fellow ninja.
Leo nodded in response "Got it, kinda wish that we brought along gas masks,"
Suddenly they were alerted by the sound of wings flapping as something flew around them before landing on a nearby tree branch for them to see who it is.
Surely it is Scarecrow dressed in his namesake but the mutation has his new appearance put more emphasis in the 'crow' part of his name, given that he now possesses the physiology of the bird he represents.
"Well well, here I was hoping to be the one to face Batman and his cronies. But facing a fellow member of the Justice League is just as good, I'm curious to see how you'll react to your greatest fear," said Scarecrow menacingly before taking to the air with a loud caw.
Naruto and Leo stood back-to-back as the Scarecrow flew around them several times as if searching for the right moment to strike which he did as he swooped towards them with Leo as his target, tossing a capsule which shattered to release a yellow gas around them.
Suspecting it to be the Fear Gas which they were warned about, the duo quickly held their breaths to avoid breathing it in. Scarecrow saw this but remained undeterred as he proceeded to fly around and constantly dropped more capsules onto the ground around the two to engulf them in a thick cloud of thick Fear gas.
"Let's see how long you can hold your breath, it's only a matter of time till you're forced to breath in the gas and live your greatest fear!" Scarecrow declared.
"Don't count on it!" thought Naruto with a look of defiance.
Nightwing, Raphael and Robin POV
The three heroes are really having their hands full dealing with Bane who was already deadly with the use of his Venom but now he's proving to be just as deadly in his new mutated form. Nightwing and Robin know full well that they mustn't let him grab either of them or it will be all over for them.
"Come on, show me a good time!" Bane picked up a sandbag effortlessly with one hand and flung it towards the three heroes as they leapt out of the way.
"You're about to get your wish, kitty!" Raph dashed forward and ducked underneath Bane's punches and attacked with several punches to the gut but it doesn't seem to inflict that much damage judging by the smug look on the villain's face before being grabbed and lifted into the air.
"Hah!" Robin attacked by throwing multiple Batarangs which stabbed into Bane's back before discharging electricity throughout his back, forcing him to let go of Raph.
"Incoming!" Nightwing dropped down from the ceiling and slammed both feet onto the back of Bane's head, driving it into the ground before somersaulting away and landing next to Raph "You good?"
Raph retook his fighting stance with his sais in hand "Just peachy, can't wait to declaw this cat,"
"The feelings' mutual,"
Bane got back to his feet and growled at the group, he caught sight of a dumbbell next to him and picked it up to use as a makeshift club then lunged forward to attack the trio who took evasive action to avoid getting hit by it.
Getting a crazy idea, Nightwing darted forward towards Bane who swung his dumbbell club at him but managed to evade the incoming attack by somersaulting into the air whilst activating the Elec Mode of his Escrima Sticks then he swung to hit the dumbbell which sent an electric current through it and zapped Bane's hand, forcing him to release it.
"Argh, why you little!" Bane sharply reached out to grab him with one hand
"Hey, get your hands off him!" Raph pounced from behind, latching on to Bane's head and proceeded to punch him in the head repeatedly "Have a few knuckle sandwiches on me!"
"Hang on, I'm coming!" Robin ran towards them to provide support.
However, Bane saw him coming and flung Nightwing at the young hero, knocking them both to the ground then he reached back to yank Raph off him and slam powerfully to the ground.
Bane looked down at Raph in annoyance "It would seem you do not know who I am, allow me to inform you. I am the one…," he grabbed Raph and lifted him into the air above his head with both "Who can break anything!"
"Raph!" Robin and Nightwing was scared upon seeing what was about to happen, having known that Batman nearly experienced the same thing if he hadn't countered in time.
Bane brought Raph down back first towards his raised knee for his signature backbreaker.
*Crunch*
"Argh!"
Something broke alright…but it wasn't Raph's back. Apparently, his shell was tough enough to withstand the move and instead broke Bane's knee. Momentarily stunned at what happened, Robin and Nightwing snapped back into focus as the latter rushed forward while picking up a smaller dumbbell before smashing it against Bane's face, effectively knocking out the mutated villain.
