Not gonna lie, that last few eps of Supergirl were pretty great.

And I felt that picking this fic back up would be a great thing to do, so let's get started!

Last we left Kara after her first night as a vigilante, with help from Winn using police scanners to find crime. Someone found out about it, and sent a message to meet her.

Hope you enjoy!

Alex felt her dread growing as she sat in her couch at home, nursing a glass of whiskey.

She let her phone fall onto her lap after she ignored yet another one of Kara's calls; she just couldn't find it in herself to speak to her.

Plus, try as she might, she couldn't stop the nausea in her stomach.

She had just found out that her sister was Supergirl.

And she had no way to confront her about it. To ask her to stop. To warn her how dangerous it would be to keep this up.

Unless she revealed to Kara where she actually worked.

But Kara would never forgive her for working at the DEO. No matter how good her intentions were.

Just that thought made her stomach roll, and she let the glass tumbler go.

She was barely aware of the resounding crash of the tumbler shattering, or of her phone clattering to the ground, as she rushed to the toilet and vomited.

After she washed her face, she stood in front of the mirror, heaving big gulps of air, willing the tears to stop falling.

She wished she had never found out.

It had all started the day before. She and her squad had spent the entire night hunting down the new vigilante, as per Henshaw's orders.

After many fruitless attempts, she was ready to pack it in and go home, when she overheard a couple of agents talking. The vigilante had been christened with a moniker: Supergirl.

The name was too much of a coincidence. While yes, the alien had been called a super girl before, the single-worded version carried an entirely different connotation. And after a quick talk with a techie who was in charge of scouring the agents' camera footage for any markers that would identify the vigilante, she had confirmed that the insignia was none other than Kara's house crest.

And like an idiot, she had headed to Kara's apartment to talk to her sister.

She found her sister, completely wiped out in bed. Kara was completely unaware her sister was there - a rarity, considering Kara could hear the door open every time - sporting the costume that Alex had spent the majority of the night chasing down.

Before Kara could sense her presence, Alex had left and headed straight home to pour herself a stiff drink.

And now there she was. Clutching her bathroom counter top, as if that would ground her and tamp down the nausea.

She returned back to the living room and hastily gathered the glass shards and wiped up the remaining whiskey. Checking her phone again, she saw her sister had opted for a text.

'Hey Alex, been trying to call you...did you come over earlier this morning?'

Figuring she could afford to rush out a quick lie, Alex quickly typed. 'No, sorry. Saw your calls, busy day.'

A bit harsh, but she needed time to clear her head, and figure out what she was going to do.

Sending a quick message to Henshaw about feeling under the weather, she dragged herself to her bedroom and promptly collapsed, forgetting about the world, and her sister's stupid heroic tendencies.

Kara looked at her sister's cryptically short message, but she didn't have too much time to focus on it as Winn's pacing and talking was somewhat keeping her occupied.

"It's a trap, obviously. You can't go."

"But what if it's an ally? I can use all the help I can get," Kara countered.

He stopped pacing and pinched the bridge of his nose. "Definitely not the case. The signal is coming from Luthor Corp. If you need help, you can ask Lyra. It seems you inspired her and she's been itching to get me to make her a suit."

Kara hummed. "I'd like that. But I'm still going to that meeting."

Winn threw his hands up in the air. "You won't have any backup! I mean, you're susceptible to Kryptonite as well, right? And I'm sure that at Luthor Corp, getting your hands on some is no problem."

"Well yeah but-" Kara tried to counter, but she knew he had a point. "Okay, fine, it could be a trap. But I'm still going. So what do you suggest?"

"I have a few ideas."

Eve Teschmacher looked up when she heard the door opening. "Ms. Luthor?"

Lena Luthor was walking out of her office, coat in hand. "I'm heading home early Eve. Feel free to take the rest of the day off too."

To say it was a surprising statement was evident. "Did something happen?"

Taking a pause to call up the elevator, Lena said, "No, I just feel tired. Have a good night."

Eve just nodded slowly as her boss got in the elevator and left. It was practically unheard of to have Lena Luthor leave before the sun set. She was usually the last one to leave for the night. Sometimes, Eve wondered if Lena actually left the office.

But for her to leave so early, she didn't believe for a second that her boss was tired. Though at the same time, she had gone through the whole traumatic experience that had apparently inspired this Supergirl to come out of the woodwork.

She would just watch closely, and report.

Meanwhile, Lena walked outside to where Frank and her Rolls Royce were waiting for her, and he opened the door when he saw her approach. "Decided to take an early leave, Ms. Luthor?"