"That's some shell, Raph. While Batman was able to escape Bane's backbreaker, you must be the first to ever withstand it," said Robin, looking at the shell and not seeing any cracks on it.
"Tell me about it, this thing has saved me lots of times. Goes to show how much I love being a turtle," said Raph, looking at the unconscious Bane smugly.
"Kinda makes me jealous," said Nightwing, tossing the dumbbell aside "Now to call the cops to they can detain this guy and we'll later turn him back to normal,"
"Sounds good to me,"
Batgirl, Donatello and Michaelangelo POV
The other trio were ding everything they can to not get turned into popsicles as Dr. Freeze keeps blasting at them with his ice gun. Donnie and Batgirl tried attacking from a distance by flinging Batarangs and shurikens but they seem to bounce off the villain's fur and seemed to make him angrier, judging by the beastly growls.
"Surprise!" Mikey attacked from behind while twirling his nunchucks and bashed them against Dr. Freeze's head. However, the doctor merely glanced over his shoulder with an annoyed look on his face "…uh oh," he was sent flying via a backfist into a wall then Dr. Freeze fired an ice blast to pin to it "Guys, a little help over here!"
"Kinda preoccupied over here!" Donnie replied, spinning his bo staff to deflect the icicles launched at him "Just hold on!"
"Oh sure, not like I'm going anywhere!"
"You will all succumb to frozen slumber!" Dr. Freeze declared.
"Excuse me for the pun, but none of us are interested in hibernating anytime soon," Batgirl retorted while using a grapple gun to pull herself up to the rafters to hide in the shadows.
Dr. Freeze sniffed the air a few times "You cannot hide from me; I can track your scent!" he located where Batgirl and prepared to fire his ice gun.
*Screech*
Suddenly, a large fireball came from out of nowhere and slammed into Dr. Freeze, knocking him down to the ground before dissipating to reveal none other than Sigmis; Zenko's pet phoenix. Sigmis flew up to Mikey and radiated heat from his body, freeing the turtle from the ice.
"Now I know how the foods in our refrigerator feel, thanks dude!" said Mikey gratefully with Sigmis chirping in response.
Dr. Freeze recovered from the attack and noticed Sigmis hovering above the trio "That bird, it belongs to Zenko!"
"That's right, he lent him to us considering that we have to face. Pays to have a trump card in hand," said Donnie.
"It won't change a thing; I shall snuff out its flames!" Dr. Freeze aimed his ice gun towards Sigmis and fired a beam of ice with the intent to freeze. Sigmis countered by opening his beak to unleash a large stream of powerful flames which clashed with the ice beam in the middle, both sides fighting intensely for dominance.
"Interesting, his ice gun is capable of freezing anything at subzero levels yet the heat must be close to that of supernova to be able to contend," said Donnie thoughtfully.
"You can geek out later, we need to deal that bear!" Batgirl pointed out urgently.
"Right, let's target the tanks on his back. That must be what he's relying on,"
Both Batgirl and Donnie maneuvered to get behind Dr. Freeze while making sure that he's still preoccupied with facing Sigmis then they threw their explosive Batarangs and shurikens at the tank, severely damaging the tank which immediately got Freeze's attention as he looked back.
"What!? No!"
Sigmis controlled his flames to surround Dr. Freeze, utilizing the heat to make the mutated villain to pass out from dehydration before making the flames dissipate.
"I kinda find him using the ice gun for evil to be kind of a waste," Mikey complained.
"Because of the good it could potentially do for the world?" Donnie inquired.
"Yeah can you imagine all of the ice cream I could make and eat with it?"
Batgirl looked at Mikey with a deadpanned expression "I'm starting to see why you're the youngest of the group,"
Donnie rubbed his face in exasperation "Join the club…,"
Batman and Splinter POV
Batman and Splinter were able to track the Joker into a large big top circus tent thanks to the latter's sense of smell. They stepped inside, saying sharp for anything that the mad clown has planned for them.
"Be careful, he could strike from anywhere at any time," said Batman with caution.
"Indeed, I-!,"
The two immediately jumped in different directions as something came down from above and splashed on the ground, revealing to be puddle of green goo which began to bubble and actually eat into the ground which shows to have acidic properties.
"Hehehehehe, I expect no less from you, Batman," said Joker.
The duo looked up to see the Joker perched atop a trapeze platform and having undergone a mutation like all the others and has taken on the physical feature of the hooded cobra while still retaining his signature clothing and color scheme, they also took note of the green venom dripping out of his fangs.
"Long time no see, batman. Been a while since we last met, when you punched me in the face. What do you think of my new look?"
"Oddy suiting, I always thought of you having a poisonous tongue," said Batman with a small frown behind his cowl.
Splinter looked around while sniffing the air "It would seem that you are alone, where might your assistant be?"
Joker responded nonchalantly "Oh her, that naughty little puppy ran off on her own. I figured that I could let her roam free for a bit before putting the leash on her,"
Batman frowned upon hearing, could it be that the mutagen had affected her mentality differently from the others? Donatello had told him that they hadn't met anyone whose mind was seriously affected by the Ooze, maybe it was different for her.
"Well, enough about that trollop. I've become rather hungry while waiting for you to come over to play, hope you don't mind if I ate your little rat for dinner,"
Splinter narrowed his eyes "You are welcome to try…,"
"Well then…bon appetit!"
Joker began spitting more of his acidic venom towards Batman and Splinter as the two darted out of the way to avoid getting hit but at the same time they now have to watch their step due to the puddles formed by the venom as well.
"Look at you dance, ahahahaha! We're just getting started!" Joker flicked his wrist slightly to make playing cards slip out of his sleeves as he took aim at the duo and threw the cards towards them.
Batman saw the incoming projectiles and is well aware that the seemingly harmless playing cards actually have razor-sharp edges. The Dark Knight reached into his utility belt and took out several Batarangs which he threw at the cards, deflecting them.
"We will need to bring him down to our level if we wish to deal with him," said Splinter.
"Already on it," Batman took out his grapple gun and shot a line to latch on to Joker's clothes and started to pull him down.
However, the Mad Clown wasn't being so cooperative "Oh Batman, I like your aggressiveness but you can't make me fall for you," he tightened his hold on the platform, resisting the pull.
"Let us see if we can't change that," Splinter had picked up some of the Joker's playing cards from the floor then he took aim and threw them at the platform with each striking the same spot until its support was greatly weakened.
Batman gave one strong tug on the line as the platform gave way and Joker came crashing down to the ground before him and Splinter.
Joker rose up while looking very annoyed "I keep forgetting how hard it is to humor you, let's see if I can't change that!" he lunged forward with fangs bared to bite, gliding with the natural agility of a serpent. Batman threw a smoke pellet to the ground to create a smokescreen to conceal them but the Joker remained undeterred "I see you Batsy~ qualities of a snakes, y'know?"
"I was counting on that…," Batman threw a flashbang right in the Joker, releasing a bright flash of light which caused the mutated villain cried out in pain from being blinded.
Splinter swiftly closed the gap between himself and the Joker as he held out a hand "I believe this will be your end, fiend," he quickly launched several two-finger jabs at certain parts of the target's body, namely both sides of the neck, the forehead and chest. Joker stiffened for a moment before falling over and collapsing to the ground where he laid unconscious.
Batman walked next to Splinter "Impressive technique,"
"My master detested taking lives and sought nonlethal ways to defeat his enemies," said Splinter with nostalgia.
"This is also a good time to find out if the Retro-Mutagen will work like it's expected to," Batman approached the Joker with the vial of the reengineered mutagen.
Naruto and Leonardo POV
Naruto and Leo continue to hold their breath as they're submerged in the cloud of Fear Gas with Scarecrow hovering from above with a menacing look in his eyes.
"It's only a matter of time until you have no chance but to catch your breath, I look forward to viewing your fears!" Scarecrow sneered at the duo in anticipation.
"That's what you think, too bad I've got a counter for this!" Naruto quickly weaves through a set of handsigns "Wind Style: Tornado Wall!" he clapped his hands together as a strong gust of wind swirled around him and Leo which blew the Fear Gas away from him and Leo.