Lena's smile was barely there, but Frank caught it as she entered the car. "Something like that. I hope I haven't inconvenienced you by asking you to come earlier."

"Not at all." Frank closed the door after her, and then went around to enter from the driver's side. As he started the car, he added, "The wife will certainly be happy."

"Oh? I imagine she's not a fan of your late nights?" Lena had never been much of a talker, but she felt the need to talk, to calm her nerves.

Frank chuckled. "Far from it. She gives you a run for your money on the hard working nights, so she'll be happy to have someone else take care of dinner for the kids."

Lena leant back on the leather seats. She wasn't too much of a fan of being chauffeured, but her mother insisted. All part of the image, according to her.

She checked her phone. She still had time to prepare before her meeting. She wondered if Supergirl would actually show up.

The past couple of days had been a whirlwind. From being chased down and cornered by seven thugs, to being saved, and subsequently being thrust into the spotlight as a victim, a Luthor, and to answer the ever persistent question: what was her plan to take care of this Supergirl?

Supergirl had saved her life. She had absolutely no intention of bringing her in. She wasn't like her mother, or her brother. She believed that aliens had every right to live on Earth. This had all been a opportunistic campaign in order to give Lex the power to experiment on aliens. And Lena was ready to end it.

But she couldn't do it alone, and her list of friends and allies that she could trust were short. Hence her contacting Supergirl.

Lena looked up and saw that Frank was pulling up to her apartment. After confirming that he would pick her up tomorrow at the usual time, she made her way up to her loft.

She made herself a quick meal, and made her way up to the rooftop patio, throwing on a thick sweater - she didn't want to catch a cold. While it wasn't the National City Bank, she was right beside it. And while she was prepared to trust Supergirl, she wanted to be sure that her little message didn't instigate an ambush, or that it might have been intercepted by someone else.

At 8, Kara landed on the roof. It was completely empty, and she wondered if she had been duped. She looked around, sensing the fain buzz of Winn's drone flying a few miles away from her. He called it insurance, so he could at least see if something had happened. She was skeptical, but agreed to it.

"Over here!"

Kara whipped around to find none other than Lena Luthor standing on the building to the left. She flew over to the apartment building, brows furrowed. "Why the change in venue?"

"Because if I had listed this building, I'm sure you would have scoured the list of inhabitants, and come across my name. I admit I wasn't sure you'd come if that was the case." Lena didn't want to explain the real reason, but this was a close second.

"But you didn't hide the fact that you sent the message from the Luthor Corp servers," Kara countered.

Lena shrugged. "My point wasn't to deceive you. I wanted to meet you- I'm sorry...how can you even see with those red eyes?"

Kara smiled. "It's mostly for effect. I can see you just fine."

"Fair enough." Lena was trying to not appear fazed by this entire exchange.

"So what did you want to see me about?" Kara asked, folding her arms across her chest.

"I wanted to first of all thank you for saving my life. Properly, without sirens and in a dirty alleyway."

Puffing her chest out a bit, Kara chuckled. "Yeah it's not exactly the greatest part of the city. Which begs the question, what were you doing there?"

Lena looked down at her feet and then back up at Supergirl. "That was my next question. How would you like to help me destroy the DEO, and get rid of the superhero ban?"

Kara was a bit speechless at hearing that. "I would say I'm skeptical. Why would you be interested in taking down the very thing your family created and runs?"

"Well perhaps I'm not an opportunistic bigot like them. My brother only wants the ban so he can experiment on aliens, and my mother has the DEO for the power. I believe this world is a haven for aliens, and should remain so. We should be collaborating with aliens, not hunting them down and murdering them for science. Imagine all that we could create if we put our resources together for the greater good. Diseases, world hunger, violence, they could all be eradicated. The possibilities are endless."

It sounded like a great speech, but Kara was hardwired to not trust a Luthor. "And how do I know I can trust you?"

Lena kept her eyes locked onto Kara's. "I suppose you can't really know, except to just believe that I am a woman of my word, and not like the rest of my family."

"I'll consider it, as soon as you answer my earlier question. What were you doing the other night?"

"I was going to visit an old friend of mine to see if she could help. But I was chased by those goons before I could get there."

Kara carefully considered her options. On one hand, Lena seemed genuine. But she could just imagine how stupid she'd look if this was a trap. She could just envision Winn and Alex's reactions. But she was nothing if not an optimist.

"Deal." Kara held her hand out, and Lena took it, firmly shaking. "When do we start?"