"Amazing…," Leo was surprised to see such a technique, he and his brothers had heard and seen the blonde ninja perform other techniques, but seeing it from close up is a whole different experience.
"What the…?!" Scarecrow was shocked to see his gas being blown away which irritated him "How are you able to do this!?"
Naruto retorted "Goes to show how much you know of me, how about I show you something else that you won't be forgetting anytime soon?"
The blonde ninja focused upon the villain as four golden chains emerged from his back then shot towards Scarecrow who tried to escape but the strong winds from the tornado disrupted him from being able to fly properly, each of the chains wrapped around a wing and a leg then proceeded to swing Scarecrow, all the while slamming repeatedly against the floor and trees before holding him up in the air.
"Leo, you're up!" Naruto called out.
"Right!" Leo dashed forward and leapt into the air towards Scarecrow with his katanas glinting in the moonlight "Hah!" he unleashed a flurry of slashes which didn't strike any vital areas but rather slices off the feathers and talons before finishing with an aerial axe kick to the head which rendered the villain unconscious before Naruto dropped him to the ground.
"Nice moves, Leo," Naruto complimented the turtle.
"Thanks, been training hard under master Splinter," said Leo.
"I can tell, it kinda reminds me of other swordsmen back home that were really deadly that you would have to think twice about facing. I'll tell you about them when all this is over,"
Leo was even more intrigued to know about these swordsmen "Hearing that makes me more eager to hear it sooner," then he looked down at Scarecrow and a thought came to mind "So, how are we going to get him back to the authorities?"
Naruto smiled as he took out a scroll from his ninja pouch "No worries, I've got my Stasis Scroll which is designed to contain living beings with no harmful side effects. Makes for easy transportation and you won't have to worry about the criminal trying to make a run for it,"
"That's pretty convenient,"
"I know, right?"
Right as Naruto sealed the Scarecrow into the scroll and put it away in his pouch, both he and Leo were contacted by Batman.
{Zenko, Leonardo, report} Batman inquired.
"We've got Scarecrow and are about to turn him over to the authorities," Naruto replied.
{We've tested the Retro Mutagen on Joker and has proven to be a success which we'll produce more of to give to the Gotham Police so they could turn the rest back to normal. But I need you all to return to base immediately}
"What's wrong?" asked Leo confusedly.
Splinter spoke up {My son, haven't you noticed that there was no sign of the Foot or the Shredder when we were pursuing these villains?}
"No that you mention it, we didn't see any of them even though they were supposed to be working together…that could only mean,"
"They were used as a form of distraction which we can't ignore while the Foot went after something else with no interruptions!" Naruto exclaimed, realizing the true ploy.
{We need to regroup immediately} Batman stated with seriousness.
"We'll be there soon," Naruto ended the transmission then turned to Leo "I'm gonna need you to hold on to me so I can teleport us to the Gotham Police first to drop off Scarecrow then to the base,"
"Right," Leo placed a hand on Naruto's shoulder as the blonde ninja focused on the Hiraishin seal he planted on a roof close to their first destination before they teleported in a yellow flash.
This is Hussbek online with the latest chapter, Naruto as well as the Turtles and Bat Family set up at one of Batman's many hidden bases in Gotham city and proceeded to find ways to locate the Shredder and the Foot while working on a way to reverse any mutation in the future along with getting to know each other. Soon enough, they were alerted of a breakout from Arkham Asylum but some of the villains have been mutated which raises suspicion that Shredder might have allied with them and so had to split up into separate teams to search and detain them. Each team were successful in doing so save for Harley Quinn who is still on the run due to the Ooze possibly having a different effect on her. Batman and Splinter soon realized that the Shredder purposely set the mutated villains on the loose to serve as a distraction while he focuses on something else without being interrupted. Now they need to regroup and figure out how to stop him.
I got the Bat Bunker idea from a reader since it would be illogical for Batman to take the group to the Bat Cave which is directly underneath the Wayne Manor and risk exposing his secret identity, I also had to be a bit experimental with the teams and the battles against the mutated villains to make them interesting even if they seem a bit short.
